Incredible experience and stay. Didn’t make it clear until day of that the pool was meant to be shared with neighbors.

This was our second time to stay here and we plan on returning. It’s a beautiful property! If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with a fantastic view, this is it. The nights were cool enough to sleep with the screened windows open. The bed is super comfortable with cozy bedding. We were to see the Milky Way after the moon set. The host responded quickly to our needs.

This is a special spot - a lush setting on the mountain, on a well love and cared for property with special touches, like the grounds, hot tub, and sauna. The dwelling was thoughtfully appointed, with a kitchen you can actually cook in, fresh citrus fruit on the table to welcome. Hope to be back.

My cousin and I stayed here during a really rough Spring storm, and while it could have been a complete disaster, Dawn and Dave made us feel completely safe and at home. Even when we lost power, Dave hooked us up with some generator power for our TV and wifi. They're gracious and kind hosts— and the Makawao area is just the cutest place to explore.

We had a wonderful time in David and Dawn’s mountain sanctuary. We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The kitchen was well appointed and spacious, super comfy bed, lovely gardens and pool/hot tub, plus the incredible views made this a memorable experience. Hosts were super helpful and available when needed but gave us lots of space. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay in Maui. It gives you more of a feeling of life there vs an overly touristy resort.

Our stay here was everything and more. We chose it as the final stop on our Maui trip, and it was the perfect way to end—so much so that we’ll absolutely be returning. The space is incredibly tranquil. We found ourselves staying on the property more than going out, simply because it was so peaceful and inviting. My wife especially loved the bird watching—the couch placement was perfect for her to relax and take it all in for hours. The gardens are lush and beautifully maintained, and we really appreciated that some of the plants were marked. It added a thoughtful, personal touch to the experience. I could go on and on, but the reviews truly speak for themselves. This place alone would be reason enough to come back.

This is a unique and beautiful property with outstanding views from both decks. It is distinctive because of its secluded, off-the-beaten track location and upcountry elevation. The private pool and hot tub access are fabulous amenities. This is our second stay here and we are determined to return!

This place was so nice we had to come back and stay again as soon as possible! A true gem of a stay on Maui. The location and views are stunning. The accommodations are private and easy to access. We loved the pool and sauna, especially at night.! This place was a real treat to stay at and provided some beautiful memories to keep. Would love to do it all again.

Clear instructions, timely and friendly responses, and great recommendations! The home was spotless, with an amazing view — perfect for anyone who wants to center their trip around nature. Being much closer to Haleakalā National Park than the resort areas made our sunrise trip easy and stress-free. A generous and accommodating host. Highly recommend!

Perfect way to end our honeymoon

This property is absolutely breathtaking, I’m sure I took atleast 50 pictures or the view from the bedroom alone. The hosts were extremely kind and welcoming and were quick to answer with any questions we had. This was our last stop on our elopement/honeymoon in Maui and it was the perfect relaxing and quiet end to it. We would love to come back again someday soon.

Relax and Recharge in Makawao

This was our second time staying at David's place. We returned because it is a perfect little getaway for us, close to home but feels like such a treat. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and there are so many homey and cozy touches. Whether you are kama'aina or visitors from afar- you will really enjoy this place.

Everything about this place is magical. The views amazing. On the side of Haleakala looking towards West Maui mts! Lots of things to do on that side of island and great restaurants. Hosts were awesome.

Great views

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage in Maui's upcountry. The views of the valley are amazing, and the cottage contained all we needed to prepare our own meals. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.

The views are indeed breathtaking. It was incredible to lay in bed and watch the panoramic view of Maui at sunset. It's a lovely place. We enjoyed just hanging out there and watching the birds (we were well supplied with bird seed for the feeder). We did some cooking and found the kitchen to have very nice tools and appliances. Even tiki mugs! We got to visit with Dawn in person and meet the cats. She was very kind and shared lots of good information. She even gave us a book! I would definitely recommend. Please note that it may not be the best place for someone who is clumsy, there is a step down in the bathroom.
