"The views overlooking the forest are as beautiful as the pictures. The apartment was cozy, and had plenty of space. Gabe came by to show us around but after that they left us to enjoy the space on our own." Omar, October 2016

"Pat's place is wonderful. Has everything you need inside. Amazing pool, hot tub and view outside. Cool area too. Some fun things to do around including an awesome sports complex." Jeremy, October 16

"Wonderful space and location. We celebrated a birthday and Pat was very helpful in planning our trip before we arrived. The house is amazing and the view is mouth watering. I would recommend this place to all of my friends. Oh and if your in the mood the horse shoe and bocce ball court is a must." Philip, September 2016

"What a unique and special spot! I was welcomed into Pats secluded home and stayed in a beautifully decorated space downstairs. Her dog was very friendly and enjoyed the pool. What a view!" Neil, September 2016

"The beautiful scenery, the silence, the pool and Pat and Gabe's kindness! I would reccomend Pat and Gabe to anyone who is looking for the perfect getaway from the busy NYC! We had the most wonderful time in Shelton." Helena, August 2016

"Pat and Gabe we're welcoming and openly communicative upon our arrival. The space was beautiful and exactly like the photos. We enjoyed the pool with Gabe and their dog Rooney on our second evening there, a much needed escape from the intense heat we have been experiencing. Our dogs loved exploring the grounds and hanging by us in the pool enclosure. There are beaches, shopping and restaurant nearby if you decide to travel outside the home. A great getaway from our normal routine!" Diana, August 2016

"We enjoyed our stay in this cozy apartment. We were cheerful welcomed by Pat and Gabe, our hosts. They did everything to give us a warm feeling. We recommend this house to people who like a quiet surrounding and a beautiful swimming pool." Kees, August 2016

"The property is beautiful and the view is spectacular from the home. Pat has done an exceptional job decorating the place and ensuring that you have everything you need for a great home away from home." Mayuri, July 2016

"This was a lovely, peaceful, quiet and clean place to stay for a couple of nights while my son was at a day soccer camp in a nearby town. We took advantage of the pool a couple of times, and joined by their super-friendly dog at one point, which was fun. The apartment was very nicely appointed, with a lot of extras in the kitchen, which was helpful, as we did a little cooking, It was also nice and cool! We were there during a heat wave, and it was perfectly comfortable. I would highly recommend staying here, particularly if you need to be close to New Haven (about 20 minutes). Thank you, Pat and Gabe!" Caroline, July 2016

"My husband, our 3 month old and I all had a wonderful time at Pat and Gabe's. It was the perfect escape from the city. Their place was exactly as advertised and the pool with a view was awesome. Pat and Gabe were very hospitable and welcoming. Roonie their dog was great too! Although they were home for the weekend and with family over, we did not feel crowded or bothered by them at all. Our main goal was to maximize pool time and we accomplished that! We definitely would stay here again." Giselka, July 2016

"Our hosts were very welcoming. They greeted us when we arrived late on a Friday night. The apartment was very nice. It had everything we needed. It was located below their house but still felt like a very separate space. It was a bit foggy through the weekend but the views were still great. Pat even offered us an extra day due to weather, which was very kind. It's a nice apartment in a beautiful location." Matt, July 2016

"The house is absolutely beautiful and very nice if you are planning for a short trip:)! We drove from New York city and the location wasn't difficult to find! Very convenient that we ordered Planet pizza for dinner and we loved it! also we saw the best sunset ever and view from the pool is WOW! My dog Oliver loves here as well! Pat and Gabe are also a very great host they even provided us Ice cream sandwiches and S'mores at night! Love it and great experience ever! Thank you guys!" Angela, July 2016

"Pat and Gabe (and also Rooney) were fantastic hosts, and their home is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed a long weekend out by the pool, used the grill to make some great dinners, and ultimately had exactly what we wanted -- a relaxing weekend away from the city. I would recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a quick getaway! The house is a quick and easy $15 uber away from Metro North, and Pat offered to pick us up! Pat and Gabe gave us our space, and made it feel like we had the place to ourselves. They were kind available when we had any questions, and even gave us some supplies to make s'mores on the grill. You get exactly what they listing shows, and it is as amazing as it looks!" Ross, July 2016

"It was a wonderful night! Pat and Gabe were welcoming, warm, and gracious. I would recommend this to anyone! Thanks guys!!" Tami, June 2016

"Our weekend spent at Pat and Gabe's place was amazing! They were so welcoming (even picked us up from the train station) The house was clean, poolside was great; we will surely come back! Ps. If you are into Italian food, go to Biagio's Osteria. It's a 10 min drive and the food is better than what I had in Italy." Levana, June 2016

"We had a great time! we brought our dog and loved the space! the pool was a lovely feature that we got to enjoy each day we were there along with a peaceful setting." Crystal, June, 2016

"Pat and Gabe (and Rooney!) were terrific hosts and immediately made me feel welcome into their home. The location was very quiet and serene. I felt like i was staying far out of the way, but yet only minutes from all the amenities you could need. The apartment was more than I could have expected and would stay here again if the need ever arises." Jere, June, 2016

About Pat

"Not all who wander are lost." Although we have been occasionally accused of not being able to find our place, we always come back to Connecticut! Oh, a grandchild is a powerful magnet and the reason we bought this amazing property. We are a photographer -- writer/producer team about to embark on our next project once we put the finishing touches on our home renovation. The latter isn't progressing as quickly as it might as we have our darling 3 yo granddaughter here two days a week, but we are in the home stretch.

Pat purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Pat chose Shelton

Well, porches, decks, balconies, woodlands, rock outcroppings, spectacular views, parading wildlife, a sense of seclusion, and 40 solar panels; who could ask for anything more? Oh, the lowest taxes in Fairfield County and being 10 minutes from 99% of everything we need (including our granddaughter) doesn't hurt either! Did I mention the swimming pool with it's hidden under-deck? Trés cool. Well, we recall the adage that you never want to own the most expensive house in a neighborhood, but just maybe that is why we could afford it in the first place!

What makes this apartment unique

I think I've somewhat covered the unique benefits, other than the flexible layout which was extremely conducive to our plans which are somewhere between totally unknown, and those that often change over night. It also was a challenge to cure all the faults that had been somewhat intentionally built in to the property. Like the fact that the only way to the garage was through the apartment; and that the backyard was really in the front yard meaning mud-caked children had to enter through the formal vestibule rather than a proper but non-existent back door. And, in fact, that all manner of icky or heavy things had to take a rather long and strenuous journey just to get inside the house through any of its many doors, all of them placed for graceful living rather than practicality. So there you have it. We're still grappling with what to do with the toilet in the under-deck and an upstairs foyer the size and shape of a good-sized master bedroom, but it's all good.

  • 5 of 5

Me and my wife spent a weekend with our dog. Everything was perfect. Swimming in the pool and relaxing in the hot tub after a day hiking in the area, bbq in the evening, movie on a massive flat screen tv at night...what more does a person need. Enjoy!

Owner's Response: Aimee was a model guest so she was a breeze to host even when we had a late-season 2+ feet of snow! And she's right about "close to all" as we consider anything over 15 minutes away a road trip! Still we are surrounded by woodland on all sides and have wildlife sightings nearly daily. Our most recent: a jaunty red fox who prefers prancing along the driveway to slinking through the woods.
