About the host
Hosted by Betsy Scott

My husband and I, four grown children and eight grands all love the Sail Loft. It is so much fun to be together there, and it has deep roots in our family. My great, great grandfather in the mid 19th Century built the Sail Loft and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. He was a ship builder and the property has come down through the generations. I have owned the property for many years and have remodeled the whole house, added many windows, and planted lovely gardens, trees and bushes. We live in New York City where our busy lives keep us from spending more time in Maine, but we all treasure the time we do have at the Sail Loft.
Why they chose this property
The Sail Loft has been a part of my life and of all my family's for over one hundred and fifty years. It has had great love lavished on it, and we continue to take very good care of it. We have a wonderful person Astrid and her husband Dick who take care of our Sail Loft for us as though it was their own. When we or any of our guests arrive, you will find Astrid's fresh and lovely flower arrangements adorning the house, flowers that she has just picked from our beautiful garden.
What makes this property unique
When I arrive in Maine after long and busy months in New York City, I am enthralled all over again by the fresh sea air, the stunning beauty of the Harbor from our deck and the loveliness of the Sail Loft. No one is on top of one another in the spacious house and I have plenty of room to do my painting or entertaining. The house is so inviting with all high quality linens and very comfortable beds. I love to go right out to the local farmer's market and buy fresh off the farm produce, breads, cheeses. The children always run right down to the rocks. My husband sits in the big easy chair to read his paper and look at the water. Everyone is happy at the Sail Loft.
