Second time staying.. and I will continue to come back as much as I can. Love the place. Great location, easy walk to the beach, and it’s super comfortable home. They had everything we needed. We enjoyed a relaxing weekend trip. Thanks for opening your wonderful home to us! Oh and we love the upgrade to the front porch! We sat outside every night!
Cute little house close to the beach!
We loved our stay at "just right". The propertie's decor and furniture was outdated as stated in the other reviews, but we didnt care because the house was clean and just a short walk from the beach. The home is full of little extras that made our stay go as smooth as possible. There was outdoor shower, hose, and faucets for clean up after the beach. We borrowed the wagon, beach toys, and boogie boards provided. There was also some staples and cookware in the kitchen to use which helped us save money and eat in. We used the washer and dryer to do laundry. We had plenty of towels and were able to comfortably sleep 5 guests. Our favorite part was the deck. My only complaint is that the "grill" was terrible. It was a small outdoor grill like the kind you find at a park and it was hard to use. This little house really was a home away from home, and we will definitely be staying here again.
BIG LET DOWN
Loved the new deck but then we went inside. No soap for the shower, no wash cloths, tub mat slipped, Furniture needs to be replaced and quickly, also the kitchen need an update as well, toilet doesn't flush right, no hamper to put clothes as directed by owner, locks are hard to open, bicycle had a flat, umbrella holder strap was broken, and the coffee......only a few pods of bad tasting coffee and some of us, actually many of us still use the standard drip coffee maker. it would have been nice if we were told they only had "pods". If the items above were corrected is would be a great place to stay. Close to the beach!
We hate to see you did not enjoy your stay. To address a few items. First, there is a bike pump beside the bikes that can easily be used to pump the tires up when necessary. There are two beach umbrellas, with stainless steel holders to use on the beach. The description of the house shows a Keurig Machine, but we will take your advice and also purchase a standard coffee pot. The furniture in the house is as depicted in the photos. Our price point reflects the furnishings and age of the house. However, the beds, sheets and towels are all new, as well as the kitchen appliances.
Cozy weekend getaway
Very cute and cozy weekend getaway! The house was kept clean and neat with all the amenities you would need. Hope to stay again in the future!
This was our first visit to Oak Island. We will be back! Our "Just Right" stay was just that!
Clean, comfy, and roomy. Love the deck with the gate. The pups could hang out outside without any worries. The short walk to the beach is pretty sweet as well.
We'll be back!
Thanks Cheryl! Glad to have you!
To all the low starred reviews who said it was outdated and a little grungy, you were right.
I hardly ever leave reviews, and rarely leave bad ones at that. This is our first time using VRBO and resorted to it due to unavailability of other accommodations in the area during the time of our stay. All of us are far from pretentious with our needs for accommodations, but this was far beyond what anyone (including myself) would find acceptable as the cleanliness of a home in general.
- Good location and a short walk from both the beach and the inlet.
- Quiet, residential neighborhood
- A short drive to coffee shops and other stores
- The deck is gorgeous, and obviously, brand new
- The beds are pretty comfortable
- The home is advertised as having two bathrooms, which has the connotation that an additional indoor usable shower is included within the reservation. Upon arrival, my father went to use the downstairs bathroom, to find that the entire shower was filled to the top (I wish photo uploads were allowed) with beach equipment which rendered it totally unusable. I realize that there is also an outdoor shower to utilize, but it should be noted somewhere that the bathroom itself has a shower that looks like it belongs on the show "hoarders".
-Not only was the "second bathroom" not equipped with the shower, it was one of the dirtiest bathrooms I've ever used. As a Paramedic, this brought about memories of going to a patient's home who was elderly and unable to clean the home or someone who was a hoarder. There was dirt, grime, dead bugs, and more in addition to the fact that the outlet to the right of the sink actually had part of a metal prong stuck in it (hey, fire code) which was alarming to everyone.
- The kitchen has no counter space, aside from a small wooden bar table which shares the Keurig Coffee machine (for which there are no K-cups). This made making meals a little challenging at times.
- As stated in many other reviews, the decor is outdated at best. This is not really a con for me, as I don't mind outdated furniture and color schemes, as long as they're clean and safe. However, the whole house was undusted (even light fixtures), paint jobs around door frame were a mess, and the fire alarm had a dead battery (yikes).
-The upstairs bathroom was also a level of clean that I would never invite a guest in to see. It featured a moldy shower curtain, unclean tile, and countertops that were of questionable sanitization.
