Welcome to "The Postgraduate". Enjoy the modern amenities of this newly renovated 1940s home. Enter this 1800 sq foot private unit through your private entrance. You and your guests will have exclusive use of the home situated on the second and third floors of the house. Located in the beautiful and historic College Heights neighborhood, you'll be one block off campus. You're just a 5-20 minute walk to everything Penn State and Downtown State College. The large bedrooms are beautifully appointed with queen beds and comfortable bedding. The large living room features a couch and seating for 8+ to enjoy the 55" Wi-Fi HDTV. Cook your meals in the full, appliance and cookware stocked, kitchen or get takeout and enjoy at the dining table with chair and bench seating. The third-floor bedroom is a wonderful private space with full and twin beds as well as a desk. The shared outdoor space features a flagstone patio with a fire pit. Each bedroom features all the conveniences you've come to expect in the modern world of travel like charging ports, full-size closets for your use, and plenty of space for your luggage and personal items. The full bath has a full-size tub/shower and sink. Reserved parking for 3 cars on the property included. Whether it's graduation, game weekend, or you're just visiting, this home will make your stay much more enjoyable, convenient, and relaxing than most any other offering in town. STR24-00018

Frank and Cher are originally from Illinois. We both attended the University of Illinois and have always been supporters and fans of the BIG 10. Both our children are recent graduates of Penn State. We fell in love with the community and neighborhood of State College and PSU the first time we set foot here many years ago. Through our VRBO offering, we want you and your guests to feel the same level of home and community we have always felt in Happy Valley.
Why they chose this property
The historic charm and story of College Heights is a rare find on college campuses today. Most surrounding homes in our neighborhood are between 100 and 75 years old and have been preserved and restored over the years. This is a neighborhood of professors, workers, students and families that make Penn State and State College function as a community.
What makes this property unique
The "Post Graduate" is a rare property that allows guests to walk anywhere on PSU Campus and to downtown State College. Built in the 1940's this property was originally home to a PSU Professor and their family. They rented the 2nd floor to Penn State graduate students while they lived on the first floor. This family's vision of the college community is why the home was built as 2 homes (completely separate living units) within one house. Over the years, the homes have been occupied by PSU students and other local families. The attraction of walking to class and work has always been a primary draw to the homes' residents. Today, after a major update and renovation in 2024, the 1800 sq ft upstairs unit is offered to you as a short-term rental. The name "Post Graduate" pays tribute to the original function and intention of the space by the family who built the home in 1944.
