Lovely short family break

We booked a stay with our children and grandkids (plus 1 dog!). The property was a perfect size for our needs. Beautifully decorated and well maintained. Plenty of bathrooms! An excellent choice for a family holiday. We really enjoyed our time there and love the quiet feel of the coast along the Deal/Walmer/Kingsdown front. We will definitely return to this area.

Highly recommend

Fab house for big group. 5 comfortable bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (3 with showers), fab lounge/dining/kitchen area downstairs to socialise in. Short easy walk from station, 2 min walk to the beach. Easy check in. Dreamy stay. Only slight issue was that more than one person showering at once was a problem for water pressure, which is odd for a house of this size (and accommodating that many guests).

Five Star Stay

From our very first contact with Keepers Cottages, until we had to delay our departure time because of a trip to 'urgent care', everything was perfect. Our booking for Malvern House in Deal was handled very efficiently and promptly. We received all the information we needed plus emailed helpful hints and local information to ensure a trouble free stay. The house itself was ideal for our family group which included two young children and a puppy. Arriving to see a lit up Christmas tree and local goodies in the kitchen, was an added bonus. The house was maintained to a high standard and equipped with everything we needed. The location, moments from the seafront, was ideal. As parking on the road has restrictions, we had to juggle with our three cars but this was a minor issue. Deal itself is very pretty with a wealth of places to eat and independent shops - all very walkable. We had a great stay and hope to return again.

The house is in a great position for beach and local town, greta for walking and we walked both ways along sea front, it good to find so many independent restaurants for a choice to eat

Lovely stay

Our family spent a wonderful week in Malvern House in Deal. Close to the Beach and to Deal Castle we had lovely walks and a great time in and around Deal. The house US spacious and very cosy at the same time. The kitchen is well equipped, the baths are modern and very nice. The Keepers Cottages Team is always very helpful and extremely friendly. Can‘t wait to come back next year.

Great house at the beach

Malvern House was the perfect house to spend an exciting week in Deal. The rooms were very clean and spacious, the bathrooms perfect for our eight-people-family… the living-room was our children‘s most favourite place to relax in the comfortable sofas or to read books during short rain periods. The Hufe dining table was ideal for pur common meals or to sit together and Play games. We enjoyed every moment in Malvern House.

Good location for beach and walks to Walmer

Our group of 6 adults, 4 children (3-15), a baby and a puppy had a great time and the house suited us well. Kitchen was well equipped and large basement room was a great social space Negatives were noise from the busy road, parking challenges, no blackout blinds and a yard at the back with holes and broken slabs that was too dangerous for young children. However we had a great time and would return, especially if some of the negatives were fixed. Keepers Cottages were a pleasure to deal with.

Some shortcomings affected our experience

The cleaner was still working when we arrived and was there for a further hour....not a great start. During our stay we had a number of small problems...oven making a rattling noise, water pressure in the showers variable to non-existent, taps in upstairs bathroom loose, no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets, small patio garden and garden furniture in need of tlc...looking very tired. Our original booking had been swapped as our original choice became unavailable unfortunately. On the plus side, the kitchen was well equipped, the downstairs space was good for our group and the location was great ,apart from having to park the cars 5-10 minutes away from the house. We felt that we had paid q high amount for this holiday house and we didnt get value for money

Lovely house, good location, difficulties with parking

We arrived in Kent and rang Keepers Cottages as we had travelled 6 hours and they let us in the house early. Beautiful house and location. Parking rather difficult and could not park anywhere close at times as all full. Did manage to find out with blue badge(disabled badge) can park anywhere for indefinite time period even in permit holder bay. Very well equipped property and any issues were resolved. Would definitely use again when visiting family in Deal. Having a pint of milk there on arrival and basic essentials was also very helpful - thank you all for making a difficult reason for travel more comfortable

A comfortable family house in a lovely town!

Malvern House is a comfortable, clean and well-equipped family home which served as a good base for our visit as a family of 7 adults. I grew up in Deal so know it well and it was good to go back to see what has changed and what has stayed the same. There were some minor issues with the property over the course of our stay but the customer service and support provided by Keeper's Cottages was excellent and we heartily recommend them as a company. The house is situated very close to the beach on a short but busy road. There is no parking at the property so the advice from the company about where to park for free during our stay was very helpful. We had 2 cars as we had come from different parts of the country and we decided not to move the cars at all over the course of our stay- we enjoyed lots of lovely walks and runs in Deal itself (including the Walmer and Deal Seafront parkrun which was great), and we travelled to Canterbury and Sandwich by train. It is very easy to get around Deal and everything you might need is available within a short walk so it is very possible to have a good holiday without using a car.

Disappointing

I am writing to provide a clear and professional summary of my experience at the property during my recent stay in Deal. Our initial communication with your company was excellent, and my guests and I were genuinely excited about the trip and the accommodation shown on your website. We also appreciated being allowed early entry. However, upon arrival, two members of your team attended the property to investigate an issue that had already been reported, which immediately suggested that there were existing concerns. Unfortunately, the house did not meet the standard we expected. The property appeared tired, with scruffy walls, blinds in the bedrooms that did not close properly, and a damp smell in the basement. While the layout and space are lovely, the house clearly requires some care and attention. During our stay, I contacted the office to report a number of issues. I was initially told that repairs would not be possible that day, but on Saturday someone did attend. Below is a summary of the problems encountered: The blinds in the bedrooms did not close properly, allowing significant light in and preventing a good night’s rest. This was not resolved. The kitchen tap was loose. This was resolved. The bathroom sink plug did not function, meaning the sink could not be used until repaired. Once repaired, the sink tap then became loose. The toilet flush in the middle bathroom was extremely loose. Although temporarily fixed, it became loose again on the next use. Two of the keys provided were bent, leaving eight guests with only one usable key. We were told a replacement would be cut on Friday, but this did not happen. The oven was extremely noisy. I was informed that an engineer was required, so this could not be resolved during our stay. At the end of the stay, I emailed the office with further concerns: A dirty black sock was left on the floor of the top bedroom, and the floor appeared not to have been vacuumed. There was no frying pan available in the kitchen. There was no small sharp knife, only three very large ones. None of the bedrooms had opening windows, making the rooms uncomfortably hot in warm weather. Despite having three bathrooms, the water pressure was extremely poor. Only one person could shower at a time, meaning we had to schedule showers. The garden paving was hazardous. A partially sighted guest nearly fell several times due to cracked and unstable tiles. The garden appeared neglected, with weeds and broken paving. Some of the garden furniture was old, rusty, and unsafe. A guest could easily have fallen through the damaged chairs. Given the cost of the property and the number of issues, I requested a refund. I was initially offered 10%, and told the owner would be contacted regarding a further refund. I received no update and had to follow up several times. Eventually, I was informed that a 20% refund would be issued, which I accepted. However, the payment did not arrive, and again I had to chase repeatedly. I received only a partial refund at first and had to call for clarification. The response I received over the phone felt dismissive and uninterested. The remainder of the refund arrived days later. Had I not continued to follow up, I am not confident I would have received the full amount. This was a special occasion for me — my 60th birthday — and I had paid for my friends to join me. The house is a wonderful size and in a brilliant location, but the condition of the property and the handling of the issues by the office left me extremely disappointed. Although I appreciate the offer of a substantial discount on a future booking, I am unsure whether I would feel confident booking with your company again after this experience.

Wonderful stay by the seaside

Great house with plenty of room and a fabulous amount of bathrooms if there are many of you. Unusual layout as the kitchen and living room are downstairs. If you're in the top bedroom (with its enormous and lavish bathroom), you have to be very mobile to make it down 4 flights of stairs to the basement. Excellent location with the seafront just down the road. Great pubs and restaurants.

Room window isolation problem

Rent for 10. The table was designed for maxi 6/8 persons. In the first floor bedroom (street size) 2 windows couldn't be fully closed due to bad installation. We could hear the cars all along the night which was very annoying for sleeping (bring your ear buds) . Worse, the bedroom was very cold and windy (november). Disappointed...

Beautiful Deal

The house is lovely and it’s big enough that we were not on top of each other during our stay. 10 good friends away for a special occasion. The letting company were really good when we had a few issues. The only other problems we found was that the owner will not get parking permits for guests even though they are available from Deal Council and that the house is on a busy one way road, traffic at all hours. The house is a short walk to the beach and the town. Deal is such a pretty place, lots to do and despite the busy road I would book again. However, I hope if we do, that parking permits will be available.

Spacious, elegant large house

We were a group of 9 all female friends celebrating my birthday. The house was perfect in every way, large, spacious with plenty of bathrooms. The decor was light and airy and the house was nice and clean. Excellent central location.
