This quaint farm cottage was originally a Sears/Montgomery Ward catalog house from the early 1900s and was completely renovated in 2015. It is located on the property of the historic Bitter Root Stock Farm started by copper magnate, Marcus Daly, in 1886, and still in operation today. This is a unique opportunity to experience Montana’s history on a personal level, as part of the Daly property that continues to be a working ranch. What sets this vacation rental apart, in addition to the unique history, is the privacy. The house is adjacent to fields and pastures, so you have no neighbors. You will experience a relaxing setting while you may hear the mooing of the cattle in the adjacent pastures or the sprinklers irrigating the fields. Just off the Bitter Root Valley's scenic Eastside Highway, you are within a five minute drive to the heart of downtown Hamilton, with its varied restaurants and eclectic stores, as well as to all of the outdoor opportunities that the Bitter Root valley has to offer. This includes cross country skiing, downhill skiing and snow-mobiling in the winter, and fly fishing, hiking, bicycling, golfing and horse back riding in the summer. Countless National Forest trailheads are accessible from this central location. In addition, guests can easily walk to the historic Daly Mansion, one of the premier museums in Montana. Any stay comes with two free passes to this historic mansion, a local treasure worth touring. The options are endless!
This is a cozy, two-bedroom home that comfortably sleeps 4, with room for a 5th person on a couch. The cottage is simple but the epitome of hominess, and we try to do our best to make you feel welcome and relaxed. In addition, there is ample room on the property to pitch a tent, for additional guests upon approval. Among the features of our home are: a brand new kitchen with a small, separate dining area, a completely renovated bathroom with a shower (no bathtub), and a laundry/mudroom. One bedroom has a queen bed, the other bedroom has two twin beds, both with an eclectic mix of antique and modern furniture. There is wifi throughout the house, and Roku access to television and Netflix programs as well as DVDs and a DVD player. However, you will not want to watch TV, as it is the views of the Sapphire range to the east and the Bitter Root mountains to the west that will keep you coming back. We also have two fenced corrals to accommodate horses upon prior approval, and we will welcome dogs on a case-by-case basis. A back patio with a BBQ grill, Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, and a small front porch to relax on, are the icing on the cake. We look forward to your visit. Experience a slice of history by staying on the historic Daly property!
Missoula, home of the University of Montana and additional stores and restaurants, is less than an hour away and is serviced by the Missoula International Airport for the many who have already discovered the beauty and appeal of the Bitter Root valley.
