Last minute weekend get away!
My wife and I decided to take a last minute long weekend to explore the Georgetown Lake area on our ATV. Stella was quick to respond to our request and very helpful in her directions. The house was awesome! It was stocked with everything in the kitchen that we needed over the weekend.
The first part of the weekend was cold and rainy so we spent the evenings in front of the gas fireplace instead of the outdoor fire pit which worked out great! It was also nice to be able to park my pickup in the garage. It wasn't a problem for us, but I thought it was odd that we had to take our garbage with us when we left.
It's only a mile to Georgetown Lake and you can ride ATV's right from the house. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone staying in the area. We're looking forward to coming back to explore more of the Georgetown/Philipsburg area!
What a great place to enjoy the holidays!
I don't think you could ask for a nicer home to stay in Georgetown. The owner was great to work with and very accommodating.
This cabin/rental/house is perfect for our small group. Location is just right along with the amenities. We couldn’t ask for anything more except for maybe a ‘moose spotting’ now and then!!! ;)
A great getaway location
This home is a beautiful furnished, comfortable getaway. Although we only cooked breakfast there, everything we would have needed for any cooking we chose to do was available. There was obviously a lot of attention paid to comfort and livability. The beds were wonderful; the twin over full bunk bed was perfect for our grandchildren. The furniture in the living area was very amenable for reading, visiting and just hanging out. The hosts were very helpful. The kids enjoyed toasting marshmallows in the firepit. We had a very relaxing time and the location was perfect to explore Anaconda, Phillipsburg and Deer Lodge.
Beautiful well kept home!
We loved our stay. The home was well kept. Had a great open concept so everyone could be together. Well stocked kitchen.
Our only concern was that we had a difficult time with the deadbolt, which was the only way to lock the front door. It might be good to have a lock and deadbolt. We emailed the owners and they responded quickly.
We would recommend this property to others.
Nice cabin, poor communication
The cabin is super nice, close to the activities we came to Montana for, and had more than enough accommodations inside (besides a crock pot the cook was used of having).
However, communication from the owner was very disappointing and even became stressful. We took off for vacation a week before arriving in Montana. We were in an area where we did not have cell phone reception. I had contacted the owner a month in advance to communicate this to her as I needed access to the cabin information. She said she would give it to me the week before. I explained this would not be soon enough as we would not be able to retrieve her message and other members of our group would be arriving with food to her cabin prior to our arriving. I understand forest fires supposedly played a part in the lack of communication, however, we felt that this information could have been given to me a month in advance when I reached out to the owner. Instead, I was making phone calls and emails to owner and VRBO days before leaving on our vacation. The day prior to leaving, I was frantically looking for other lodging accommodations. VRBO assured us they would not leave us 'high and dry' - they would put us up in some type of 'motel'. Obviously they do not know the Montana area well.
All in all, the cabin is super nice, but we miss the previous owner's organizational/comunication skills.
Thank you, Starla Ehrisman
Georgetown Lake is located 14 miles west of Anaconda, and 10 miles south of Philipsburg in the heart of three mountain ranges; the Anaconda Pintlers (to the South), the Sapphire Range (to the West), and the Flint Creek Range (to the East).
This is one of the top and most popular recreating areas in southwest Montana. Discovery Ski Area is ranked amongst the best ski areas in the region with the varying terrain and reasonable lift tickets. Discovery is located 4 miles from our home!
Below is a description from the Georgetown Lake website:
Georgetown Lake is home to large populations of trophy sized rainbow and brook trout as well as large numbers of kokanee salmon. This blue ribbon fishery, along with some of the best ice fishing in the state, is rated Montana’s most prolific lake with more fish caught per person than any other lake in Montana.
Large tracts of the Deer Lodge National Forest and other public land provide prime habitat for abundant wildlife and big game. This, along with a myriad of nearby rivers, streams, creeks and mountain lakes, trail systems that extend hundreds of miles, challenging Discovery Ski Mountain, 3 nearby golf courses including top-rated, Jack Nicklaus designed, Old Works Golf Course, make the Georgetown Lake area a recreational paradise and one of the most beautiful places in the country.
It is also the perfect family getaway. Leave the computer and video games behind and watch your kids catch their first fish, scream with delight as they come across a moose 4-wheeling to a remote mountain lake, help you build a fire for your camp side dinner, conquer the moguls on a snow board, take to the air kite boarding or quietly watch a grazing herd of elk. Georgetown Lake will create the memories that will last a lifetime.
