Location was fantastic, easy walking distance to everywhere. Casita was very nice, small, but it we were good with it since we were always out & about. We spent most time we were there enjoying eating or reading on the patio. The people working there were all friendly. Would definitely stay again.

They all have unique patios, but the one on B is really nice! One of my favorites! And it sounds like you were able to get out and enjoy the neighborhood as well! Terrific casita!

My family of four had a great time staying here! Mary Anne was super communicative and warm and helpful. The place is comfy and has everything you need. The patio is pleasant for eating or relaxing. And it's a 10 minute walk to the plaza, with plenty of restaurants and cages closer than that. I highly recommend it!

Casita B was clean, comfortable and in a great location; not far from the center of town. At night the property was very quiet, and you couldn't really hear any of your neighbors. About the bathroom - even as a "normal" sized person, the bathroom is very tight. You do need to be careful when using it. Overall this was a great place to stay in Santa Fe.

Please keep in mind that we have a total of 12 casitas, all in different sizes and shapes. This one bedroom, one bath is small, so maybe next time you can stay in a larger casita if available! We would love to have you join us again soon! Thanks for being such a terrific guest!

Great location! Plaza, Railyard, Canyon Rd…all walkable. The unit is tight and, in general the West end feels more cramped than the East side of the Plaza. The bathroom is very small so if you are a larger person it may not work.

This casita does have a nice sized kitchen-that's the trade off in this particular casita. We do have 11 other casitas and I'd be happy to place you in a different one next time round. They are all very different and unique. I hope you will remember us if you travel this way again! Thanks for taking such good care of our place!

Location is excellent. Not only to the Plaza, but to Clafoutis patisserie and cafe.

Positives: great location, good mattress, cute little patio. Negatives: shabbily furnished with thrift store finds- in kitchen, cracked plates, broken scissors. A painting with the price tag still attached. A vodka box repurposed? as an end table. The worst- ugly, second-hand towels that were oddly not absorbent. Bent, flimsy wire clothes hangers. Had to go to CVS to buy hangers for our use. I'm all for shabby chic but at these nightly rates, we expected more chic and less shabby.

Response from VrboOwner on 4 Aug, 2023
Owners Response: Dear Bert, I’m glad that you enjoyed the location, mattress and the outdoor patio of Casita B. I’m so sorry that you were not happy with the rest. We advertise our properties as moderately priced casitas, that are clean, cozy and conveniently located near the plaza. We work hard to make your experience a positive one and we do not want anyone to walk away unhappy. Please know that we are consistently replacing linens, towels, and kitchen equipment. The towels that were in Casita B were fairly new. They were soft and fluffy and washed really well – we didn’t know that they were not good absorbent towels and they will be replaced. Each casita has its own pattern of dishes, linens and towels and when we replace items we make sure that the sets are matching so that there aren’t mismatched items in the cabinets and drawers. We always discard items that have been damaged or broken when we find them. If items have been put back in the drawers or cabinets, they may have been missed during the cleanings. The two most popular items that go missing are the scissor and hangers. We keep extra scissors in the supply cabinet for that reason and once a year we throw out all the metal hangers and replace them with the hard white plastic ones. We will make a point to run through the places more often and replace the wire hangers with the plastic ones. As for the furniture, since the casitas are small, we try not to clutter it up with big pieces. Most of the items are practical and light weight. The furniture doesn’t have stains or tears and is in good shape. If the furniture is light weight housekeeping can move items easily to clean underneath pieces. And guests constantly move furniture around and it’s hard for one housekeeper to put things back together when working alone. Some of the pictures on the walls have been painted by local artist and they are for sale. Those pictures do have price tags on them. As for the vodka box end table, that was a gift from a local artist in Santa Fe. That end table is strong and sturdy – so sturdy that someone can stand on it! We try and showcase Santa Fe artists throughout the casitas. I’m always looking for new furnishings and items for the casitas and I will keep your comments in mind when I’m looking around. Thank you so much for taking time to write and stay with us. We do have 12 casitas and you may consider staying in another one next time you visit Santa Fe.

Casita A

All these casitas seem to be charming examples of historic buildings. They are within walking distance of expected Santa Fe attractions, including restaurants, shops, museums, galleries. Dealing with Mary Ann during the reservation process, etc., was easy and pleasant. Casita A was ours for 2 nights. We didn't cook so I have no feedback on appliances or other kinds of kitchen supplies. Made coffee twice. One bathroom is extremely small. Both shower curtain liners were stained and should be replaced. We were looking forward to using the kiva fireplace, heavily featured in all descriptions , including the casita book left on the kitchen counter which stated that 2 starter logs will be supplied and renters must buy the rest. When no logs were found a call to Mary Ann revealed that fireplace use doesn't start "until Nov"...we were extremely disappointed. Truth in advertising is always the best policy and I think it was not adhered to in this instance. Also, please remember that you are renting olders homes that are not perfect. I think that these are quirky, charming places, complete with a few disadvantages. But if you are okay with that, and if the 2 issues I raise, shower liners and the kiva fireplace discloser, are addressed, you could easily make the most of your stay. We might well choose another accommodation upon return, however.
Response from VrboOwner on 4 Aug, 2023
It was so nice to hear from you! I always appreciate the feedback that we receive, good or bad. It keeps us on our toes and only helps us to improve. I’m so sorry about the shower curtains. They have been replaced. We usually take them down once a month to wash them. As for the wood, we started providing the prepackaged logs several years ago. They are very easy to use and typically burn for up to two hours. These are seasonable logs and we can only purchase them in the winter months. They typically go on sale in October or November, depending on the weather. The last day of Summer 2011 was September 23, 2011. We are still in the 80’s during the day, and still have the air conditioners on (May – October). September and October, we usually leave all the doors and windows open and enjoy the fresh air. I have revised our book to let our guest know when we start providing the wood. The fireplaces can be used any time of year, we just don’t provide the wood until it cools down a bit.

Casas de Guadalupe a Disappointment

While I agree with other reviewers that have said the manager Mary Ann is very flexible, friendly and responsive - I was very disappointed with our casita. As soon as we entered the casita I could see that it was dusty - the ceiling fan was dusty, a glass dining table was dusty and smudged and the top of the refrigerator was dusty. But the thing that bothered me the most were the dirty walls, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom. The tub was in poor condition (worn) and there was some mildew around the tub and on the shower curtain. The bath towels were worn and the bath mat was so worn it had loose threads all around the mat. It was essentially a rag. I did email Mary Ann and she offered to have the cleaning lady come by or refund the cleaning fee. I didn't accept her offer to have the cleaning lady come because it was primarily the upkeep that bothered me - not the dust - and I knew the cleaning lady couldn't do anything in that regard. As far as I am aware, she didn't refund the cleaning fee One of the reasons we chose the casita was the availability of the kitchen - but after trying to cook our first dinner we gave up. I had to put two chicken breasts in a glass salad bowl to bake them. There was no foil so I put a baking sheet on top of the bowl to cover them while baking. We didn't attempt another dinner. The casita was short on paper towels and toilet paper. We planned a to stay over a week and we were supplied with 2 rolls of toilet paper and there were no tissues. We had to buy toilet paper because we had not been told where to find any on the premises. There were also burned out bulbs in the bathroom and the living area. My husband and I felt that the price we paid was very high considering the condition of the casita. This place needs updating in the worst way. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but since I picked this facility because of the reviews, I thought it was important to share my experience. Mary Ann also requested, in an email, that we leave a review. There are much nicer places to stay in Santa Fe for the money. Next time we will probably just stay in a hotel as it has been so difficult to predict the outcome of a choice on VRBO/Homeaway.
Response from VrboOwner on 4 Aug, 2023
I am so sorry that you were so disappointed in your stay. My cleaning ladies and I work really hard to take care of our properties and make sure they are clean and acceptable for our guests to stay. We take great pride in the work we do and very rarely have any complaints about the cleanliness or appearance of our properties. I inspect all the casitas for each guest prior to their check in. I knew the casita had just been cleaned two days prior to arrival, and knew that when she explained where the dust was, that it had come from the sky light above. I had a repair man look at it the next day and discovered that a screw had come out. We repaired it the very next day and filled the edges with foam. When checking the casitas, we make sure that we leave ample paper goods behind. This guest was scheduled in for six nights and we had one roll of paper towels on the counter and another above the sink. There was also one roll of toilet paper on the spool and two others in the drawer. We are happy to provide paper goods and soaps – hand soap, body soap, dish soap, laundry soap, etc, but we do not supply foil or plastic wrap. I never throw these things away if people leave them behind and always tell my guests to look around the casitas before they stop at the grocery store. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, dishes, silverware, (just about anything to cook with) as well as a stove, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. Cooking in the casitas should be very easy. I have guests do it every day! We are constantly replacing towels and linens and do not leave ratty ones behind. I am partial to the fuzzy (not ratty) bath mats. We also leave extra light bulbs under the sink next to the little tool box. We try and paint and touch up all our places during our slower times, at least twice a year – April and October. The walls are made of adobe and when hit, will leave scratches. Our shower curtains our washed monthly and the tubs are cleaned thoroughly after each guests stay, sometimes once or twice a week! My housekeeper lives on site and I am always a phone call away. My phone number is listed on all our correspondence as well as in the casitas. I return all phone calls the day it is received and we work hard to take care of any problems immediately.

Perfect romantic getaway!

This property is the best kept secret in Santa Fe, but not for long!!! When we made our spur the moment reservations...hoping to find a place to rest our weary bones after walking the Plaza. Instead this spacious Casita became our focal point and we spent the majority of our time relaxing and enjoying all of the amenities. Very nicely furnished, the kitchen was well equipped and lacked for nothing, cozy living room comfortable leather couch and overstuffed chairs, adorable fireplace, great TV with all the bells and whistles. The closet storage was spacious, plenty of storage, cozy bathrooms with skylights. The mattresses were phenomenal, we slept like babies. You are within easy walking distance to the Plaza, the Santa Fe Railyard, an Albertson's grocery store, major shopping center and so much more. The manager assisted me with our reservation and was most helpful, she even provided us with substantial discounts we were not aware of. This property and its staff have made repeat customers out of us, will be back again soon! Check this property out, it's definitely a winner!

Hi! My name is Mary Ann and I'm the property manager for Casas de Guadalupe. I began working in the hospitality industry after graduating with a Finance degree from UNM. After 20 years in the industry, my brother in law, Doug and two of his friends had purchased these properties. Doug was living on site and asked me to come and take a look at them. When I came out to Santa Fe to take a look at these casitas, I fell in love with them. 10 darling vacation rentals, all within the same complex, just off the plaza...what sales person could resist!! Come and experience the friendly people, the fantastic restaurants, museums and shops, and best of all the outdoor activities in and around Santa Fe!

Why they chose this property

Casita B is a one bedroom, one bath casita. Comfy and cozy this little place as everything you need for the perfect get away. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare a meal, (or warm up your delicious left overs from your favorite restaurant on the plaza!) Enjoy the kiva fireplace in the living are, while watching TV. There is also a full size pull out sofa. The bedroom has a queen size bed, with an adjoining bathroom. Note: The bathroom is small, but it has everything you'll need! The outdoor patio is enclosed with a coyote fence, perfect for an early morning cup of coffee, or a glass of wine in the evenings.

Parking is easy and steps away from the front door. Walk to the plaza and enjoy all our shops, restaurants, museums and much, much more!

What makes this property unique

This property is located just off of Guadalupe which is one of the main streets that borders the Plaza. Once you cross Guadalupe, you will see lots of shops, restaurants and museums. Park is a very quiet street just off the beaten path. You can enjoy a day at the plaza, walk back to the casita and enjoy a quiet night on the patio. Or take a little walk to any of the nearby restaurants in the area. If you don’t feel like eating out, there are several grocery stores in the area. The kitchen is fully equipped making it easy to whip up a delicious meal of your very own!
