Space 850 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms: one small and one large for a max total of up to 6 guests

Ground floor apartment of our Brooklyn brownstone/townhouse.

The house was built in 1898 and has lots of beautiful original details. Free WiFi included as well as Coffee/tea with a Keurig Platinum Brewing system. The kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of cups, glasses, pots and pans, etc. We recently renovated the kitchen with new cool zinc countertops.

Guests may also use our beautiful decked garden area with a bamboo wall, couches and an outdoor fireplace table. We live in the house upstairs and generally leave guests to themselves, but the garden is shared with us, and we may hang out by the fire pit with friends on occasions.

The apartment has one large bedroom with a Queen size bed and a twin size daybed that also has a trundle bed underneath. Both are beautiful Restoration Hardware furniture pieces. The small bedroom is really just for sleeping and has a twin size bed and another pull-out twin size bed trundle underneath. Please see photos.

For guests staying during the hot summer months (July/August), we have a standalone air conditioner in the main bedroom, but there is no AC in the small bedroom or the kitchen. It's generally just fine with the fans we have, but if you are very sensitive to heat and need the room cold, then this may not be the best place in the summer. Please always turn off the AC when leaving the apartment to help us preserve engery.

A few blocks to Prospect Park with beautiful walks, great for jogging or cycling. The Audubon Center is right there by the Lake with Boat Rides. At the Prospect Park tennis center, there are always courts available by the hour. Prospect park also hosts the famous Drummers Circle and Brooklyn's large farmers market on weekends at Grand Army Plaza.

The kitchen has a 4 ring Wolf gas stovetop, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and all the utensils needed. The smart TV has lots of cable channels as well as netflix, amazon prime, etc.

No smoking anywhere inside or in the garden, no parties, and no guests other than the guests on the reservation.

Why Sylvia & Andre chose Prospect-Lefferts Gardens Historic District

We live in a lovely landmark protected neighborhood. All the houses were built in the late 1800s and very well taken care of. It's a little like Sesame street, with stoops where people hang out and chat with one another.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Cozy spot, perfect launching pad for weekend fun!

  • 5 of 5

Idyllic location for our girls' weekend. Quiet, cozy and quirky spot, perfect for 6 old friends to laugh and make new memories. Good bed setup for us and love the 2 showers in the bathroom - efficiency at its best! Wonderful hosts ensured we had all we needed, including last-minute refill of the propane tank so we could enjoy the backyard fire pit on a chilly night.

Great space! Clean, comfortable and kind hosts

  • 5 of 5

This place was fantastic. The hosts go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. Andre was very kind and accommodating. We liked that it had 2 showers in the bathroom which made it easier for our group of 6 to get ready for the day. The back patio is beautiful and we found the apartment to be really charming. We hope to be back again next time we visit Brooklyn

Fun spot for nyc visitors

  • 4 of 5

A lovely spot perfect for out three person family. Thoughtfully appointed for travelers. We were there in very cold weather and this didn’t take advantage of the pretty backyard patio, which I’m sure would be wonderful in warm weather. Close to subway, good neighborhood restaurants nearby.

Perfect weekend rental

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the Brownstone during a recent visit with our daughter who lives in Brooklyn. The neighborhood is beautiful, safe, and quiet, and we were able to get on street parking right in front of the apartment. The apartment was perfect and is very quaint. Sylvia and Andre are great hosts and were very accommodating. We will definitely stay there again.

Not clean nor well equipped.

  • 1 of 5

While the property is interestingly quirky, we were not impressed with the cleanliness, location or overall experience. The backyard, while cute, was quite dirty.

Owner's Response: we are sorry that the apartment or neighborhood was not what you expected. We always try to keep the photos and description as accurate as possible. The backyard is not dirty and gets cleaned frequently, but there will be lots of leaves on the ground in Fall and early Winter - we do have many trees in the yards - most residents and guests see this as an advantage. That said, these were the most difficult guests we have had in 2017, with constant complaints and issues. It seemed to us, that they probably should not have come to Brooklyn and that their concerns were really with our location - not much we can do about that.

Cozy welcoming retreat on tree lined street.

First let me say I was very naieve about Brooklyn. The apartment itself had everything you could possibly need and the backyard with all of the outdoor seating under the pergola was heavenly. We had our coffee out there and sat out there at night enjoying the peace and quiet. The apartment is well built, older but charming and is private and quiet. Some of the beds were a wee bit firm but we all slept well after our long days in the city. It was a short walk to the subway and most of that area appeared fairly safe during the hours we were out. I will say though that we knew nothing about the surrounding neighborhoods and decided to walk to a pizza place our first night. The neighborhood that we walked to was not only unfriendly, it was menacing and threatening to 4 Caucasian women. We were stared at and yelled at. When we finally arrived to the pizza place, Tony’s which was awesome, they gladly called us a cab to get Home. As much as I enjoyed my stay I’m not sure I would do it again because of that. Also they had a parade the day we were leaving and the police presence was amazing! First sign of police in that area our entire stay and they were on every corner. A bit alarming. We were told we would be fine as long as we weren’t wandering the neighborhood.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. We are glad that you enjoyed the apartment and back garden - we put a lot of effort into making it a comfortable and relaxing place. I'm sorry that you didn't feel safe, you are the first guest to feel that way. We have lived in this house for 15 years, staring out with very young children, and have never had any safety issues whatsoever, day or night, alone or in groups. You stayed here during the West Indian Day Parade, which is the largest parade in NYC and just like all other parades, comes with a large police presence and people partying the night before. We are certain that it was and always is safe, but we understand that coming from the countryside, this may make some guests a little nervous. I wonder who told you to not wander the neighborhood, it is most certainly an amazing area here and worth exploring.
