Beautiful, four bedroom cottage right on the lake. Great swimming. Easy access.

Located in the Kawartha Highlands and right on beautiful McGinnis Lake, this family-friendly, four bedroom cottage has a great kitchen, comfortable beds, and spacious property including a gazebo, excellent swimming and boating, with a forest to explore. Includes use of two canoes, pedal boat, paddle board, a small kayak and lots of board games for evening fun. McGinnis Lake is part of a system of seven lakes so adventurers can also rent a boat at a nearby marina and explore. (Please note: There is more than one McGinnis Lake in Ontario. This is the one between Catchacoma and Beaver Lake in the Kawartha Highlands. A beautiful, clean, swimmable lake). Roomy dock and all day sun exposure adds to the fun. One part of this cottage is 'vintage-original,' with loads of charm and beauty (including a brand new, efficient wood stove for cooler evenings and mornings), leading into a newer section where gourmet meals can be prepared in a well-equipped kitchen, and additional sitting area provides lots of time to read, reflect and enjoy each other's company in front of a propane fireplace. There is one queen bed and three double bed (including a pull out couch in the living area), and three single beds (one set of bunk beds, and one upper bunk that is a single). Pine floors and walls, art, a deck with a table and chairs and bbq, and big sunny windows with southern exposure all add to the beauty of this Kawartha jewel. We love to share our space and welcome visitors to this special sanctuary. The cottage is an easy drive to Buckhorn, Peterborough, Haliburton or Bobcaygeon which makes day trips or grocery shopping simple (although, we don't think you will want to leave!). Local points of interest include Kawartha Country Wines, art galleries, the Trent Canal system, shopping and many restaurants and seasonal festivals. Two marinas on the same system of lakes rent boats and other water toys, and provide access to beer, wine, and a small selection of groceries.

Cozy Heritage Cottage

A cozy heritage cottage with beautiful views of the lake. Updated features included stove, washer, fridge, laundry and water filtration system. Pantry was stocked with basic items (sugar, S&P, oil) and kitchen had a good inventory of cookware, cutlery and knives.Wifi was strong and responsive with good coverage throughout.Great swimming directly off the dock with some sandy shoreline spots.Plenty of space for up to 7 people. Great host that communicated with us to help with arrival.

The very best part of this cottage is the waterfront. If you have kids who want to spend time in the lake it’s perfect for swimming with clear water and enough depth at the end of the dock for deep dives. There’s plenty of scope to kayak canoe or paddleboard. Everything else was fantastic as well. The kids and I would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful place

Cozy, true canadian cottage with ample space for a group. Be aware though that 2 of the bedrooms are *not* private. While there is what is essentially a divider, its not a full wall to the hall or the other room. So if you need quiet and youre next to someone who snores, its gunna be a rough tjme.

Beautiful spot with lots to do

Lovely cottage on a quiet bay with everything we needed to have a nice relaxing week long holiday. Lake was very warm. Did the canopy tour in Haliburton just a short drive away. Beds were comfy, lots of room for the four of us to spread out when we needed to work. Internet connection was good for zoom if you are doing a wfh stint. Kitchen was stocked with essentials. Karen, the host, was very kind and responsive.

Annual cottage trip with Friends

Nestled in the serene expanse of Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, our recent stay at this charming cottage was a delightful escape from the everyday. The location was perfect, offering both tranquility and easy access to stunning natural beauty. The cottage itself was well-appointed, combining rustic charm with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. We especially enjoyed the cozy fireplace and the spacious deck overlooking the picturesque landscape. The surrounding area was ideal for outdoor activities, from hiking to kayaking. The host was attentive and provided excellent recommendations for local attractions. Overall, it was a rejuvenating getaway that we highly recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in nature.

Great Weekend Cottage Getaway

We went for a cottage weekend with my small family of 3 and some friends. There was lots of room for all 10 of us. It was the perfect cottage for our party. The space is beautiful, with lots to do not only for all of the adults, but for my 2 and a half year old as well. Use of the canoes, kayak, and paddle board was a big highlight for us. Communication with the host was great as well. Would definitely rent again.

We've always enjoyed welcoming others to enjoy a spot right on a beautiful lake, surrounded by tall trees, listening to the cries of loons and enjoying time together on deck or dock. Our family has many memories here and we hope that people who choose to rent will create their own special memories.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Our cottage is a blend of "classic cottage Canadiana" with a more recent addition that includes big windows, great light, a good kitchen and lots of space to visit, relax, play games or enjoy dinner together on a harvest table made by my father. Good things happen here. We hope you will love it as much as we do.
