Perfect Spot for Historic District; Some Details to Consider
This property has many pluses -- excellent location for exploring the city on foot. It is near restaurants, shops, and historic attractions. The walk down Bull Street was particularly enjoyable. Parking in Savannah can be challenging, so having a paid space in the parking garage was a plus. However, as a solo traveler, I was uncomfortable walking the three blocks to the apartment when I arrived at night since I didn't know the neighborhood is. I was especially concerned about one block undergoing construction with fences and scaffolding providing hidden corners. Later my brother assured me that particular area was safe to walk.
I expected an historic building with some charm. The apartment is nicely decorated; however, it is somewhat sparsely furnished. The photos are very accurate, so use them as a guide.
Another reviewer mentioned noise from the street on the weekend. I didn't have problems with noise on a Sunday night; however, I was awakened by the church bells at 8 a.m. and then every 15 minutes after.
I would consider renting this again, because of the location, but wouldn't plan on spending a lot of time in the apartment. I'd been hoping for a writing getaway, and it wasn't quite comfortable for that purpose.
Stay here! You won't regret it!
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary in Savannah and stayed at this perfectly located apartment. From this location we were able to easily walk to various parts of the city and enjoy the beautiful city squares, historic buildings, shopping areas, and amazing restaurants. The property was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. If we ever travel to Savannah again, we will definitely inquire about staying here!
Great central location!
This property has a great location to the historic district. There is lots of space to get cozy. There's a fun view from the windows. Very clean and felt like it could be home. Only downside is the noise from the street at night. The access to resturants and shops outweights any noise from the street.
Super clean property, perfect location for exploring Savannah!
Beautiful condo with access to everything!
My fiance and I booked this property last-minute after other travel plans fell through, and we could not have been more pleasantly surprised. The condo was located in the center of everything; perfect walking distance to both the river and Forsyth Park. The private condo had all of the amenities that we could have needed and more- there was a laundry unit, place settings and glassware for 6, a dishwasher, TV with cable and fast wifi, and a parking spot included in the Robinson Garage. There was even a noise machine to use when sleeping if the sounds of the city prevent you from getting to sleep.
In addition to the amazing location and ample amenities, one of the property managers, Jennifer, provided her cell phone number and was very quick to text back when we had questions about checking in/checking out/parking. The entire process was absolutely wonderful. I look forward to staying at this property the next time I am in Savannah!
Savannah historic district
First if you want a central location to visit the historical district of Savannah this place is ideal. If you do not have a car you can visit the entire historical district. However, there are a few drawbacks. One is the noise generated by the street, tour buses and walking tours. Plus Thursday, Friday and Sat after midnight there are groups of loud people returning from River ST and you are woke up every 15 or 20 minutes. Second is the parking. While the free parking at the garage was a nice feature the garage was 1/5 of a mile away from the unit. We have visited Savannah at least 10 times so we . do venture out of the city quite frequently. Some days twice a day so parking in the garage then back to the unit then back to the garage became a hassle. So, I simply paid to park on the street during the day. Bringing in groceries also was a little hassle. Then you were faced with 30 stair steps to climb. While the unit itself was nicely furnished the kitchen is only functional for breakfast and a light lunch. Trying to cook a real dinner was hard. There are no serving bowls. Only 4 plates or so, 4 cups, 3 spoons so you simply end up running the dishwasher multiple times a day.
The majority of our guests actually want to park their car and leave it instead of using it 2 times a day like this guest. I am sorry that the distance to the parking deck we pay for was 1/5 of a mile (indeed it is 2 blocks) but we provide this as a courtesy and it comes in very handy for the majority of people. The number of stairs to the 2nd floor is about 6 fewer than the referenced 30. But indeed there are stairs. This is a 2 story building without an elevator. The condo is on the 2nd floor. It is a historic building so the ceilings are tall and the flight is a bit higher than a modern low ceiling house, however the front entrance stairway is not steep, it is very wide and easy to use with a low rise steps hence the "high step count" as a result. An individual who has trouble with stairs should book lodging that has an elevator or is ground level. I can assist with the selection of a suitable unit if someone sends me a message asking for suggestions. Additionally, guests who want to have easier access to their car for multiple driving errands may wish to select a different spot, perhaps about 1/2 mile into the center of the laid back residential area of the Historic District. This condo is beyond ideal for the traveler who wants lodging where the parking is covered in a place where the car does not need to be moved around, and where restaurants are all within easy walking distance along with nightlife, shops and museums.
