Bell Lodge is a large, luxury holiday house set set in the small village of Birdham, Chichester on the Manhood Peninsula. We were thrilled to be given an AA Five star rating in September 2019.
Located just a 4/6 minutes drive to the beautiful and popular East and West Wittering Beaches and 2XS Ltd water sport centre for windsurfing, surfing , kite and SUP hire and tuition.
It is the perfect base for a bucket and spade holiday, visits to bustling Chichester and its impressive harbour, cycling Salterns Way to East Head, attending a Goodwood event, Weddings at Southend Barnes or a boat trip to Bosham Quay on the Itchenor Ferry.

Bell Lodge has been newly refurbished and decorated to the highest standards offering a touch of glamour to a modern country house.
It is a holiday home for all ages with a down stairs ensuite walk/wheel in wet room and large secure grounds and garden. We can cater for special family celebrations relaxing wellness breaks or full-on activity holidays. We aim to ensure your stay offers everything you are looking for.

The designer kitchen with breakfast bar and TV seating area leads onto a 14 seater dining room. The cinema room with its 50inch screen large red beanbags and chairs is ideal for screen time comfort. Luxury 8 bedrooms (arranged as twins/ super-kingsize to suit) offer high end hotel standard beds, the downstairs designed for full disabled/wheelchair access wth en suite wheel in wet room. This room has its own entrance. All bed linen and towels are sourced and laundered through a hotel laundry company to ensure the highest quality. Our large but cosy 'blue room' with its wood burning stove offers space for all to gather and sit. There is extensive out side space and grounds with the use of a large field to the left. A trampoline and outdoor table tennis table ensure all year round activities in a secured area
By request ( and added cost) and we can offer personnel trainers/ wellness packages with our partners plus on site beauty and massage therapy. Also the services of a chef and extra housekeeping to take the stress out of your holiday. Wellness retreats, beauty therapists, personnel trainers and professional wine tasting evenings can be organised to jazz up your holiday break.

Bell Lodge is truly amazing, very relaxing with plenty of space and a very large garden for our two dogs. It has everything you need, the hot tub is a big bonus and well used for most of us. We had fabulous weather and so lovely to relax in the garden after a day out. We will never forget our stay in Bell Lodge and we truly recommend this beautiful house. The owners were very helpful and the communication between ourselves was excellent.

Great house for a large group

We had a great stay at Bell Lodge celebrating a family birthday. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The trampoline was a huge hit with the kids and the hot tub with the adults. Plenty of space for everyone. Would highly recommend it.

Beautiful and spotlessly clean

Beautiful house with gorgeous decor, fully equipped kitchen and absolutely spotless. Very comfortable beds and plenty of space for a large group to relax and socialise. Would 100% recommend and would absolutely stay there again. Very convenient location with plenty to do in the area.

BELATED FAMILY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

The house was perfect, very clean, lovely decoration and excellent facilities. A lovely welcome pack was left along with all the things we could need, dishwasher/washing tablets, coffee, tea etc. The location is excellent, easy to find with a big front car parking area and very close to the lovely West Wittering Beach. Please be aware if booking that the hot tub is a charged facility, this is not mentioned in the house description (unlike things like a chef/beauty treatments which it clearly states are at extra cost) and the cost was only communicated 1 week prior to arrival! However, we did pay for the use of the hot tub and thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall this is an excellent choice for a large group and we would definitely recommend it.

Great property with excellent rooms

Sometimes you book a property and it falls a little short of the pictures once you get there - this was not the case at Bell Lodge. It was larger than expected, really cosy, nicely decorated and very well equipped. Everything was clean, fresh, well presented and all room sizes were good. The welcome basket was hugely appreciated and communication was prompt, courteous and helpful before, during and after. Whilst the road doesn't lend itself to walking due to lack of verges, a good pub/restaurant and convenience shop are a very short drive away and an indian restaurant/take-away just a little further. We made use of all of these. Plus walked the beaches of West and East Wittering and the Marina, each reached by car in just a few minutes. We also visited Chichester one afternoon, enjoyed an evening meal at The Ivy, and took the teenagers go-karting in Gosport. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over New Year, despite the rain lashing down on us on several occasions and it just made it all the more lovely to return after each walk or outing. There were 12 in our party, 6 adults and 6 teens, making this house ample-sized for us with left over space to escape a snorer if need be! There are several different versions of floor plans online, some of which are older diagrams still viewable on other sites; but if you view the one on VRBO via a laptop, it accurately shows the location of the 6 doubles, 2 singles, two family bathrooms, two ensuites and cloakroom.

A perfect cottage in every reaspect

My family and I stayed in Bell lodge for our Christmas break, 8 adults and one 12 year old and all enjoyed our break. The cottage was very spacious and the wealth of seating excellent. The kitchen was very well equipped and as the dining area was an extension of the kitchen that was ideal as well. The additional lounge area was again spacious and the seating superb. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were excellent and the beds very comnfortable. The downstairs double bedroom with walk in en suite is suitable for disabled guests and had delightful views of the garden as well as an exterior door. The table tennis and trampoline were extensively used and the rear garden was great for the dog. The hot tub is larger than most and again was well used. The trips to Chichester town and marina, and West Wittering beach were enjoyed by everyone. A superb holiday!!

Smashing stay

We booked a family trip to Bell Lodge over the May half term (two sets of parents and four children under 6). The house is beautiful! When we drove in through the gates we were immediately very chuffed! Huge outdoor space with hot tub, large trampoline & loads of seating. The kids spent ages tearing around and never got bored! The house wa spotless and had loads of room for all of us (9 bedrooms to choose from!). The living space was the best as the kids could play freely and we never felt “penned in”. Very well equipped kitchen and a lovely welcome basket on arrival. A lovely thoughtful touch was a bag of ice so the grownups could waste no time in having a refreshing cold drink!! The location is also fab. Three beaches withing 10 minutes was perfect. Also, lots of shops nearby to restock was helpful. All in all, a smashing stay. Melissa was a great host and was easy to contact. We requested a second heigh chair and it was dropped off the same day. Highly recommended

Excellent house for a family

The host was very prompt with communications. The house was very clean and tidy and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Plenty of kitchen utensils etc. What with the fire place and hot tub it was a very pleasant stay. We were a family of 11 and a spaniel. Highly recommended.

Fun family holiday

Our family of 6 adults and 4 children ( ages from 1-9years) had a great week at Bell Lodge. We did so much- several beach trips, fossil hunting, coastal walks, funfairs and also time spent in the hot tub and kids loved the trampoline. Property was very well equipped and decorated stylishly. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms very good.It was clean and there was a welcome box of goodies for our arrival. Only slight downside was some traffic noise early morning but not at night. All in all a great holiday.

It would seem Vrbo systems are terribly lacking. Vrbo cancelled our holiday and yet continue to send us notifications, like this request to review this property we never stayed in because of their cancellation. I suggest Vrbo review and seriously update their systems to avoid multiple other disappointments. Their programming appears to be not fit for purpose. They were extremely unhelpful in offering alternative accommodation or any form of compensation and have failed to take any responsibility for their actions. We will never ever use Vrbo again.

Fab Easter break

Lovely property, loads of space, really well equipped kitchen. Beds were really comfy and bathrooms were nice and clean. The children loved the trampoline, table tennis and the hot tub. Great location, only 5 mins drive to West Wittering beach which was lovely. 4 days was not enough!

Wonderful lodge for a family celebration

The property and grounds are exactly as shown and described, with the fantastic addition of a decorated tree and other Christmas decorations. A great house for a family gathering or celebration, with all the amenities you can think of, and a prepared hot-tub year round. Plenty of secure off-road parking, only 5 mins from the beaches and shops in East Wittering, and 15 mins from central Chichester. Melissa was very responsive and helped us with everything we needed, would highly recommend. Mark & Linh.

Great weekend away

A winter weekend for 2 families, both with young children. We had a great time at Bell Lodge, the house was spotless and extremely well presented. Fantastic facilities with a well equipped kitchen for those that like to cook. It was made more special by the Christmas decorations and the cosy log burner. Would definitely recommend.

Great family and friends getaway

We stayed at Bell Lodge over Easter with a big group of friends and young children and it couldn't have been better. From the outset Mel was very responsive, happy to answer any questions we had and very accomodating of our requests. The house itself is beautifully renovated with a balance of open plan and separate areas so that you can socialise but don't feel on top of each other and it is well stocked with everything you need to cater for a big group. The garden is safe for young children to run around and the trampoline and hot tub are great additions. The location (just a short drive from the Witterings beaches) is ideal and the local pub is lovely. All in all I would definitely recommend Bell Lodge and we hope to be back again soon. Thanks again Mel!

A huge house, beautifully presented and very comfortable

We rented this house to celebrate my son's 21st with family and friends. It accommodated 12 people very comfortably - including parking for everyone's cars. It is beautifully finished and very well-equipped. We loved it! and would definitely recommend it for a large family gathering.

The light and space in this property is superb and is always commented upon. There is space galore to cosy up or hide away. The house can be described as country house wth a bit of glamour thanks to some cleaver interior design. Stylish but unfussy. We are brilliantly located for all the area has to offer, beaches, villages, great pubs, cafes and restaurants. we are also only 12 min drive from the glorious City of Chichester , with its cathedral, markets shops and restaurants, 25 min to Goodwood for Festival of Speed or Revival Weekend. Plus amazing heritage sites, national areas of outstanding beauty and county houses local to the area.
