Second Chances: Short distance to the surf!
Our getaway "Second Chances" is yours to enjoy! This is a fun place to soak up the sun, take in the ocean breeze and enjoy all that Oak Island has to offer. This home was moved from Caswell Beach in 2016 (just up the road on the same island). It is the result of blood, sweat, grace, divine intervention along with a lot of luck! We want you to enjoy what we have worked hard to restore. This has been a labor of love for our family. Destined to be torn down due to the value of the land, we were able to connect with the previous owner, house movers, and some wonderful contractors (too may people to thank) that helped us assemble this home in the heart of Oak Island. Now this house has a second chance at bringing folks the joy that only a beach house can accomplish. Oak Island, meanwhile, is one of the few South facing islands so you can see the sun rise and set from the beach! The Oak Island pier is not far and free to the public for walking (pay to fish). Surf, fish, sun bathe, or just sit in sand and take in the refreshing feel that can only be obtained with that ocean air! While you will likely be out and about at the beach we hope you will also enjoy our house. You can even see the ocean...really tiny from the end of the driveway LOL! (not an ocean view house) The home offers many amenities including...

Our little family absolutely fell in love with this cute rental! Krista & Stephen were amazing hosts and answered any questions we had in a timely manner. They even had beach and kitchen essentials! Would definitely recommend for another beach trip!!

Kristen was very responsive and helpful. I would suggest having a large broom downstairs so the sand can be swept out after trips to the beach.I would recommend having the carpets cleaned as there was quite a bit of animal hair even though it appeared to have been vacuumed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We have our carpets cleaned every year at the beginning of the season. We haven't had anyone else say anything about animal hair so I will look into this as we don't allow animals at our rental. We have a cleaner come between stays so our guests can have the best possible stay.
I can look into leaving a broom downstairs outside, but I am always worried about it going missing. We do have a broom in the laundry room area that could have been used to sweep up sand, if they wanted to do this.
We strive for a 5 star stay and feel like we could have remedied these 2 items while they stayed, if they would have let us know there were issues.

Family vaca
Overall stay was excellent. Quiet neighborhood, restaurants, stores were easily accessible. Checkin and check out were very easy.

Relaxing
The location was perfect. We walked to the beach and drove easily to places to eat.

Oak Island
The house and location were very conve ient and cmose to everything. Lots of space for everyone and outdoor seating.

Second Chances OKI beach house
Our first time staying at this house and we enjoyed every bit of it! The house is a short walk to the beach, close to several of our favorite restaurants, and even in a great neighborhood. Our kids made friends over the week being here which made it even more memorable! The owners were very responsive, friendly, and helpful with any and every question we had. A great place to stay. We will be booking again!

As described, good overall experience.
House is a little dated, but that's in the description, if so some research into other reviews. Close to most restaurants and shopping.

Great Place to Stay!
Tranquil Harbour was a great place to stay for our family vacation. The place is very clean, and close enough to the beach to make for a wonderful vacation. We found it easiest to drive the short distance to the public parking rather than have to carry all our stuff, but there was always parking available. Krista was easy to contact and she answered questions quickly.

Good spot!
A few minor issues were handled quickly. Great house for 5+ adults. Short walk to the beach and convenient drive to grocery and restaurants. Would stay again.

Great place for a family to stay
This was a great place to stay. It was clean and good location. We walked to the beach. The place had lots of games that we enjoyed. The kitchen was helpful to use to cook meals. There is lots of room. I would definitely recommend to others.

This home was moved from Caswell Beach in 2016 (just up the road on the same island). It is the result of blood, sweat, grace, divine intervention along with a lot of luck! We want you to enjoy what we have worked hard to restore. This has been a labor of love for our family. Destined to be torn down due to the value of the land, we were able to connect with the previous owner, house movers, and some wonderful contractors (too may people to thank) that helped us assemble this home in the heart of Oak Island. Now this house has a second chance at bringing folks the joy that only a beach house can accomplish.

Direct beach access (no canal to cross), centrally located (food and shopping very near by), and lots of space to hang out. We almost did not put the house on pilings but we are so glad we did! Even when the weather is foul you can hang out under the house and watch it rain. (The enclosed section under the house is owner storage that is unfinished and not open to guests.) The beach access is a close distance that you can walk or drive! Likewise, Shagger Jacks and The Koko Cabana are just blocks away. They offer great food and beverages.

The close proximity to the Oak Island pier is a real plus! Free to walk and the Koko Cabana restaurant is a nice place to eat oceanside. On the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway) side of the island you can find the Crab Pier that is a public access dock on the marsh for spectacular views and maybe some fishing at high tide. Bring your kayaks for the public kayak access areas including the very nice launch by the recreation department.
