About this property

Beautifully Restored house of pleasure on Main St above Ponderosa Wine Bar

"The Scandia House Loft" was a labor of Love, it took two years to restore this former house of Pleasure. In the process of restoration we discovered old coins, whore house tokens, old newspapers ,wooden nickels and other artifacts. It left us with this beautiful place in downtown Hamilton, Montana over The Ponderosa Wine Bar and Bistro... we added a lovely 2nd floor deck with access to the roof top lounge with a fantastic view of the Bitter-root and Sapphire Mountains. You'll agree it is an enchanting place to stay...We look forward to meeting you all...

What an awesome place to stay! Very conveniently located. We appreciated all of the amenities within the property as well as the history. Craig was very easy to communicate with and personally gave us an orientation upon arrival. They did a great job of restoring the property. Definitely coming back if we are in the area again.

This is about our 10th stay here because we have family in town. We love the apartment and the hosts are great. They leave some breakfast food and snacks, always have fresh flowers and the location is right downtown. There are restaurants and shops nearby as well as a Safeway across the highway so very convenient.

A hidden gem! We visit the Bitterroot often and this was by far our favorite place. It’s right downtown and you can walk everywhere. The apartment is beautifully updated and Craig offers amenities that nobody else does. We will definitely be back!!

This “House of Pleasure” is unique, well located and fun to stay at. Access to downtown Hamilton is a 15 second walk. The refrigerator is better stocked than the one at our home :-). This was our second stay, and I would highly recommend it.

The Scandia Loft is the perfect place to stay for your Hamilton adventure! Craig is a wonderful host, and the attention to detail made for such a fantastic stay. The first word out of my mouth was”Wow!” when I walked into the loft. There is so much space, including a lovely private patio plus access to the rooftop patio! Fresh flowers were in both bedrooms and the dining room. The kitchen had absolutely anything we needed! I loved that the light switches were labeled, making it easy to figure out which switch turned on which light! Hamilton is super walkable, so we enjoyed the local coffee shops and restaurants, then did some fun shopping in the small businesses along Main Street. I highly recommend booking the Scandia Loft. You won’t regret it!

Well equipped unit, host has gone over the top to make sure everything is there. Fun location in downtown Hamilton. Excellent dining within walking range. Second floor unit so only access is via stairs. Host communicated well, showed up for check-in and provided a tour of the space.

This is an amazing place to stay. A hidden gem in Montana. It’s so much more than simply clean and convenient. It’s a truly amazing place that is incredibly warm, relaxing, and welcoming. It’s a great vacation base to launch adventures and come back to relax. If traveling for business, it’s great for hosting small professional gatherings. The host is extremely responsive and welcoming - fresh cut flowers on the table, chocolate treats, and even ice cream in the refrigerator. I would leap at the opportunity to stay here again and I’m looking for excuses to return.

We are an active couple that met in High School and are living the Dream in the lovely Bitter-root Mountains where there are plenty of things to do, Fly fishing, Hiking, Skiing ...Cafe Dining...Art Galleries, boutique shops... I digress, We like to save and restore old buildings together and we add them back to the communities original character.

Fantastic, Fresh, Cozy in the center of town above The Ponderosa Wine, Bar and Bistro close to everything, Cafes, Art Galleries,
view of the Sapphires and the Bitter root mountains from the rooftop, you can see up and down the valley.

What makes this property unique

My wife and I bought this Property ten years ago. It was the 2nd or 3rd brick building on Main Street. The city father "Marcus Daly The Copper King" built the Bank 1st and the Scandia Whore House 2nd or 3rd. In 1897, 120 years ago we didn't know it at the time but, we bought the downtown religious shrine (Just Kidding). As we took it apart we found old coin, whorehouse tokens and the gabled skylights. It looks like a crystal palace now compared to the dark hole it was. Then we put in a roof top lounge, 2nd floor deck, restored the murals downstairs and the Ponderosa Wine Bar and Bistro. Upstairs we put, in tin ceilings 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The cozy bar has an 1875 railroad map and club chairs it has a great vibe through out. We put up a 5 piece wainscot to represent the way we felt it would have looked back in the day, I used gold and black oriental rugs all a round. The street side great room has a beautiful gas fireplace and dining area. Well equipped Kitchen with a Black walnut island for your prep work
