Cottage in the Woods
This delightful cottage in the Cambria pines offers quiet solitude along with the beauty and romance of California's central coast. Keep a lookout for the deer & turkeys that routinely wander around the property.
This cozy pet-friendly cottage is tastefully decorated and available for short term vacation stays or 30-day stays. It is a 2-story home, with a kitchen, dining room and half bath on the entry level that looks out on the step-down living room and on to the large back deck and pine forest. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with one king bed and one queen bed with a shared full bath. There is also a small deck off the larger bedroom where the view makes you feel like you are perched in a tree house.

This special property located on Lodge Hill affords Lots of privacy, yet it's just a a short drive to town or the beach. The neighborhood is quiet, and beautiful to walk through. The forest trails on the Fiscalini preserve are just a 3-minute walk from the front door. You can sit out on the back-deck to enjoy the beautiful garden and a view of the forest. A small patio out front gets the afternoon sun and is a great place to relax and enjoy watching birds, turkeys & deer. A small one car garage with steep driveway houses a large sized washer & dryer. Lovely getaway

The property was tricky to find in the hills of Cambria. However it was a great place to unwind and catch nature in the owls and turkeys and deer flowing about the land as you have breakfast or dinner or just hanging around the back terrace. Beautiful, clean, organized. I loved spending a week in Dreydon Cottage!

Cute little foresty cabin

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay here. Our previous times in Cambria were in rentals that were closer to the ocean, but with rental prices becoming so much higher, we decided to find a place a little further away from the ocean. The cabin is really cute, it is super clean and attractively decorated. The driveway however, is downright dangerous. Not sure how it is even legal. It is so steep. It’s unfortunate that no street parking is allowed, if you could put one car on the street, it would make a huge difference. There was construction going on in the neighborhood, which was mildly annoying, but even more so on a Sunday morning. But we get that that’s nobody’s fault. The Cabin book said there was an air fryer, and there wasn’t one or at least, we couldn’t find it. The kitchen was fairly well stocked, but no foil nor saran wrap, I’m making it difficult to save cooked food. The fireplace was wonderful, great ambience, and did a great job warming up the lower part of the cabin. We see that it is on the market now, so probably will not remain a rental. But we wanted to give our feedback, which I think is mostly positive.

SO Charming!

We had an amazing time at Dreydon Cottage. The place is fabulous and in a great location. There is a fabulous deck with seating and a very cute backyard/garden area as well. Both bedrooms are located upstairs which was fine for us but may be an issue for some people with more limited mobility.

Lovely Cottage but Parking Is Tough

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at the Dreydon Cottage. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen and bathroomws were clean and well-stocked. The instructions for using the wifi, thermostat, etc. were easy to understand. Someone even came by to put the garbage bins on the street on trash day. We also loved the location, being just a few blocks from the Fiscalini preserve. The one nit we would pick is that parking in the driveway is challenging (and we were instructed that on-street parking is not allowed). Although the property description noted that the driveway is steep, the photograph is misleading in that it understates the steepness of the slope.

Amazing property

This cute in the forest home was perfect for my partner and me, and our furry family loved the yard. The home was spotless, comfortable, and we loved the fireplace. The view was spectacular off the deck, and the wandering deer and turkeys were a bonus. A perfect stay for a perfect vacation. Thank you.

Had a nice stay

Nice house. We loved the location. It wasn’t very toddler friendly though. We only brought one baby gate for the main set of stairs leading up to the bedrooms and wished we had brought at least 2 or 3. The pictures didn’t show any of the stairs. There are 3 stairs going down to the living room that are tiled that I wasn’t expecting to need to block off from both the bottom and the top. The front door opens from the inside regardless if it’s locked or not… so that’s not fun with an 18 month old. All things that are fine for older kids, but just sort of exhausting with a toddler. The driveway is steap, as everyone else mentioned. My husband drives a full size, 4 door Ram truck & almost got stuck in the driveway after we got some rain. Took a few tries to get out. We didn’t even try to park in the garage with it so not sure if it would have fit. My only complaint is, when it rained the living room did smell like dog pee. We didn’t smell it AT ALL our first two days there… but it was pretty strong after a day of rain so I'm assuming it was from the dirt under the deck out back.

Relaxing in the forest

We enjoyed watching the deer and the wild turkeys, there are redwood trees across the street, and open spaces everywhere. Beds were super comfortable and the fully enclosed backyard was a big plus for our dog. We loved the morning sun on the back deck, and the afternoon sun in the front yard . Yes the driveway was steep, we recommend backing down, but our long SUV fit in the compact garage. The front yard has a nice stairway to the street for relaxing neighborhood walks. We will return 😍

Our stay was lovely. We had everything we needed and we really enjoyed the fireplace. My only suggestion to take with a grain of salt is to add a deadbolt on the front door for us city folk.

Perfect Place

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved this property! It is uber clean and maintained with everything we needed. It looks like it was renovated recently. New floors, windows, shutters, hardware, doors, paint etc. Love the floor plan and the lovely backyard I could hang in forever. To the left of the property is an empty forested lot. The back of the properties on this street have empty lots behind them as well. So, there is a great deal of viewing room and wild turkey and deer frequent daily. It is an 8-10 walk to the Tipton Street Fiscalini Preserve entrance. You can walk the flat Victoria Trail and get the most beautiful view of the ocean and Cambria. Yes, the front driveway is steep (on the downhill side). It was a bit daunting at first when I saw it, but really no problem at all. Here's a hint: There is a garage fob in the house. Park initially on the street for a second and go in the house to get the garage fob. Return to your car, open the garage, and back into the driveway and garage. This will give you more room to drive down and assist as you come out of the driveway to leave to town. I hesitate to leave such a glowing review, as I really want to return to this house (and want it to be available)..lol. The owners have done a great job! Thank you for allowing us to experience this Cambria treasure.

Very comfortable pet friendly house

A well stocked comfortable home. Parking for a large van is not recommended. The short driveway is very steep, a regular sized vehicle would not be a problem and could park in the garage without needing to be on the steep angle. Other than that, the home was great, yard secure and bed and furnishings very comfortable. Wildlife sightings were a daily occurance…family of deer and wild turkeys!

Dreydon Delight

Loved our stay at Dreydon Cottage. Very clean, nicely decorated, comfy furniture. Kitchen well stocked with all necessary items. Beds very comfy with nice linens. Cute, funky back garden. A little hilly, but area completely fenced. Loved spending time on the deck for morning coffee and evening wine. Evening visits from large group of deer! Parking is off street, so garage is nice and clean for parking. Neighborhood is nice and quiet. Will definitely stay here again. Oh, and dog friendly!

Beautiful Home in the Woods

We loved how cozy and quiet the house was. My wife and I came for a weekend with friends and we really appreciated how quiet the neighborhood was without being far from town and the other adventures up and down the coast. We will definitely be staying here again on subsequent visits.

Comfortable quiet house in Cambria

This house is a great place to stay in Cambria, just a short drive to town or the beach. The house is well equipped with everything we needed for cooking and the beds were comfortable. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with nice outside spaces as well. I would recommend this house for your Cambria vacation!
