This beautifully appointed, fully self-contained hut features a luxurious queen bed, cosy sofa, a well-equipped kitchen, and a stylish bathroom with a shower, vanity, and flushing cartridge toilet. There is an easy to use wireless projector if you want to watch a movie.
Step out onto your private deck to enjoy the Weber BBQ, a fire pit for stargazing evenings, and a romantic outdoor claw foot bath with a privacy screen—perfect for soaking while taking in the stunning views.
The setting is truly special—overlooking paddocks where sheep and fallow deer graze, just a short stroll to the shores of Lake Tarawera at Stoney Point. Guests are welcome to use our kayaks or Canadian canoe to explore the lake, and breakfast packs or platters can be ordered to make your stay even more relaxing.
With so much to see and do nearby—discover the Buried Village, enjoy trout fishing, walk to Tarawera Falls or hike the scenic Tarawera Trail. The sparkling Blue Lake and towering Redwoods Forest are just a short drive away, as is horse trekking at Lake Okareka and world-class mountain biking. My husband and I are privileged to live here at beautiful Lake Tarawera. We want to share this exquisite piece of New Zealand with you, our guests. Shepherds Legacy Hut is a modern version of a traditional english shepherds hut but with all the upto date amenities providing character and comfort.

If you decide to come and stay we're sure you will love this special and truly romantic hideaway. Tranquility, breathtaking scenery and beautiful birdsong.
What makes this property unique
There is so much to see and do in this area. Horse riding at Okareka, kayaking on the lake, fishing for rainbow trout, the water taxi service to the hot pools across the lake, numerous walking tracks and close to world renowned mountain bike trails and the famous redwoods.
