At Charlie's Cove, we are dedicated to giving you all of the comforts of home, away from home. Unwind with peaceful naps in the hammock or a canoe through the cove. Or, enjoy watching a movie on Netflix with our Samsung Smart TV and high-speed internet or take a pick from our extensive DVD library.

Charlie's Cove rental comes all-inclusive with a boat and motor, as well as a pontoon water taxi upon check-in and check out. Conveniently located 3 min from the marina and 15 min from Havelock.

Beautiful In and Out

Make yourself at home in this beautiful, comfortable cottage. There are lots of windows for the great view of the lake and surrounding treed property. Any needs we had were promptly met by the hosts to give us a really great summer getaway. Overall, we loved this holiday.

The BEST possible vacation for dog owners

My wife and I have rented a lot of places over the years for vacation, work and general travel and we have to say, hands down Sabrina and her family were among the best hosts we've ever had the privilege of renting from. Whenever you’re renting with your dogs there is always a degree of concern, are they going to be safe, will the neighbours be friendly to pets, etc… Charlie’s Cove can only be described as puppy paradise. Not only were all of the surrounding cottages dog friendly and super friendly with our puppies, but the other dogs on the island were also super friendly. Being able to let the dogs out in the morning and watch them swim, run, explore, and make friends while we were on vacation was a MASSIVE stress relief. In addition to this, we had several guests joining at various times throughout our stay (We were there for 2 weeks) including my 91 year-old grandmother. Sabrina and Brad were incredibly accommodating in helping ferry her across on the pontoon boat and they went above and beyond at every step to make us feel welcome, safe and well taken care of. The location itself was beautiful, the water was easy to get into and an amazing temperature. A little weedy and rocky so definitely bring water shoes. The cottage was well equipped and the internet worked well for not only streaming but video calls, games on rainy days and staying connected everywhere on the property. At night the cottage can get warm during a heatwave but there were lots of fans available for use to stay cool and the furniture was extra comfortable. The additional bunky was a great option for family staying to give them their own space without feeling crowded! We were so fortunate to get a chance to spend some time at Charlie’s Cove this summer and are hoping to go back again another year! Do not miss out on a chance to visit this small slice of paradise!

My name is Sabrina Greer. I am an author and publisher, lover of nature and mom of 3 boys. I spent my summers since birth on Belmont Lake. My grandfather, Charlie Dodds built 3 cottages in the '50s. One, my family and I took over in 2013, another was sold to his best friend and the other my husband and I were able to purchase back this year, Charlie's Cove.

You will hear whispers on the lake of a wonderful man named Charlie Dodds who used to live on Big Island, Belmont Lake, year-round, travelling by hovercraft in the off-seasons and bringing joy to all whose paths he crossed. This cove is Charlie’s legacy, built with love (and a little elbow grease) in 1957, and lovingly updated to bring you subtle luxuries without taking away Charlie’s rustic charm. If you are lucky, you may get to meet Charlie, 93 years young, at his granddaughter's cottage next door.

Charlie's Cove is located on Big Island, Belmont Lake and is boat access only. We will provide a pontoon boat water taxi upon arrival and departure. There is an aluminum boat and motor available for hire (included as the administration fee) should you need to pop over to Campbells Marina for incidentals or Kawartha Dairy ice cream.
