Stylish Cottage Retreat by the Sea 2 in Charming Carpinteria

This charming and stylish, beautifully refurbished 1920's beach cottage is 2 blocks from Carpinteria State Beach, 1 block from Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Reserve, and a few blocks from the heart of town. Included bikes, beach wagon, beach chairs, boogie board and cooler all make a fun-filled day at the beach effortless. Rinse off the day in our hot water, outdoor shower when you return.

We were honored to have our cottages (#336069 & #248884) chosen to fill the 'Little Gem' category of Carpinteria Beautiful's annual Home and Garden Tour in April 2012. They were also featured in Carpinteria Magazine's winter 2010 edition.

The cottage features tasteful furnishings and decor, refinished hardwood floors throught out, central heat, ceiling fans in the bedrooms, and all the comforts of home. Beautiful, original paintings by local artists adorn the walls. There is a bedroom with a queen bed and another with a bunk bed with a twin on top and a full bed on the bottom. A lovely patio in the yard with an outdoor dining table is the perfect spot for a sunset dinner. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There is a fully upgraded kitchen with stone countertops and new appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave and ice maker. You will also find a washer and dryer for your convenience. We offer a library of DVD's, Apple TV, and wireless internet. Games and books are in the cupboard for mellow days around the house.

The surrounding neighborhood is very peaceful and the neighbors are friendly. There are several antique shops and wonderful restaurants within walking distance, as well as nature trails and bird watching one block away. Or, hop on the bikes and head to town! Thursday afternoons offer a fresh Farmers Market. The town of Santa Barbara is a short drive and hosts a zoo, museums, shopping, golf, art events, botanical gardens, the Queen of the Missions, wine tasting and more! Stop in Summerland for great antiquing, then glamorous, celebrity-filled Montectio along the way.

The two adjacent cottages are the perfect place for two families to meet up. The cottages are comfortable, beachy, and welcoming! The landscaping and outdoor spaces are beautifully landscaped. We will definitely want to stay again!

Incredible bungalow

My tween and I stayed here for the week and had a blast! The easy walk to the beach and downtown was perfect! My daughter loved the tide pools and bodyboarding; I loved the gorgeous calming house and sense of peace.Highly recommend and we will be back!

This home was absolutely beautiful. So many personal touches that made our stay very enjoyable. The beds are great and the decor was perfect. It’s very newly renovated and is absolutely gorgeous. Even the outside was immaculate. We left there wanting to buy it and plan weekend getaways there. lol.

Ideal Getaway

Our stay was so peaceful and pleasant at this cozy beach house. Everything was as expected and made it so easy to relax and enjoy the area. We loved the easy walking for coffee shops, restaurants and exercise. The host was super responsive when we asked about recommendations. In the cottage was a large binder that offered so many helpful hints and ideas to make the most of the area. We really loved everything about our stay.

Perfect Beach Cottage

It was absolutely perfect! Great location. Everything we needed was in the cottage. So well decorated - like walking into a Serena and Lily catalog. Check - in and out was easy and Kat was very helpful with questions I had before arrival. I hope to be able to come back to this cottage again. I highly recommend it!

Perfect Location

This property is the perfect location in Carp. Walking distance to the train station, restaurants/shops, and beach. It’s a great spot if you are booking with another family, because the other property is adjacent and makes it easy for kids and families to hang out. The host even gave us early/late check in/out. My only suggestion would to please have shampoo and conditioner available. We will definitely book again.

Perfect Girls Getaway!

We just returned from a great girls trip to Carpinteria, One of the best parts of our trip was staying at Kat's cottage. It's decorated adorable and was spotless. The pictures are exactly as it truly is and I would recommend any of my friends or family to rent this property. We spent one morning walking to the Coffee Bean and getting our nails done. We then walked to the beach. Everything is truly walkable. Thank you Kat for helping to make our girls trip even better!

The cottage is updated 1920s vintage and both the home and yard are super charming. Great location for walking everywhere and perfect chill vibe. Central to the beach and eateries. Not huge and not for a rowdy crowd but perfect for our grown family of 5 to chill together since kids are fine with bunking together. Bring your own coffee and creamer if you like it asap in the morning. Coffee makers provided. Kat was very responsive and accommodating. We had an excellent time. Definitely would stay again.

California in September

The place was generally clean, however spiders were abundant. The biggest problem was that there was a lot of street construction during the weekdays that started early in the morning with noise, dust and no privacy. The construction was ongoing on the streets surrounding the front and the side of the house which was at street level. We did not know about the construction otherwise we would not have booked, this fact should have been shared with us. We wanted to sleep in but we could not and the noise of construction trucks and equipment continued until the early afternoon, this very important fact was likely intentionally omitted and this was not right, this deprived us of ability to find a better place where we could have rested and enjoyed our vacation.

Adorable beach cottage was perfect for us

Four of us long time friends gathered from across the state and from Colorado to share time together at Kat's little beach cottage. Everything about the place was perfect (although we could have used another blanket or two since the weather had turned cooler that week). Let me count the ways - very attractive, outside and inside, comfortable beds, spacious and comfortable seating in the living room for four people, lovely fireplace lit with multiple candles, great kitchen and dining area, outside seating was a great option, easy stroll to the beach, quiet street with parking, plenty of towels and glassware etc, cleaning supplies provided for removing the inevitable tar from our feet after a beach walk, and an easy walk into town for shops and groceries. We are all familiar and love Carp and the surrounding area and loved basing out of this adorable cottage. We four women even managed to do fine with just one bathroom! We shared hours of conversation, tears and laughter. We hired a masseuse to come in and give us massages - Marla was fantastic. Thanks for the tip, Kat. We are enjoying our memories of a very special time in your lovely cottage. Oh, and the train stop is just a few blocks away.

Lovely home away from home

This is the second time we have rented this process and it won't be the last. Such a beautiful getaway. Close to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Well stocked kitchen. So many wonderful touches. Just a beautiful home.

Our family bought 2 neglected, unloved cottages on one lot 1 1/2 blocks from the beach. We expertly and extensively refurbished them throughout, upgrading EVERYTHING and making them very livable and lovely. We love to share them with people that will appreciate the quality and care we put into our charming cottages. (SEE VRBO 248884 for the other cottage).

Why they chose this property

Being in Carpinteria is like stepping back in time. It's a classic Southern California beach town that has retained is relaxed and easy charm. Life is mellow in Carp. The beach is amazing and there are many good restaurants nearby. We live in nearby Santa Barbara.

What makes this property unique

We love to spend the day at the beach, walk home for a nap, then clean up and walk into town for a cocktail at Sly's or a yummy dinner at Corktree Cellars. Watching the kids swim to the platforms and splash around with all of the other kids always puts a smile on my face. Morning bird watching at the Salt Marsh is the perfect way to start the day.
