About this property
Cozy cabin at beautiful Bucks Lake, across road from lake. Recently remodeled.
Our cabin is 432 sq foot cabin across the road from the lake where you can water ski, jet ski, fish, look for bald eagles or osprey or just cruise. In the winter the cabin is only accessible via snowmobile or cross country skis. Its 4 miles from where the county stops plowing from the summit to the cabin and the road is closed to wheeled vehicles. The road is usually groomed along with many more miles of trails to ride or ski on. The bedroom has a full size bed, the loft has 2 twin beds and a twin size hide-a-bed downstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, oven and stove, and plenty of utensils. It has a propane fireplace and a propane BBQ. It has a large screen TV with DVR (there is no TV reception, but we do have netflix and Hulu from the wifi). There is no cell service, but it has a land line. There are two lodges with marinas where boats or kayaks can be rented. Each lodge has a restaurant, bar and general store. The area offers hiking (the pacific crest trail can be accessed in several spots), 4 wheeling, hunting in the fall and snowmobiling in the winter with many miles of groomed trails or boondocking, ice fishing, snowshoeing or cross country skiing. If you have questions call me.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tom’s Place. tom was reachable and extremely helpful during our stay. The place was clean and the rules were clear. Very good stay. Will be back!
Tom's cabin was great! Communication leading up to our stay was good. Check in was easy, as Tom was there to show us around. The cabin is cute and cozy, just what my wife and I wanted for a weekend getaway fishing Bucks lake. We will definitely stay here again!
Nice cabin in a quiet neighborhood. I had a boat and there was plenty of room to park. Close to three different boat launches and great fishing. Bucks lake is a treasure. This is a comfortable place to enjoy it.
Great trip again at a fantastic location. Although it’s small, it’s planned out really well and our family (5) has been comfortable staying here many times. Thank you for another great stay!!

Thanks Jennifer, it was good seeing you guys again
Tom's cabin was a great stay for a little weekend trip! Everything was just as the pictures show, and I'm sure that this would be an even better stay in the summer when the weathers nicer. Tom had great communication and was very helpful in answering questions. The only thing that I would recommend is maybe bringing your own personal bath towels; because of how they are stored in the cabin bathroom the ones provided have that wet then dried smell (like when wet kitchen towels stay out too long) and have a smell of urine because of how close they are to the toilet. Other than that minor thing, this was an excellent stay!

Thank you Autumn, We hope to see you again. I can assure you the linens are all washed after every guest leaves.
This is a wonderful little place within walking distance to the lake. It is cozy inside, but we spent most of our time at the lake. Tom is a wonderful host and our family will be back!
This was our 2nd stay at the cabin and we look forward to another visit! After enjoying beautiful Bucks Lake each day, you’ll be grateful for the hot showers and soft beds waiting for you in this clean and well thought out space. Thank you, Tom!

Thank you Jennifer and Jeff, it was great having you, and the fishing wasn't bad.
Everything was just as advertised. Cozy, welcoming and the perfect mountain lake cabin. Even when it was very warm outside, it was still comfortable inside with the late evening breeze. Can't wait to come back next year.

About the host

We live in Reno and enjoy outdoor activities. We are able to come to the cabin most weekends to relax. I grew up in Alberta, Canada and learned to enjoy winter activities because there's not a lot to do there in the winter. I've lived in Montana, Idaho and Colorado. Notice they all have Mountains? I have three daughters that are now grown and love coming to Bucks. The place grows on you and you can't wait to get back when you leave.
Why they chose this property
I wanted a cabin that we could enjoy year around. This is the perfect place, it doesn't get too crowded but still has all the amenities. We came up snowmobiling and stayed at the motel for a weekend in 2009. I fell in love with the area and knew I had to find a place that would be mine that I can pass on to my daughters. When I bought it, it was in pretty rough condition. My friends and I completely gutted it (this is when you find out who your true friends are), and remodeled it from a new foundation, wiring, plumbing, insulation and painting. We also resided it. Then we built the larger cabin attached to a corner of the original cabin. The road is paved all the way and in good condition. It is not uncommon to see deer, bald eagles, osprey and the occasional bear.
