Guest Access:
Guests have full, private use of the cottage and deck during their stay. The space is fully self-contained and designed for comfort and simplicity, everything you need is here to make yourself at home.
Check-in is from 2:00 pm, and check-out is by 10:30 am. Early check-in or late check-out may be available for an additional fee; we’ll confirm closer to your stay. Please note that if there’s a same-day guest changeover, these can’t be offered.
There’s dedicated parking for one car beside the cottage, and a short shared driveway with the main residence where the owners live.
The Neighborhood:
Set between Enclosure Bay and Sandy Bay, Jackson’s Hideaway sits in a calm, green pocket of the island that feels close to everything but quietly removed. A short five- to ten-minute walk brings you to the water, Enclosure Bay with its clear shallows and rock pools, or Sandy Bay with its soft sand and sheltered swimming. Both are beautiful spots for a morning dip or a slow afternoon in the sun.
From here, you’re only a short drive to Oneroa Village, where you’ll find coffee at Wai Kitchen, boutique shops, and small island galleries. Stop by The Island Grocer for local cheeses, fresh bread, and wine before heading back to your deck for an easy dinner in.
If you’re exploring the vineyards, Casita Miro is one not to miss, a hillside gem with mosaic terraces, Mediterranean plates made for sharing, and glasses of sherry or Syrah enjoyed in the sun. Nearby, Mudbrick, Cable Bay, and Tantalus Estate are perfect for long lunches with sweeping views, while Stonyridge offers a more relaxed afternoon among the vines.
For something a little more casual, stop in at The Heke Kitchen, Brewery & Distillery, a local favourite for its wood-fired food, craft beers, and small-batch gin. On sunny days the garden hums with music and chatter, and on Friday afternoons you’ll often find a DJ playing as the sun drops behind the hills.
Getting Around:
Getting around from Jackson’s Hideaway is easy and relaxed. There’s off-street parking beside the cottage if you’re bringing a car, and from here it’s just a few minutes’ drive to Oneroa Village, the Matiatia ferry terminal, and the island’s main vineyard trail.
If you’d rather explore without driving, the nearest bus stop is within walking distance. Hop on the bus with other holiday-makers heading to the beaches and vineyards, it’s an easy, social way to see the island. Most of the big wineries, including Tantalus Estate, Stonyridge, Casita Miro, and Wild on Waiheke, have stops right outside, so you can hop on and off between tastings or beach swims.
Taxis and rideshares are also available across the island, though they can be expensive, especially in the evenings or on busy weekends. For something slower, hire an e-bike or scooter in Oneroa and follow the coastal roads at your own pace.
However you choose to travel, everything on Waiheke is close, beaches, vineyards, and home again by sunset.
Other Things to Note:
Please note: Jackson's Hideaway is not suitable for children
Jackson’s Hideaway shares a driveway with the main residence, where the friendly owners live. The cottage has dedicated parking for one car beside the entrance and full privacy once inside.
Like most Waiheke homes, the property runs on rainwater, so we ask guests to use it thoughtfully during their stay.
Minimum stay requirements apply, seven nights from mid-December to mid-January, three nights on holiday weekends, and two nights at all other times.
Interaction with Guests:
Our Stay Waiheke team is available seven days a week from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with after-hours support for anything urgent. Once you’ve checked in, the cottage is yours to enjoy, private, peaceful, and set up for an easy, comfortable stay.
