About Mike Lamont
I was born in Tampa, served 4 years in the military than became a City of Tampa firefighter. After retiring from the fire department I became a Florida State Certified Building Contractor which I am still in that profession. My English Springer and I are very active in physical activities such as fishing, running and boating. I am a very laid back person and spend a lot of time working on the property.
Mike Lamont purchased this House in 2001
Why Mike Lamont chose South Seminole Heights
I purchased part of this property from the Meyers that owned about 30 acres on the river in 1982 and developed part of the property building some riverfront homes. I ended up living in one because I fell in love with the area. After 7 years I sold and moved to another area much to my regret and in 2001 the rest of the Meyers property came on the market including the home they lived in since 1942. I purchased and developed the rest of the land and kept and totally redid the subject home. The home is a little to large so I decided to close off part of it and rent the main part out.
What makes this House unique
This property is 23 feet above the river and has a lot of windows that gives views of front and rear of the beauty with peacocks spreading their feathers. You feel as though you are miles away in the country but yet you are 2 minutes away from all the conveniences. The views are breathtaking. The private road I had to build to provide access to the other homes. I completed the project in 2008.

From the moment we arrived Mike was welcoming, charming, and very helpful. The location was very accessible to downtown, and the perfect place to return to after a long day at our convention. Between the river view and the peacock parade, the great kitchen and comfortable seating, cozy beds and well appointed bathrooms, glorious sunsets on the terrace...well, let's just say it was wonderful.
Allison and her guest were so nice and considerate. They left the premises in more than immaculate condition, shared a old Italian bread recipe, you all were plain wonderful and and so glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope you come back.
The property is not as represented in photo
This property is not as represented in the photo. It consists of three separate units of which two are occupied and which share the backyard and the courtyard. I rented the property to have a fenced yard for my dogs and only choose pet friendly rentals. Upon arrival I was told I should have contracted the owner as his dog who resides on the property and has use of the backyard and undergone an operation and could not interact with my dogs. This was not noted in the advertisement nor in the exchange of emails prior to my arrival. I have requested a full refund but the owner has not responded other than releasing my damage deposit for a rental that I did not occupy. This listing should be for a property that is occupied and not represented as a stand alone property. Very disappoint with Owner and Company which I used to find this property.
Unfortunately the guest did not read the listing. He stated that it was for 2 people and when he checked in he was olone.I asked him about his her guest and replied that he had to go pick her up. She was at her mothers house about 10 minutes away. That night I took my dog rocky for a walk when I arrived it was dark bout 8 PM and as I entered my yard I felt the present of something behind me, looked aroud and saw a German shepard follng me. I wasdsomewhat startled. As I walk up the porch I see the secong German sheperd and rushed to get Rocky into my Studio apartment which is on the same property. His girfriend came out and introduced herself and saw that I was startled about her dogs. So her conversation started wth quote "did Richard tell you about the dogs when he booked your house" ? I told her no he did not. She seemed upset that he did not mention the dogs and said "quote " Richard is very smart but he doesn't have a lot of common sense. " unquote. She was kind of upset with him and apologized to me. He had to know that I lived on the property and had a dog had he read the listing. They were considering leaving the dogs at her moms house so she could sleep here then decided to leave. The next morning he texed me about the keys to get in and I told him I would leave them under the mat or leave it open. He then texed me back and said he sent the message to the wrong number. Never heard back. My dates stayed blocked on the calender until his booking terminated therefore I could not booked another guest. I have never had this type of problem with any guest and I have been doing this for 4 years.
My family and I loved staying here. We had everything we needed and more. The place is beautiful and the hospitality was far greater than expected. We hope to make this our regular place to stay any time we are in Tampa! Thanks, Mike! It was a great week!
Thank you for the great review. You all deserved every bit of it.
The kitchen was large and the host helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the peacocks that were on the property. Having a large place like this near downtown Tampa was s serious upgrade from a hotel room.
A very relaxing stay and a gracious host
A spacious property built in the 40's with "Old South" charm. Owner has done many exterior upgrades and lives in adjacent apartment with his trusted friend Rocky, a Springer Spaniel. Both were very welcoming and made the place feel like home.
Ideally suited for two couples, but compromise needed since 2nd bedroom is significantly smaller than large master.
Very centrally located to all amenities and sites - airport, downtown and riverwalk, shopping, golf, baseball, Ybor tourist area. St. Pete's and famous Gulf beaches only 45 minutes drive.
We really enjoyed our stay.
There are many additional attractions including Peacocks roaming the neighborhood. Fish that swim past our dock. Lowry Park zoo 5 miles, downtown Tampa 5 miles. Seminole Heights Historic District with many eateries 1/2 mile. Worlds best beach voted number one many times Fort Desoto Beach. Many activities downtown such as Tampa Bay Lightning Hokey, 5 minutes. Legends Field ( Home of the NY Yankees Baseball 10 minutes International Shopping Mall 10 minutes. Riverwalk Downtown Tampa. I will have a guest welcome letter with maps and locations for my guest.
