Perfect mountain getaway for relaxing or outside activities. Sleeps 5.
About Tom McMeekin
We live in Reno and enjoy outdoor activities. We are able to come to the cabin most weekends to relax. I grew up in Alberta, Canada and learned to enjoy winter activities because there's not a lot to do there in the winter. I've lived in Montana, Idaho and Colorado. Notice they all have Mountains? I have three daughters that are now grown and love coming to Bucks. The place grows on you and you can't wait to get back when you leave.
Tom McMeekin purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Tom McMeekin chose Bucks Lake
I wanted a cabin that we could enjoy year around. This is the perfect place, it doesn't get too crowded but still has all the amenities. We came up snowmobiling and stayed at the motel for a weekend in 2009. I fell in love with the area and knew I had to find a place that would be mine that I can pass on to my daughters. When I bought it, it was in pretty rough condition. My friends and I completely gutted it (this is when you find out who your true friends are), and remodeled it from a new foundation, wiring, plumbing, insulation and painting. We also resided it. Then we built the larger cabin attached to a corner of the original cabin. The road is paved all the way and in good condition. It is not uncommon to see deer, bald eagles, osprey and the occasional bear.

Good for a small group (1-4). Close to Bucks Lake.
Right behind small, local market. Fire pit for making smores and singing songs around. Kitchen also contains the pull out couch for the 4th guest. We had a very nice stay.
Great stay at bucks lake!
This was our 2nd stay at the cabin and we look forward to another visit! After enjoying beautiful Bucks Lake each day, you’ll be grateful for the hot showers and soft beds waiting for you in this clean and well thought out space. Thank you, Tom!
Thank you Jennifer and Jeff, it was great having you, and the fishing wasn't bad.
Clean and nicely updated
Tom’s cabin was clean and cozy and our family of five fit just fine. The kids loved the loft and everything was as described. Thank you for a fun last minute getaway- we look forward to another visit!
Thank you Jennifer, looking forward to seeing you again this summer. Tom
Cozy place in a great spot!
It's a great place in a beautiful location. We visited in mid-October and it's certainly nice/peaceful. Tom is great at communication and laying out what's expected. He also provides plenty of suggestions when you talk to him which is nice. The place came with everything we needed. If you tidy up accordingly, you get your cleaning deposit back which is nice for not a huge amount of effort. There is a ton of wildlife in the area to enjoy. The store next to the cabin makes some great breakfast burritos and has a lot of items. Word of warning: cell service is nearly nonexistent in the area. So plan accordingly. Aside that, it's a great place to escape to for a long weekend, week, or rest of life.
Thank you Chris for the review, I'm glad everything worked well for you and hope to see you again. Thanks Tom
Tom's place was cozy & comfortable & well appointed. The location was convenient for getting to the lake & surrounding hiking trails. The outside area has a large picnic table and we would take some chairs that were provided and sit outside after a long day at the lake. Tom was helpful with his knowledge of the area and made us feel welcome in his place. Thanks for a nice vacation.
Thanks Tim, we're glad you had a good time and the weather cooperated. Let us know if you would like to use the cabin again. Thanks Tom
Great location. Very private.
Tiny living with all the comforts!
Thanks Gale, I'm glad you and your family had a good vacation, come back soon.
The pacific crest trail traverses the area with several access points. Lower Bucks lake does not allow motor boats like Bucks Lake does, but is ideal for swimming with a swimming dock and nice beach, it also has fishing. In the winter the county plows to the summit where there's a staging area and then its about a 4 mile snowmobile ride, cross country ski or snowshoe in. The road is groomed from the summit to the lake and past the cabin with many more miles of groomed trails to explore.
