About Darrell Burchfield
We are long term residents of the area with a total of 6 different VRBO properties that will suit almost everyone's needs. We are both Realtors with over 40 yrs of experience between us. Many folks have stayed in our homes and have ended up staying here and honoring us by letting us help them find the home they were looking for. Please inquire as to special deals that we offer to those looking for a home. We would be more than happy to provide references from past clients that have stayed in one of our VRBO's and used us as their Realtors.

5 Star Home, 2 Star Ownership
Firstly, it's important to state that the house is 100% as advertised. It's well stocked and in a wonderful neighborhood, with one of the best pools in town. The rooms are nice and the space is very comfortable for a larger family. The yard is more than adequate for dogs, but be very careful as it does have a very fruitful grape vine and grapes are highly toxic to dogs. One of our dogs did end up becoming ill from the grapes and it took a few days to recover. Outside of that, the house itself is wonderful and we enjoyed it.
Now on to the less than appealing aspect of the stay--The ownership.
Upon requesting the property for rent for 2 weeks, I received a call from Darrell starting that he'd require an additional fee for the dogs outside of the VRBO agreement. I agreed to pay the fee because we wanted to rent the house, but be advised that money paid outside of the website is something VRBO advises against.
After 15 hours of driving from Southern California, 2 days into our stay, I received a text message from the homeowner stating the following:
"Hello Andre, this is Darrell Burchfield the owner of the home at **** (I removed the address). It's come to my attention that you have three large dogs in the home. That is not permissible and I would not have allowed it had you made it known to me when you booked the home. The dogs must be removed today. If the dogs are not removed today I will have to ask you to leave. Please notify me of your intentions at your earliest convenience. Darrell"
I spoke to Darrell over the phone and reminded him of our conversation prior to us arriving and he reluctantly agreed to allow us to stay because I showed him proof of the booking message stating that we were bringing dogs. We also found out that one of the homeowners entered the home while we were gone to put out garbage cans, despite knowing we could do it ourselves had we been asked. Not the best of starts for us.
A week into our stay, the Holy Fire in Southern CA began to encroach on our property at home and we were forced to leave a week early for evacuation reasons. When I mentioned this to Darrell, I asked for a partial refund for unused dates with the intention of coming back to continue to look at homes after the fire was clear. Darrell informed me that it wasn't possible and that he'd only refund if the home was rented by someone else, which it never was. Aside from the deposit, nothing else was refunded.
If you stay here, please be very cautious.
First of all, this man is correct in that I had forgotten that I had approved the dogs. I have 8 VRBO homes and I just forgot the conversation. When he reminded me of our agreement, I immediately apologized, end of story. In regards to the rest of his comments, I am going to let the overwhelming amount of absolutely wonderful reviews that we have received lately speak for themselves. As I said, I immediately apologized for the misunderstanding but evidently that is not sufficient for this gentleman. By the way, see how many owners will agree to have someone with 3 large dogs rent their home, Good Luck!
Home away from home
We were in town for my husband's 30th high school reunion. This lovely home was centrally located for all of the weekend activities. The home had everything you might need plus more. When we arrived after our long drive there were chips and salsa waiting for us in the kitchen. When we couldn't open the jar of salsa, I looked in one of the drawers and found a jar opener. Our kids loved the community pool. We loved having pool towels available at the home. It really felt like a home away from home.
Great Family Vacation Home - Love Idaho!
We stayed for a week in beautiful Meridian catching up with some friends we haven’t seen in over 23 years and fell in love with the area - were so impressed at the rental house that was absolutely the PERFECT layout and size for our family. The location was very central, streets and area was clean, a quiet and safe neighborhood with the added bonus of a beautiful community pool (that our 4 and 9 year old kids LOVED), kids riding bikes and running a lemonade stand in the neighborhood, not to mention the added amenities and personal touches in the house were all a pleasant surprise. It was clean and well taken care of with lots of sheets, towels, cleaning products, laundry products, spices, coffee, utensils, etc. to make us feel right at home. House was well decorated and had good privacy for my wife & I with the large master with bath & walk-in closet (and the inspirational prayer from Abraham Lincoln on the mirror was a nice touch) - kids loved having their own bedrooms with closet & bathroom to share, and having a garage to park our car in with a garage door opener was an added bonus. For anyone considering renting this house - HIGHLY recommended and Darrell & Laurie were gracious hosts who made it special & were quick to respond and answer all of our questions. Thanks Darrell for the memories - we will definitely be back soon and would re-rent again (if we don’t find a house to buy and move to Meridian permanently before then)... :)
Wow, what a glowing report!! This is probably the best review we have ever received but as usual, I have to give the credit for all the nice touches to my wife, Laurie, who is simply amazing in what she provides to all our clients and they all appreciate her gift in this area. Thanks again for this review and we look forward to your next visit, hopefully to find you a new home here in the great state of Idaho.
Great location and family vacation home!
My family stayed in this lovely home for a summer month of vacation. It was a perfect central location in the Treasure Valley for activities and visits by local family members. The home is a very comfortable family home with all of the necessary conveniences. It’s also located in a nice neighborhood and close to a community pool that my kids absolutely loved! And there are nice parks nearby too!
Lovely home -- super soft sheets!
This is a lovely place to stay in Boise. The house is a terrific layout for my husband, myself and two teens. Lots of space, close to everything and the community pool was an added bonus on hot days. And I have to say -- they had some of the most luxurious sheets I have ever had in a VRBO!
