North Star VRBO

Beautiful, spacious accomocations. Beautiful view of the ocean. The northern most part of the island but with a golf cart (which is easily rented and delivered to your VRBO), you can reach a grocery, restaurant, and bar. We rented a boat also which made seeing the whole area very fun and easy. Highly recommend!

ECP management was fabulous! Beautiful views of Sea of Abaco and Atlantic blue waters.

Get stay at Northstar

The location and property are amazing. Water out your back deck and views of the Atlantic from the front. The house is perfect for 2 couples or a small family. You definitely need a golf cart. Secure as soon as you book the house. You will also need to rent a gate card to open the gate at the center of town. This can be secured from the Town Council that is only opened M-F and closed on all holidays. If you arrive on the weeked, plan on staying on the North end. When landing at the airport, ask a taxi to take you to the grocery store before the ferry. Limit options on Elbow Cay and expensive. Can’t wait to come back and stay.

Northstar on Elbow Cay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented Northstar for 15 Days. Let's just say if you're looking for a rustic experience you'll be okay. Northstar is located on the north end of Elbow Cay about 2 miles from Hopetown. The road from Hopetown to Northstar is unpaved and very rough. Almost at the end of the road, it is a pretty remote location. Upon our arrival the house was very dusty/ sandy and obviously hadn't been cleaned in a while. After two hours of cleaning we were comfortable enough to unpack. The layout is good for two couples as the bedrooms are on opposite ends of the house with the living area in the middle. The kitchen was adequate but had only the bare necessities and the knives were very dull with no way to sharpen them. The charcoal grill was very small and the legs were rusted off so grilling outside was a challenge. The windows in the living area are straight out of a backwoods camp complete with holes in the screens and the windows in the bedrooms were of the louvered type which were old and hard to operate. The doors had inferior locks and overall the house was not very secure. The lighting in the house was poor, especially in the bathrooms, with old inferior lighting that was rusty and unsightly. The furniture overall was camp quality but did its purpose. If you're looking for a remote, backwoods camp style getaway you would be satisfied with Northstar. If you're looking for something a little more upscale, keep looking.

If you're looking for a cottage experience this house delivers with its large deck and amazing view of the Sea of Abaco. A golf cart rental is a necessity and a gate key if you want to access the south end of the Island where there are some great restaurants and bars.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Elbow Cay Properties is easily the best rental management company I've ever dealt with. They are extremely professional, laid back, and easy to work with. They take care of everything, including retrieving our luggage that arrived a day late, and delivering it to our house while we were out boating. You just don't have anything to worry about when you rent from them. North Star is a home we love. We've stayed there a couple of times. It may be too rustic and out of the way for some, but that's what we like about it. Everything worked well, it was stocked with everything we needed, and the new deck is amazing!

Only AC in bedrooms but that’s where it was most needed. Nice little beach with water access. We rented bikes to get to town and that provided some good daily exercise. We bought and left a blender enjoy!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: NorthStar was as pictured, a bedroom on each side of cottage, great view/views from windows, porch or sitting by the water. Each bedroom has AC and bedding comfortable,the living-dinning areas did not have AC. There is a stove, frig, all utensils for preparing a meal and a Weber charcoal grill in the yard area, however we (Couple) were on vacation and ate 99% of meals out n about. We had both bikes and a golf cart, one cannot take a golf cart from the North end to the South of the island. We did contact restaurants on the South side as they will pick you up in a specified area and bring you back, so we did not get to see all the South section of the island. Again, the North area is the town (3-streets) of Hope Town with the Malone museum, many restaurants, limited grocery, or gift store...Explore around go over to the lighthouse, snorkel, etc...All were with Smiles and a toast to Life as it finds you!

It was very much lacking in kitchen utensils and the furniture is outdated and Needing to be refreshed or replaced. Screens in Kitchen all had holes from rats.We did enjoy the house overall and would stay there again! Also would’ve been nice to know there was laundry facility on the property we found that out the last day.

Definitely needed a golf cart, bikes would have been ok too but the road is bumpy. Decor is tasteful and simple, house is well supplied. Minor negatives - There were a few holes in the screens and the bed was very soft, not so good on my back.

The two bedroom suites are large and well airconditioned. The kitchen and living area are truly open air - there are shutters that open out with rope. It was hot during the day, but we were never really there - too busy swimming and exploring. The views from the house are incredible, and if you walk a few steps around the entry, you're at the most stunning beach I've ever been to - with large coral reefs - amazing snorkeling spot. I've already recommended this place to friends and family. I hope to be back again! Service - the staff were very communicative over email - helping us arrange travel. Francois came and picked me up and dropped me off at the ferry. Thank you!!!!

Reviewer Comments: Cleanliness: Dirty upon arrival (nail clippings on floor, etc.) Window screens did not fit & had holes (spiders, mosquitoes, gnats, newts & giant roaches entered the house); Living room: chairs & sofas dirty & very uncomfortable (don't expect to return from beach & relax on this furniture); Kitchen: old stove (oven not working properly) no microwave, old/broken silverware & kitchen appliances; Electric: lost electric for 6 days (so no water/internet during outages) do not rent until owners invest in generator. Note: neighbor's generator sound & fumes get into the master BR; Location: remote at north end of island (must rent a cart to go out @ night; can rent bikes (better be in shape to ride the trail) but too dangerous trail to ride back to house when dark); View: great Proximity to sand beach: great
