Along with our 2 daughters, partners, 4 children and 4 dogs, we were joined by our son and grandson from California for a 5-day retreat.Always important to us was, and is, the wish/need to provide as much opportunity for contact-time between siblings and cousins …a family separated by the Pacific Ocean for 15 years. (Emails, Messages, and Messenger Calls are fine, but don’t cut the mustard!) The attention to detail at Charleson is remarkable and the owners need to be commended for it. There was never a kitchen gadget missing, knives were sharp, complementary coffee pods, herbs and spices were much appreciated, as was the delightful local sparkling Riesling etc. (Chilli tomato sauce yet to be savoured.) Too many to mention …the games cupboard, wet weather closet, snakebite/bushfire preparation, books and magazines. The leather-bound introductory folder was so comprehensive, educational (-re snake bites), and enjoyable (learning goats and ponies names and personalities). Except for mealtimes, the young ones happily occupied the games room pretty much all the time. Special attention must be made of the pool which young and adventurous set their clocks for 6.00am to watch stars slowly make way for glorious sunrises (and also sunsets) …and for the hardy ones at other times during the day …despite the rain! Our fire-pit night was another good opportunity for star gazing as we dodged occasional swirls of smoke.Strongly recommended for your next get-away.
