Real nice place that was very clean, clean, clean.

Enjoyed our stay in a great house. Susan makes the best banana bread. I forgot the electrical plug for my computer and Susan was kind enough to bring me hers. This house was very clean and we enjoyed our stay. It is off the beaten path and has everything you would need to get away and rewind.

Beautiful, large, clean and comfortable home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Susan’s home. The house is far larger than the pictures show and had more than enough space for our ladies weekend away. The home is beautifully restored and is absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed an afternoon walk during our stay - it is located in a beautiful area. We are planning to return again soon! Everything about our stay was perfect!

They say you can't go home again... I disagree

  • 5 of 5

Wife and I stayed here in the fall, the weather was perfect for our trip. The home is well kept, everything we needed was provided and Susan was very helpful. We enjoyed the pictures placed around the house - it would be awesome if there were a little label or something on the back that tells you who is in the photo - we just had to guess and tried to piece together the mystery as best we could =) Just a warning to those folks who may be looking for super seclusion -this house is very close to a very busy road (for where it is). It didn't bother us a bit, but I could see where someone might be unhappy with that. When we sat on the porch we just kept saying "where in the heck are all these people going"? There is pretty much no traffic at night though, so you all you hear is the breeze. Very nice place, we hope to visit again soon!

Owner's Response: We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our century farmhouse. We didn't think anyone would much care who were in our photos but, we have taken your advice and placed a label on the back of each photo giving the member/relationship of the family they are. Thanks for that idea.

About Susan Read

The farmhouse was built by my husband's great grandfather circa 1885. My husband's grandfather, mother, my husband and our children were raised on the farm and have so many wonderful memories of their lives here. We built our home on the farm property and view the pond, farmhouse, barn and buildings every day. It is a reminder of the effort and commitment made by those before us to preserve it for future generations to use and enjoy.

Susan Read purchased this farmhouse in 1873

Why Susan Read chose Curwensville

The farmhouse and 200 acre farm has been passed down through 6 generations. We feel so blessed to have such a rich heritage and it is our desire as a family to use, preserve and maintain it for generations to come.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The entire home is available per booking. Family reunions, events, holidays and special celebrations could be enjoyed in this spacious 12 room farmhouse. We are 30 minutes from I-80 (Clearfield exit), 40 minutes from I-99 (Tyrone exit), 2 hrs from Pittsburgh, 3 hrs from Harrisburg and Lancaster and 5 hrs from New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. This is a beautiful and well equipped country farmhouse in the center of the state ready to be used and enjoyed. It offers a relaxing and peaceful setting for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Nearby summer activities include hiking, boating, fishing etc. Each season offers its own unique beauty and activities. Spring is a refreshing time to visit with the countryside turning green and flowering trees in bloom. Summer is a popular time for families to get together for reunions, weddings, or retreats. Fall is one of the most beautiful times to stay when the surrounding hillsides are shades of yellow, red, and orange with the fall foliage. The winter months of December, January, and February are quieter times here in the country but the farmhouse offers a cozy place for a winter get-together, writers retreat, or those wanting solitude and stillness or special times with family around the holidays.
