Kivestä rakennettu navetta muuntaminen kodikas elintilaa ja upeita laski näkemyksiä. Sijainti sopii mainiosti Cumbria ja Hadrianuksen seinään.

Fantastic cottage - We had the most amazing stay. The host were extremely friendly and helpful as well as the cottage being spotlessly clean. Even with the snow and being in winter, the cottage was really cosy and warm with blankets also being supplied. Lots of walks near by such as Hadrian's Wall and a Roman Fort, which were both a short drive away. We would definitely recommend High Force Waterfall which was a 30 min drive away however the drive was beautiful with some great views along the way. We had a fabulous week in Lord Mayor’s Barn.

We had a fabulous week in Lord Mayor’s Barn. Our hosts were very friendly & helpful without being at all intrusive. All very relaxed. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The cottage was lovely & cosy, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. We loved the large kitchen diner where we spent much of our time. Alston is very handily placed for day trips to Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder & the East coast up to Holy Island. The waterfall at Ashgill is a must-do local visit. There’s also a great circular walk from the cottage via Alston & part of the Pennine Way - spectacular in the Autumn. We didn’t try any of the takeaway options in the town, though the chippy has an excellent reputation. Big shoutout to the Nook Farm Shop & Cafe, who also do home-cooked main meals perfect for bunging in the microwave! We loved our visit and would definitely recommend Lord Mayor’s Barn. This is a very attractive and tasteful barn conversion. It is well fitted but retains the atmosphere of the original building. Comfortable and warm, conveniently laid out and well equipped. The hosts were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and on hand for any advice or problems if needed. It is well situated in a beautiful area with lots of interest but we visited when all visitor attractions were closed due to the virus and we ourselves were unable to eat out because of our need to be careful. Lord Mayor's barn is a solid, warm, welcoming barn in a beautiful area.

Lord Mayor's barn is a solid, warm, welcoming barn in a beautiful area. The hosts genuinely cared about us having a good time and were on hand to deal with any requests or issues. The barn is beautifully converted and was spotlessly clean on arrival. It was good to sit and have coffee in the morning looking out of the large arched window towards the hills and lovely to snuggle up at night on the sofa in front of the large wood-burning stove. Both bedrooms have ensuite toilets and sinks and the bathroom downstairs has a large bath which was good for a soak after a walk in the surrounding area. There are loads of possible day trips from the barn...to the lakes, the rest of Cumbria and the dales, Hadrian's wall and Northumberland. From Haltwhistle, you can get a train to the centre of Newcastle or Carlisle...loads of possibilities. We chose to spend our time doing some of the wonderful short walks in the area and then relaxing in the comfort of the barn. The local town of Alston is an easy walk away, just under a mile, and there are good pubs for food and decent cafes and some independent shops as well as a co-op. If you are looking for somewhere welcoming, comfortable and quiet in a beautiful area, I really wouldn't heistate to book Lord Mayor's Barn. Don't be put off that the owner's cottage is on the same "plot", the owners are delightful and want you to have a good time and you will not be in the slightest bit disturbed by them. Once in the barn, you will not even know there is another house anywhere near you! The barn is fully detached with very solid, thick walls and very quiet and peaceful. We visited in September but managed to have a little sit outside one evening to have some cheese and wine. I recommend this cottage without reservation.
