There is a reason this home continues to receive consistently strong reviews (I am also a Superhost on Airbnb). We take pride in maintaining a comfortable, clean, and well-priced home in a prime location near Hunter Mountain. Regarding the reference to “DIY” work: yes, many projects in the home are done by my husband. He has over 30 years of professional experience in design, carpentry, and construction, and his work reflects that level of expertise and attention to detail. As for the stairs, the staircase to the lower level is original to the A-frame design and is consistent with similar homes of that era in the area. The stairs to the upper level are newer and were professionally designed, manufactured, and installed. They have a floating design aesthetic, which can feel different from traditional stairs, but they are secure and intentional in their design. The heating system is inspected annually and is not a fire hazard. The only oversight was the fire/CO alarms, which were replaced immediately after you brought it to our attention. We take guest safety seriously and address concerns when they are raised. While we understand that the home’s layout and architectural style may not suit every family, many guests appreciate its character and design.

I take great pride in providing a high-end, well-appointed home, with top-of-the-line appliances and amenities, and I’m sorry to hear that your stay wasn’t up to your expectations. I want to specifically address the issues you encountered with the refrigerator and electrical problems. All of the appliances in the home, including the high-end refrigerator, are carefully maintained. When the circuit breaker tripped, I immediately offered to send an electrician who is highly familiar with the property to resolve the issue the next day, while your group was out skiing, to avoid any disruption to your stay.(extension cord was a temporary solution to get you through the night). Unfortunately, my messages offering this solution went unanswered, and since I could not send the electrician without your approval, I was unable to fix the issue until after your departure. Once you left, the electrician quickly repaired the issue, and now all the appliances are in perfect working order. I’d also like to mention that most of the beds in the home, including those downstairs, have been recently upgraded with brand-new mattresses to ensure the utmost comfort for our guests. I’m sorry if the bedding did not meet your expectations. As for the cleanliness concerns, I employ a highly skilled, highly paid and professional cleaning team, and this is the first time I’ve received similar feedback. Regarding the ants, the house is located in a wooded area, and while our exterminator treated the property just before your arrival, it can take a couple of weeks to fully resolve such issues.

It is unfortunate that this particular group was uncomfortable. However, there were other groups of that size that are repeat customers for this house. When I was asked if the house is suitable for 16 people, I said that groups like that stayed in the house but encourage them to re-read the description of the house carefully since the degree of comfort is very subjective. The website clearly states the size of the house as well as description of the rooms. I am surprised to hear that living area can comfortably sit only 6 people since it over 600 sqft. This is the first year we are renting in the summer, since we as well as our friends and family would use it full time in July and August. We never felt the need for AC since let’s say last weekend the air temperature at night was at 56F. In terms of lower level being dumpy; we never had such a rainy summer; normally the radiant heat installed on the lower level worked fine. At this point we are planning to installed radiant heat under the carpet of the game room. It should solve the problem. Also, the e-check that this group left via PayPal as a security deposit bounced.
