Waterfront Beach Cottage in Protected National Park Waters - Estate Zootenvaal

This one bedroom/one bath postcard perfect cottage sits on a gentle grade across the calm, protected waters of the US Virgin Islands National Park. Estate Zootenvaal was well known for 4 cottages that share a private sandy beach. The 2017 hurricanes destroyed these cottages and but now they are back, better than every. Everything about this cottage is all brand new, including Solar Panels and Tesla Batteries for backup in case of power outages.
The house is elegantly furnished and well equipped with everything you'll need for a perfect vacation.
Enjoy the cooling trade winds and panoramic views while you relax on the porch or explore Hurricane Hole in the provided 2 man kayak. The gated private beach with lounge chairs and tables are perfect for reading a book or taking a swim or snorkel in this beautiful bay.

We especially loved the balcony with the spectacular water view of Hurricane Hole and watching wildlife all around us. It was paradise. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable, and Fernando and Dorothy were wonderful hosts.

We loved access to the kayaks. There is a very well stocked kitchen. The view from the covered deck is beautiful. It is a very quiet location in spite of it's proximity to the road. There is very little vehicle traffic. The Brown Bay trail is very close, which leads to Waterlemon Key where there is great snorkeling.

Our stay was just fantastic!!! The house was perfect and had everything we needed! It had a beautiful view and was easy to get to even for us first timers! The entire island was without power for 2 days while we were there but the house had backup power so we hardly noticed! Fernando met us when we checked in and gave us lots of great pointers for the island! Dorothy was very responsive and made sure we were comfortable!! We will definitely be back to St John and we hope to stay here again!!

Gorgeous view ! Wonderful comfy home . Ocean breezes were perfect never had to use the air in bedroom at all . Everything you need stocked in the kitchen . Hosts are very welcoming and helpful with lots of tips on what to do on the island . Loved the quieter side of island and only 20 to 30 mins back to Cruz bay for some activities . Highly recommend this lovely peaceful cottage .

My husband and I visited the beautiful island of St. John for the first time to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Beach Cottage exceeded any and all expectations! It is ideally situated on a quiet cove that borders the Virgin Island National Park. Dorothy, our host, thoughtfully provided all the amenities to make a stay utterly relaxing.

Stayed at the property for our honeymoon and had a great experience… great location, beautiful house looking over Hurricane Hole near Coral Bay. Would definitely come and stay there again in the future!

We had the best trip ever staying at Dorothy and Fernando’s amazing cottage. The house had everything you could possibly need and more! Waking up to the sounds of the waves from the beach across the street was magic. We are already looking at dates to come back to this wonderful place!

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful location! Dorothy and Fernando were the sweetest. Our mornings started with sunrise on the porch and ended enjoying the moonlight over the water. The home is so well equipped there was nothing we were missing to enjoy our stay. The views from the home are spectacular. We were next to the National Park with a great hiking trail just down the road. I am so happy we decided to stay on this side of the island for the peacefulness while still being able to hop in our jeep rental and get anywhere we wanted in about minutes. We would happily stay here again.

Beautiful property in paradise!

We had a great stay at this beautiful cottage overlooking Hurricane Hole. Our favorite part was the porch with the fantastic view. The cottage was stocked with everything we needed for the week and was very clean and comfortable. Thanks for the great vacation!

We had a great week in St. John

Everything needed for an island vacation was provided in this home. The view was beautiful and lots of other beaches were a short drive away. The owners were helpful and available.

Perfect St. John Cottage

This was our second time renting the property and everything was perfect just like the first time. We enjoyed sitting outside eating dinner and listening to the waves. We hope to come back again.

Relaxing getaway

The property is a wonderful and relaxing getaway! The property is located on the quiet side of the island and is perfect for those seeking some R&R. The private beach is a great perk, and kayaks are great for getting out to snorkel. Dorothy and Fernando are wonderful hosts and very responsive! Would definitely come again!

Perfect post-elopement getaway!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Beach Cottage after our recent elopement on St. John. A peaceful, beautiful escape, we loved sitting on the porch listening to the waves. Dorothy and Fernando are lovely hosts! The cottage is very well stocked with everything you'd need, and impeccably clean. Being located just outside Coral Bay, the cottage was a wonderful home base for exploring St. John. Would love to stay at the Beach Cottage on our next visit to St. John!

Very comfortable and peaceful location!

We were celebrating our 33 anniversary and third time at STJ. Very peaceful, quiet location on very comfortable, clean and well-stocked house! Can easily hear the waves from the comfort of the porch. Also worth the short walk to the private beach because there is shade as well as sun and a gazebo there for comfort no matter the preference of the person (I am a sun lover and my husband prefers shade!). Very much worth the stay!

A beautiful week in paradise!

This property was an absolute gem! So much thought and detail went into this beach cottage to make it the perfect home away from home. Dorothy was extremely attentive in keeping communication lines open and was a wealth of information in helping us navigate the island. Don't look any further for a place to stay on St John, because this property was perfect!

Fernando is Italian and I come from Colorado. We have lived on St John for over 20 years. Our first home, was La Dolce Vita, also in Coral Bay and also on the water. We used to short term it and do charters on Fernando's beloved "Fernando's Republic", which sadly sank in 2017.

Zootenvaal is a very special property on St John and especially on the East side of the island facing National Park Waters. The property has a gentle slop with grass lawn, very rare for St John!
