Skip the crowds and traffic of Bar Harbor and welcome to the Quietside of MDI. Our home sits on an open acre of land overlooking Duck Cove. You are minutes from the restaurants and shops of Bass Harbor and Southwest Harbor and the less-crowded areas of Acadia National Park.

This is really a wonderful place to stay. It's so comfortable and really a quiet place to stay. It has everything you need while you stay there. The owner was so pleasant to work with. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a nice quite place to stay.
Perfect spot for a family vacation! Home has everything you could want: plenty of space, great yard, good location if you are looking to be away from crowds at Bar Harbor but close enough to visit anything in the park. Our last night was spent sitting around the fire pit and gazing at all the stars.
Beautiful property with amazing views. We loved so many things: the house was very cute, basically on the water (hop, skip & a jump), stargazing, screened in porch, rocking chairs, the swings. The house has everything you need on the beautiful MDI.
We took our first trip to Boston and ventured into Maine. We decided to stay on the opposite side of the peninsula from Bar Harbor and were delighted with our choice. This VRBO was charming. It felt like a big hug upon arrival. It was in a great location to drive all over the peninsula. We drove to Bar Harbor one day and Acadia National Park another. The VRBO was a great place to land after a fun-filled day. Great restaurants nearby in Southwest Harbor. I highly recommend this place!
This house was so nice! Clean, well-stocked kitchen, really comfortable beds in all the bedrooms. We had a wonderful time sitting on the decks and enjoying the quiet of Maine.
Our vacation was too short!
Our family of four plus dog enjoyed this gorgeous home as a base while we explored Acadia. The house itself is beautiful, clean and nicely set up for relaxing and eating together. We spent many nights eating out on the large deck and using the fire pit under the stars and many mornings sipping coffee on the porch. The owners have thought of every detail to make your stay enjoyable including the most comfy beds and linens and a well stocked kitchen. We were especially thankful for the AC and fans, which made the house comfortable even in an unexpected heatwave! For us, the location could not have been better - easy drive to the park and Bar Harbor, plus shopping and restaurants nearby. We hope to be back!
Loved the remote location overlooking a pond. Wonderful wrap around porch and deck. Fire pit and corn hole on the lawn. Comfortable house. Owner very responsive. Coffee maker was broken and he immediately had it replaced. Had a great stay on the “quiet side” of the island.
This was truly a home away from home. It had EVERYTHING we could have wanted and needed. The property was beautiful. We enjoyed walking the cove each day at low tide. Stars were beautiful at night. The blackout shades upstairs were a very nice touch! All beds were comfortable and appliances were all new and up to date. We very begrudgingly checked out when it was time to leave…it was paradise.
This is a great property on the quiet side of MDI. It's a short walk to the water and a short drive to anywhere on the island that you want to visit. Since it's outside of town it's very quiet and there's very little traffic that passes the house. Our kids loved the porch swings and were so impressed with the spiral staircase.
The home was well stocked with coffee making supplies, games, books, cookware, bedding and towels. The beds and couch were very comfortable and we spent evenings there playing games and reading in the living room.
John was very helpful with check-in and giving us information about good local spots to see and to eat. I wouldn't think twice about staying here again, it was a wonderful experience from check in to check-out.
We stayed at the house for a month while we worked remotely and the kids went to camp. The house is very livable for a longer term stay. It has everything you need in all aspects! The beds are super comfortable, but the couch is just ok. The kitchen is really well stocked, and the house also has a ton of "extras" that fill in all the little gaps o
to meet your creature comforts. The temperature control was very reliable. The screened in porch was also a great feature!
The neighborhood is really quiet and has a nice long street for dog walking or running. The yard is very big and the kids had fun playing outside, especially on the porch swings! The proximity to the cove makes for a really peaceful stay, especially with the fog that rolls in and out with the tide. During low tide, the kids enjoyed looking for sea glass down at the cove. The house was a little far from Bar Harbor and NE Harbor, but very close to SW Harbor and certain parts of Acadia (within 10 minutes). The drive around the island was easy, and we appreciated the quietness of the area as a small compromise to the farther location.
The host was excellent. John was super responsive, usually replying to texts within minutes. He had very helpful recommendations and was very kind. He made the stay extra comfortable and enjoyable!
We would definitely stay here again on a future trip and highly recommend both the house and the host!!
We enjoyed staying at John & Sara’s beautiful antique farmhouse in quiet Tremont. The house & grounds were lovely & peaceful. The easy access to the cove provided cool ocean breezes & lots of fun swimming & exploring. A perfect place to rest & recharge after a day exploring Acadia, Bar Harbor, or any of the other beautiful seaside towns of MDI. We loved it!
What a special and perfect home this is. We absolutely loved our stay. Everything about the house was so comfortable and perfect for our family. The kitchen and outdoor grill allowed us to cook as much as we wanted (when not at Hodgdkins). The enclosed porch was a great way to still be outside when the bugs were bad at dusk and dawn. Beds were comfortable, pillows were great.... It unfortunately took us a couple of hot nights to realize there actually were fans (we are old school and had in our heads that we were looking for box fans). The only suggestion we can think of would be an outdoor hose so we could wash down bikes and kayaks. We were so glad we picked the "quiet side" and the location of the house was amazing. We will most definitely be back. Thank you Sara and John for such a lovely stay (right down to the local gifts and special note in the upstairs bedroom). We loved it all.
My family had a wonderful stay. The house was super clean, well stocked, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. The area was quiet and we loved walking down to the cove. John was helpful and quick to respond to questions. Hope we can return soon.
Very nice property on the Quiet Side of Bar Harbor
We rented this home for our family reunion. 6 adults. The space was very nice. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The bedrooms were spacious and the towels were soft and fluffy. It was very comfortable for all of us.
We selected this property for the lovely lawn and fire pit. The lawn had a large flat area so we brought our croquet set and bocce set. We were not disappointed. The lawn area was great, the weather cooperated and we played lots of lawn games. Stargazing was nice too... until the moon came up. The moon was full during our stay so the stars dimmed once the moon rose. I can only imagine the views of the starfield when the moon isn't full. All in all, we had a great time. Thanks John and Sara.
