We had a wonderful 5th visit to Topsider. Terrific view and cozy interior makes it on our short list of favorite places ever. This trip we especially enjoyed the Maritime Museum in Bath and first visit to Pemaquid peninsula and lighthouse . We also discovered Maine’s own Gifford ice cream enjoyed on Tooside deck with sunset.
Topsider is a wonderful place to stay, clean, comfortable, and a view that is worth every step. Carrie has thought of everything one might need and was always available to answer any questions we had as well as providing information about the area. We truly enjoyed our week there, it just went by too quickly. Hope to return and would highly recommend staying here.
This was the first time we stayed in the same rental for out vacation. The location is beautiful, the views are amazing, and the house had everything we needed for our stay. Would highly recommend this house.
This was our second stay at The Topsider, and we enjoyed this visit as much as we did the first! We were out and about most days exploring the area, but always looked forward to returning back to our home away from home to eat a delicious meal and relax. On a couple of dreary and rainy days, we were just as happy to hang out, play some games, relax, and take in the views! This is such a special place, thank you again to our wonderful hosts!
Amazing, accommodating hosts at a one of a kind dreamy summer oasis with views and fun like no other… almost afraid to say too much cuz we don’t want the competition to get it again… Paul and Carrie are the best host and hostess! So responsive and kind!
The Topsider is a beautiful house with an unbelievable view! I wanted to spend all my time on the porch watching all the wildlife swimming and flying around me. Carrie has thought of everything anyone could need and is an amazing communicator and host. Always ready with recommendations. We’re hoping to make another trip in the fall before the house closes up for winter.

Seniors Beware
This cottage may not be the best choice for older folks, or those with limited mobility. There were approximately 40 stairs to climb to enter the cottage. The mattresses are not very comfortable, especially if one has arthritis. The views are spectacular, and if you don't care about the stairs or beds, but want to be wowed by the scenery, this is your place.
Wonderful location with welcoming hosts? The house is cozy and invites relaxation. The views are spectacular. Even the location was perfect, and we took short trips up and down midcoast Maine.
This was our 4th visit to Topsider. It is always a joy to be there, enjoying the views and comfortable furnishings. It is perfect location for day tripping to Bath, Boothbay, and Freeport. But best part is always coming back.
As so many others have said, Topsider is top notch! It is impeccably kept and newly refurbished, with plenty of room indoors and out. You will gasp at the beauty of the breathtaking views to the east (especially when the sun is rising), the south where the Kennebec and Sheepscot Rivers converge, and to the west along and across the Kennebec River (especially when the sun is setting) when you reach the top of the stairs! Topsider has everything you need. First Beach and Half Mile Beach at Reid State Park are the best. Highly recommend Osprey for dinner (we loved it so much, we ate there three times!) Highly recommend the Topsider!
The Topsider exceeded our expectations! The house was a perfect home away from home for the week for our family of four (two adults and two kids). The views from the deck are amazing, and the extra yard games provided were very much appreciated and enjoyed. We were out and about most days, but always looked forward to coming back after an active day to relax at the house. We found it very comfortable, and greatly enjoyed all of the house's amenities. Thank you Carrie and Paul for the wonderful stay!
Another relaxing enjoyable week. Our visit to the Topsider coincided with a recent flood in our house that left us displaced and living out of hotels for the past month. We really appreciated the opportunity to recharge our batteries amidst the sweeping Ocean and river-front views, the sound of the surf below, lobster feasts on the deck with good friends under the beautiful new gazebo with lot's of fresh vegetables from the Live and Grow farmstand down the street. A week's worth of moderate temps amidst an otherwise brutally hot summer meant we never had to use the ductless AC units and instead let the gentle breeze course through all the open windows. Thanks again Carrie and Paul for another memorable experience in your lovely house on the bluff.
We loved our stay at the Topsider! A really special property in Georgetown with amazing views. The house was cozy and while the stairs are steep the payoff is worth it! We loved the little beach and all of the small details. Thank you!
This is our second year of staying at The Topsider and we couldn't be more pleased, once again. The house is stocked with everything you need from beach towels to blankets and paper towels, corn hole, giant Connect Four, and even books. The view is amazing and we like climbing the stairs for exercise. The owners are very prompt with their communication and super helpful, as well... definitely recommend staying here!
This place is amazing with its view over the Atlantic ocea and the surrounding islands.
A really cozy cabin that suited the whole family.
Can recommend!
Our stay was wonderful. It was our second time in the cottage and we had a lovely time. The view were perfect, the cottage is comfortable and the weather was perfectly Maine. We will be planning our fall vacation soon.
Simply the best of coastal Maine: A wrap-around view of the river, the sea, the stars, a beautiful, historic home, and the friendliest hosts who generously share this perfect retreat-what more could one ask for?
This was our third visit to this property. The view is unequalled. Sunsets are guaranteed to take your breath away. The house is completely furnished with essentials and comfortable seating. We enjoyed shopping at Georgetown Pottery and having lunch at Taste of Maine. We four family members are all in our 70’s and planned our treks carefully up and down the stairs and had no problems. Hope to come again.
This was an awesome property. Amazing views from every room. Well appointed with everything you need. However you need to do the stairs, but its worth it. Feels like th essence of Maine. Lots of lobster eating opportunities. Loved it.
This beach rental was amazing...fully stocked with supplies, activities for kids and exceptional views of the ocean. The beach is a short walk and was great first swimming, collecting sea glass, or just soaking in the beautiful
We had a wonderful week. The property and area were great for relaxing and having fun at the house and local area. The house was one of the best stocked places we have ever stayed in and the air conditioning was wonderful luxury during our August stay.
Perfect location, high up on a rocky peninsula hilltop with beautiful views of the Kennebec River and Atlantic coast. Older cottage has been updated so house offers a nice mixture of old fashioned charm and modern conveniences such as individual ductless air units in each room. The sturdy wrap-around deck was so nice, nobody felt the need to leave the property except for food runs and walks to the little secluded beach nearby. Plenty of useful household items are available such as towels, lots of kitchen supplies, books and games. Our grandson particularly appreciated the crafts and children's books (we read them all). The springwater dispenser got lots of use during the hot days. Carrie and Paul were great hosts and very responsive whenever we had questions and/or needed to touch base. It was obvious to our family and friends that this isn't just a turnkey revenue-generating rental, as they obviously take wonderful care of the house and those lucky enough to spend time in it!
