This place was perfect in every way. It was immaculate, comfortable, quiet, very adequate and a great location for exploring in Acadia National Park and the whole area. The kitchen was so nice and the grill worked perfectly. The 2 bathrooms were a plus.
My wife and I stayed for almost a week and loved everything about the house and location. The house was very clean, cozy, and had great views of Bass Harbor. Easy to get out and explore Southwest Harbor and Acadia National Park. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!
We loved this place! The house is in a beautiful spot right on the harbor. It was fun to watch the tide come in and out. It is a very clean and well appointed house with comfortable beds and it had everything we needed. We enjoyed staying on the “quiet” side of Mt. Desert Island. This is our favorite vacation rental we’ve ever stayed in

Thanks for the great review Matthew! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and honored to be considered as your favorite! I hope we're able to host you again someday!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The views are wonderful and the house was clean and had everything we needed. Excellent proximity to the lighthouse and Seawall where I photographed the sunrise, sunset, and Milky Way. Can’t beat rolling out of bed and driving only 5 minutes to these southern points. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!

Thanks for the great review Robin. It's true! The quiet side of the island is filled with gorgeous places, many of which aren't as crowded as those closer to downtown Bar Harbor. The Bass Harbor lighthouse is the BEST place on the island to catch the sunset! I'm so glad to hear you captured such memorable photographs! - Amber
This place did not disappoint!! When we arrived, we were in awe of the beautiful views!! We were right on the water and enjoyed watching the tide change each day. The house was adorable and we truly loved everything about it! It is very well- maintained and we felt so relaxed and at home. We loved the location as well! Away from the crowds but super close to restaurants and other points of interest. We would Definitely stay again!
We had a great time and the house was as advertised. The only negatives were the weather that had some showers but the owner can't control the weather. Nice views of the harbor and we enjoyed seeing the tides fill the "pond" and then draining it. It is very near some nice places to walk and see the Maine Coast. We had a very fine stay.

Thanks for the review Peter! It is such a bummer when you're in an outdoor destination and the weather is poor. For our future guests who are caught in the rain, I love to get out on the trails when it's a bit drizzly - I basically have the whole park to myself! Another great rainy day activity is to take a Paddle Board trip with Acadia SUP located in downtown Bar Harbor. In the summer, it's often warm enough even in the rain, and on the paddle boards you can get in and out of the lake and really enjoy being wet! For indoor activities I recommend the Seal Cove Auto Museum, the Abbe Museum, the Bar Harbor Historical Society, the George Dorr Museum of Natural History, the Sieur de Monte Nature Center, or the Great Harbor Maritime Museum. - Amber
Our family of six stayed at this house as we were there to hike Acadia national Park. The house is spotless, and a very accessible area, and had outdoor space to play spike ball in cornhole and ride bikes. We did the nature tour right in our harbor, went to Thurston’s the yellow building right across the harbor and visited the boat museum. Our only suggestion would be furniture upstairs that you can sit on to hang out that is a little bit more comfortable than two chairs. The teens wanted their own space to hangout together. The neighbors were fantastic and even let our kids hold their parrot, Uno. We would 100% book again..
Very clean property, better sized for 4 people or families with smaller children. Water access quite difficult. Owner was easy to access, right along bus route for great access around the entire island. Quiet part of the island which was very nice.
Beautiful views from almost anywhere in the home! Very clean and owners are extremely professional and timely to respond. Easy to a cess to Bar Harbor and Acadia.
Very nice little house right on the water. We thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the lobster boats come and go. The house had all the necessities and was a very nice "home base" during our trip. The bbeds were all very firm but easily remedied with a few foam mattress toppers. We will return again!
As always another perfect get a way! We so love staying here! Looking out the window on Bass Harbor and watching the ever changing tides is so relaxing and beautiful! It’s such a beautiful home and provides us with everything we need! There is simply nothing like staying in Bass Harbor( the quiet side of the Island). Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home!
We spent a week at Seaside Rose last week of July. Weather was perfect! It was a great location for our family to have activities near by (Island Cruises, National Park kayak rentals, hikes, restaurants) and downtime fun at the house (exploring at low tide and floating around at high tide). It’s 30 minutes to get to most spots in Acadia, but it was worth having a variety of options to explore for the week without the crowding of Bar Harbor. We went to the park several days, used the free bus option from the visitor center to avoid parking issues.
The house was clean, had great views of the sunset and was perfect for our family of 4 (kids had whole upstairs)

Quiet, beautiful and peaceful!
We loved our stay in Bass Harbor, the "quiet side" of Acadia National Park. The house has a wonderful view of the harbor and the sunsets from the deck are lovely! The photos online do not do the house justice. The house is much better, with the entire living and dining room windows facing Bass Harbor. The house has nice decor and a fully stocked kitchen and laundry room. Good location to SW Harbor and just down the street from the lighthouse. If you're into hiking, don't miss hiking up to the fire tower at the summit of Beech Mountain. Incredible views of the Cranberry Islands, Bartlett Island and Long Pond. Picturesque picnic spots at the Seawall, just about 5 minutes from the house. These accommodations and Acadia National Park highly recommended!
This home was very cute in the quiet area on Bass Harbor. We did several Acadia hikes, went to Bar Harbor took the ferry to Swan’s Island and road ebikes and went to Cadillac Mt. We were pretty active and even enjoyed the rainy days. Communication and check in was easy. Local restaurants are very quaint with good food. The downside is the overall comfort. The master bed caused back pain for my husband and I. He slept on the sofa. You can feel the springs when you lay down. The decorative chairs in the LR feel like boards. The view is great with seating arranged around windows, but relaxing at the end of a long hike did not happen. We had our 3 sons 15+ with us and we could not all be in the living room in comfort. We often separated and and all went to different rooms to lay down. We tried to keep busy and only sleep and make meals in the house. The sofa is very comfortable, but not big enough for 5. I did appreciate the views out the windows and the well stocked kitchen/bathroom. Overall, if there were some comfort changes, I would consider staying again. If you have any type of back or neck issues, it could be an issue for you. I am currently home and icing my back.

This property was AMAZING! First, let me say kudos for the perfect communication. We had all we needed to find the property (excellent directions) and gain entry and enjoy our stay. The property was MORE than expected regarding location and amenities! We fell in LOVE the "quiet" side of the island and being able to see the bay. Sleeping with windows open and smelling the salt air and hearing the bay sounds were wonderful The décor was so homey and beautiful and made Seaside Rose perfect. I took some ideas back for my own home But truly, what amazed me more than anything was the cleanliness of the home. I have stayed in lots of accommodation's through the years in my travels, and am always a bit leery and prepared to clean if needed upon arrival. But Seaside Rose was spotless! Please pass on to your crew how impressed I was with their diligence, you could tell they took pride in their work! I would LOVE if they lived closer as they would be a blessing to have in our area! I have never felt more at home, and at ease than at Seaside Rose. I traveled with my mother, and knowing that we both were comfortable in the space (first floor accommodations were perfect for her) set my mind at ease and allowed us to be excited to come "home" each evening. THANK YOU for the perfect stay in sweet Bass Harbor, Maine. If we are every blessed to go back to the area- Seaside Rose would be my top choice!
This cottage was the perfect location from which to explore MDI. It was quiet and away from all the Bar Harbor traffic, yet close enough to restaurants and all the tourist sites. The view of Bass Harbor from the cottage was nothing short of amazing! The cottage was comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. We cooked some meals there and found everything we needed. There was even a lobster pot, though we could have used some shell crackers. We were there in soft-shell season and made do without them.
The Ketch restaurant is in walking distance and was quite good. Their menu is in the handy binder at the cottage that contains all sorts of info about the area. Other good restaurants were a short drive away. We enjoyed lots of good hikes on MDI and over at Schoodic Penninsula. There is a good sunset viewing area up the street between the cottage and the Ketch Restaurant.
We enjoyed a nice Acadia vacation, though it was more crowded than we expected for September on the east side of the island, though the west (quiet) side was fine. This cottage exceeded our expectations and we would happily stay here again. It was one of the best rentals we've stayed in.
Loved, Loved, LOVED this property. Comfortable and clean accomodations, beautiful sunsets, room for the family to spread out, and away from the bustle of Bar Harbor. Will definitely return.
We had a positive experience. The house was as advertised.

A message from the owners - Having lived on Mount Desert Island most of our lives, we can say that it is sometimes easy to take for granted all that we have here. But when we begin to describe all that the Island has to offer a visitor we remember just how lucky we are to live here. The mountains, the sea, the woods, lakes, and the people make this one of the most unique and enjoyable places we have ever known. We hope you will take full advantage of what Mount Desert Island has to offer your visit
