Gorgeous traditional stone villa with private pool and stunning mountain views

We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday - it was a pleasure to have you staying. You are right about the view - it is what made us fall in love with the house. Teresa

So glad you enjoyed your holiday and found our home a pleasant place to stay. We hope to see you again.

Thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you had a lovely time enjoying the house and especially the pool. You are right about the views - it was what attracted us to the house as the views really are stunning. We love watching the swallows dip over the pool and the lights coming on in the churches in the villages across the valley. You were fabulous guests. Teresa

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review although I was disappointed it was lower than expected, particularly since items were broken Including a bedside lamp and I was totally understanding and made no charges for these. You did not say when you arrived that the kItchen was dirty but since you have now mentioned in this review i have addressed with cleaning staff though i would have preferred to have addressed on check in rather than post stay as you sent no pictures I could use as evidence to the cleaners. Regarding the pool, it was completely clean and was cleaned the morning of your arrival. You sent a photo of a spider that had landed in pool, which we cannot control as we are in the Tuscan countryside, hence why we leave a net. I also asked pool man to go back to reclean (Remove spider) and retest the water at my expense as you requested. We are meticulous re ensuring our guests have a comfortable and clean stay but do rely on being told about any issues straight away. The kitchen side window is frosted for privacy and it is unusual for the House next door to be occupied - the table you refer to is some distance from the house and the pool and patio area And terrace are completely private with uninterupted views of tuscan mountains and Villages beyond. I am pleased that despite your opening niggles you had a pleasant stay and that you would recommend to other holiday makers looking for a relaxing stay in the tranquil Tuscan hills.

It was a pleasure to host you and your family. By Italian standards the road is considered easy as wide enough for two cars to pass (the bus runs up and down too) and not too steep. You do get used to it very quickly and as you say the views and tranquility are so worth it! Hope to see you again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. We would be delighted to welcome you back.

Thank you for your kind comments. You were so unlucky with the weather - June is normally lovely. Hope you can return sometime when the sun shines all day.

Hi Matthew, Thank you for your lovely review. I am so glad you loved the house as much as we do and you enjoyed your stay. We hope you will come back again one day. Teresa

Thank you for your kind comments. So glad you enjoyed yourself. Hope to see you again.

I am so pleased you had an enjoyable holiday and loved the house as much as we do. It is indeed very tranquil and the views are amazing. You are welcome back anytime. Teresa

So glad you enjoyed your stay. The pool is beautiful in the summer months! We look forward to welcoming you back next year.

Hi David Glad you enjoyed your stay and that the mis-understanding over the beds was sorted to your satisfaction. The re-cycling has been an absolute nightmare for everyone in Vetteglia! We are at the house at present and have been struggling too. The good news for anyone else reading this review is that the teething problems have been sorted and the system is finally working! We would be delighted to welcome you back at any time. Ginette and Richard

We are pleased you had a nice holiday and enjoyed the house and its amenities. Sorry to hear the internet was a bit patchy. We have since upgraded it to the fastest internet you can get in the mountains of Vetteglia so hopefully this issue is resolved. I am glad you had a good holiday. Teresa

Hi Sarah Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday and we were very happy to host you at our property- the perfect guests. We very much hope that you will return one day. Teresa

Hi Lawrence, Thank you for your kind words and I am so pleased that you had such a wonderful holiday and enjoyed staying in our home. You are right that it is the most tranquil and beautiful setting and the perfect place to unwind. I am glad you managed to get out and about and visit Lucca (my favourite place too) as well as get involved in some adventurous activities. You have been superb guests and you would be welcome back any time. Teresa

Hi Yvan I am glad you enjoyed your holiday and appreciated the beautiful location the house is in. I am naturally disappointed you gave us three stars unlike all our other reviews which are 4 or 5 stars as we invest much time, money and effort in making the house perfect for a relaxing holiday. The house is traditional stone built Italian with terracotta ceilings, Tuscan style and shutters on windows to keep it cool inside when it is very hot weather. You can open these to let in light as there are nets on all windows. Despite traditional Italian build the kitchen and bathroom etc are modern and new as is the furniture including the mattresses. Unfortunately mattress feel will always be subjective as everyone has a different preference on firm, soft or bouncy. These are good quality and new. There are many beautiful towns and villages within 10 minutes drive of the house including Barga, Gallicano and Lucca is 35-45 minutes away. Pisa is an hour, the beaches just over an hour, Florence 1.5 hours and skiing an hour. There is a shop less than three minutes away (you can walk in 30 mins but through uneven path) that stocks everything including a great deli and freshly baked bread and cakes. At San Cassiano about 3k away there is a grocers, butchers and greengrocers and a fantastic bar and traditional family run restaurant for pizza and traditional Tuscan food. The location means you are surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery without being too far from Bagni di lucca and can see swallows dip in the pool, goats wander through the fields and fireflies in June. Perched in the hills opposite are several villages with church bells sounding - it’s idyllic as many of our reviewers have pointed out. It means you can enjoy the best of both worlds - visiting bustling towns and coming home to the tranquility of the mountains and immersed in nature. The pool is completely private and totally separate from neighbours house and they are an italian older couple and rarely visit apart from odd weekend. I leave lots of info for holidaymakers but I do not keep messaging you as I like to leave people in peace to enjoy their holiday but I am always responsive if anyone contacts me about anything. All guests vary on how much contact they want from the host and I am sorry if you felt I was not in contact enough. Thank you for your comments. Teresa

Dear Géraldine I am glad you enjoyed your holiday and loved the beautiful way we have renovated our home as well as the amazing views to the hills and mountains beyond. There are many places to visit quite nearby and some you come across by accident and are not always advertised as tourist attractions but are breathtakingly beautiful. I thoroughly recommend Barga and Castelnuovo which are quite large towns a short drive away. Lucca is a must visit and around 40 minutes drive with loads to see and do. There is also a train which goes from Fornoli. We hope to see you back here one day. Teresa

Thank you for your lovely words. I am glad you enjoyed your holiday. Teresa

Fabulous guests to host. Left house tidy and very friendly and chilled. Recommended.

Hi Dirk It was a pleasure to have you stay in our home and see how much effort we put into making it feel like a home from home for guests. We do try to equip the house with everything you might need especially in the kitchen. We have recently installed a brand new dishwasher and shower and continually update our furnishings to ensure the property is top notch. I am glad you took advantage of exploring the area as there is so much to see and do within an hour away including beautiful medieval towns and churches 15 mins away and the amazing ancient town of Lucca 45 minutes away. If you love walking and nature the location is perfect as there are loads of places to visit including a gorge 30 minutes away, canyon park (10 minutes drive) where you can paddle board and zip wire and the field of flowers with stunning views. Thank you for appreciating our house and hope you will stay with us again. Teresa

Dear Ralf I am so pleased you and your family had a lovely stay. You are right about the tranquility and view too. I hope we see you again. I do try to make the house feel like a home from home and will be making it even better next year.

Hi Anita I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The house is in the mountains so the internet is slow. We are waiting for a new mast in the nearby village which should improve the speed. But when you have a beautiful view, pool and warm sunshine you won’t need WiFi. There are numerous cafes in The town which have free WiFi too. I am pleased you enjoyed the house and could see the effort we have made to keep it in good condition. The mattresses are new and although you found them a little hard it is a matter of preference and guests usually don’t like soft mattresses with no support. We hope to see you back again one day. Teresa

Very pleased to read that you enjoyed your visit to Vetteglia. We are sorry that the service provided by our agent did not meet your expectations. Due to covid restrictions we have been unable to visit the house in person this year. We have raised your concerns locally and steps have already been taken to ensure face to face contact is delivered.
