Comfortable apartment in Martinez, California

Apartment was comfortable and the beds were also very comfortable. The only recommendation would be to have laundry soap and dishwasher pods available as we had to use shampoo to wash our clothes. My friend Mary Beth bought salt and pepper and donated it to the apartment for future guests to use. We were unable to turn on the air conditioning or fan, thus we had to keep the windows open all night as the outside temp was 102 degrees when we arrived and the apartment was quite stifling. It would be nice if the owner would provide a floor fan for future guests to use to help circulate the air. Fortunately, the temps cooled down at night and we were able to sleep keeping the windows open. A fan would be nice as well as a floor lamp in the living room instead of the hot overhead can lights that we had to use. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.

There is HVAC in the apartment. The co troller is on the wall in the hallway.

Disliked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy
Unsafe, dirty, and nothing like the listing. We left and got a hotel. Do yourself a favor and book another property.We booked this place for 5 nights (Aug 6-11) for our family with young kids. We made it about 10 mins and left. We left and paid for a hotel out of our own pocket because we did not feel safe sleeping there.What the listing doesn't tell you: this is basically an unfinished basement. It was dirty when we arrived, there are exposed wires laying out, and the space looks nothing like the photos. Imagine a dirty, smelly basement that has low ceilings...it is actually just some dudes basement on the corner of a busy road.The dealbreaker was the door. The door to our unit only locks from one side, and it's not our side. We had no way to secure the space while we slept, with our kids in there. When we raised it, the host told VRBO the door "locks from both sides." That is not true. I have photos of all of it, and VRBO's own resolutions team reviewed them and acknowledged the issues were serious.We asked for a refund since the property wasn't as described and we couldn't safely stay in it. The host refused. So we ended up paying for a rental we couldn't use plus a hotel on top of it. The owner truly doesn't care about you.If you're traveling with kids, or you just want to sleep behind a door that locks, book somewhere else. People deserve to know what they're actually walking into here.Im sure the owner will refute the claims but they are all true!

This party was rude and unnecessarily petulant. I have never had a customer fabricate complaints in the almost 10 year history I have been in this business. These people were the most unreasonable person I have ever interacted with. He claims it was dirty based on a picture of a doorjam. Does that sound believable? He also claims there were “wires” everywhere. There was one USB wire left behind by another customer that was overlooked. I feel sorry for them because their standards are unreasonable and the wife’s attitude is unbearable.
