ABC acres is a Permaculture Farmstead in the Bitterroot Valley of Western Montana - as our guest, join us in the adventures of growing and raising healthier food choices while regenerating the world around us.
Family owned/operated and established in the fall of 2012, ABC acres focuses on sustainable food production, healthy living systems, and regenerative ecological design. Our cattle, chickens, goats, turkeys, and pigs are out on open pasture, eating, resting, and living the way nature intended. Much like our livestock family, our vegetables, herbs, fruits, and nuts are grown with the same approach. It’s a mixture of annuals and perennials intertwined with pollinator species, companion plantings, and multi-structured food forests. It’s nature’s way…..a way of reducing disease, increasing harvest, and ensuring diversity for an overall healthy farm. In fact, doing things that mirror natural ecosystems is the focus of our operations.
The Guest House was built in 2014. Offering four dedicated bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms, comfortable living/dining space, and well-equipped kitchen, the Guest House interior sits at about 1800 sqft. The structure was built with no VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) both inside and out, and non-toxic spray foam insulation, which speaks to the underlying theme of healthy environments which pervade throughout the farmstead. The Guest House offers both forced heat and air conditioning for your comfort, complete with HEPA filtration for high quality interior air all season long. To insure a clean, healthy drinking/bathing experience, all water is routed through an iron filtration system then finally through an ‘Alive Water’ system to reinvigorate & re-energize the water at all points of use. On the exterior, a covered deck along with outdoor dining set and lounge furniture for your relaxation and viewing pleasure. Seasonal strawberry patches situated off the North side, as well as a selection of culinary herbs for use in the kitchen, are all yours to enjoy.
The Guest House is situated in the heart of the farm. Positioned alongside the seasonal waterway (April to October), the implement shed, and in close proximity to the goat barn, livestock paddocks, and owners’ residence, the Guest House pays witness to many daily activities of the farm. As a guest of the farm, and from the comfort of the West-facing porch, you may witness osprey fishing for trout in the waterway, farm staff running pasture irrigation, elk & deer grazing the pastures at dusk, any number of processes that go into the design and earthwork of a fully-functioning Permaculture system, and much much more. It is these on-farm experiences that give staying at ABC acres its uniqueness and charm.
As you settle into your stay, be sure to take in all the sights, sounds, and activities that ABC acres has to offer. Self-guided walking maps will direct you around the property….take time to read the informational kiosks strategically positioned throughout, enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon rest alongside the Crater Garden recreation & picnic area, spend some time photographing the various livestock, watch the honey bees buzzing amongst the diverse plant selection or, better yet, grab a fishing pole and stroll down to the Bitterroot River to try your hand at hooking dinner! As a guest of the farm, many complementary activities await during your stay….it’s just a matter of how you might wish to spend your time.
Conveniently located just a few miles South of Hamilton, a short walk to the Bitterroot River, and bordered by picturesque farms and public lands, ABC acres provides an idyllic combination of wide-open spaces, wildlife, and outdoor adventure, while also remaining just minutes from the Valley’s small town happenings and city amenities. Be it fishing, hiking, or boating...golfing, skiing, or wine-tasting...grocery stores and dining....or rock climbing and hot air ballooning….whatever you might fancy, ABC acres is within its reach.
Don’t hesitate to contact our Farm Stay Manager with any questions you might have, where/what you can explore, and how to best enjoy the abundance of on- and off-farm activities available. Beyond a place to simply rest your head, ABC acres is here to enhance your visit and help create memories for a lifetime.

We loved it!
We had such a great experience and look forward to a return visit when we're back in the area! Thanks so much!
Thank you Melissa, was great to have met you all and definitely hope our paths cross again in the near future. All the best!
Wonderful home in a beautiful setting. Perfect!
Beautiful home in a beautiful setting. Will definitely be coming back! Even got to see and touch some baby goats and pigs. Everything was so nice and super comfy beds!
ABC farms is a wonderful vacation rental for anyone looking for a beautiful relaxing place to stay.
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at ABC farms while we were in town for a wedding. The home was very nice, the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook/bake, the rooms were very comfortable and stylish. Our three year old absolutely loved the bunk beds.
This setting was just what my husband and I wanted for our two young boys. Every morning we would wake up and pick strawberries off the front porch, walk around the farm, and hike down to the river. The play area and tree house were an added bonus. This home is definitely very family and child friendly. Our family will definitely be back!
Relaxing and fun farm stay
We spent a lovely week at ABC Acres and just loved it! The house was very comfortable for the 4 of us, especially the kitchen which is big and well equipped. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful and the animals so interesting to visit and take numerous photos of (as I did!). We especially enjoyed regular visits with Cargo, one of the cats. She is very affectionate and quite the hunter! This farm is a unique and special place to relax and enjoy this part of Montana.
Dear Bill and Janette,
Thank you for the kind words, and it was equally a pleasure having you all as guests....could not have asked for nicer folks to spend a week with us at ABC acres, enjoyed our numerous chats around the farm, and we thank you for the utmost respect shown to the house and property.
We wish you all the very best, and hope to cross paths again before too long.

The guest house was very nicely appointed, with a lovely view in a great location.
The guest house was very nicely appointed, with plenty of space, comfy beds, some nice details like the lovely dining table, and a wonderful view of the Bitteroot mountains. The flowers round the house have come up and were buzzing with bees. The staff were very helpful and quick to respond to questions. It was particularly wonderful to be able to walk down to the Bitteroot river to fish and swim and watch the wildlife, including the red squirrels and Great Horned owls, as well as being able to see the farm animals and farming. We hiked in the area, went riding and fishing, and the house was perfectly placed for this. We were all sorry to have to come home.
The house had everything you needed for a stay. Clean, great sleeping arrangements and views.
The house was comfortable for the 7 of us staying. The kids loved the bunk beds and the animals. The farm manager and guest manager were friendly and inviting. If there was anything we needed, all we had to do was ask and it was met. The kitchen was stocked with anything we needed for cooking. It was like being at home! We especially loved sitting on the porch watching the sunsets and spectacular mountain views. The location is convientent to outdoor activities and downtown Hamilton. If you are staying in the Bitterroot Valley, definitely stay at ABC Acres!
Hi there Justin.
