Nouveau chalet indépendant de 1 chambre à coucher, 1 salle de bain niché dans les bois sur une parcelle de 5 acres où se trouve notre maison principale. Découvrez la sérénité de la Sierra Foothills tout en étant à seulement 5 minutes en voiture du centre-ville de Nevada. Le chalet dispose d'un aménagement généreux de 800 pieds carrés comprenant une cuisine pleine grandeur entièrement équipée, un grand salon, une chambre confortable et une salle de bains luxueuse. Les autres caractéristiques comprennent un salon cheminée, chauffage central et AC, deux téléviseurs, télévision par satellite et Internet.

A Great Spot

All new and beautifully decorated- farmhouse chic is the best way to describe. Everything you need for your stay is already there for your use. Highly recommend this listing.

Second stay, I'll hopefully be back

I've reviewed this property before, and I suppose the highest review I can offer is that I've now returned from my second stay there this year. Perfect for a quiet writing retreat to get away from the office and focus on work. Wonderful to be in the peace and quiet and enjoy great walks every day.

Farewell Tour

Nevada City was one of the stops on our Farewell to California Tour. The cottage is a wonderful hub from which to explore/enjoy the Nevada City and Grass Valley communities. Ashley and Steve have built a cottage which has everything a couple might want for a weekend, or longer, getaway. We enjoyed the thoughtful design, quality materials and finishes, and the overall comfort, coziness and quiet of their cottage. A great place to stay!

The property is even better in person than what the pictures describe. I only get this relaxed when I’m at my family farm. We loved our short time there.

This would be the dictionary definition of super host property. The inside is spectacular and brand new. Looking outside and sitting either in the front or the back you feel like you are in a picture frame. We are relaxed replenished and ready to head home

THE best place in Nevada City

The property is very comfortable, clean and beautiful. They thought about every single detail to make you feel home and not want to leave the place at all. Very quiet, peaceful and few minutes from the downtown and all the restaurants. We are planning to be back soon, this is our spot in Nevada City now.

Excellent cottage

It's a clean, new, modern cottage nestled in the woods. It's the place to stay for a few days of quiet, surrounded by trees and wildlife (we saw several deer, one with days-old fawns, hanging around). The cottage is within sight of the main house and a neighbor. It feels secluded. The cottage was built a few years ago and is comfortable and modern. Everything is well done. Steve and Ashley are friendly and responsive. They checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking. We'd happily stay there again.

PRISTINE and PRIVATE

Walked in and first thought was STUNNING!! This cottage is as if the owners lived here themselves. All details are high end and thoughtful. And Beyond Clean. From charging cords to dimmable lights…you want to stay here for the long haul. The surrounding property is secluded and beautiful with glimpses of wildlife. Super close to town and hiking … so we ate out or explored every day without hesitation. Can’t wait to return.

Honeymoon cottage?

The property was immaculate, tastefully furnished, and totally modern. It was a complete maisonette, with everything you would need for two people to enjoy a quiet getaway. So well maintained that we might have been the first people to stay there.

Return to our favorite Cottage

We couldn't ask for more. This was our third stay at Essenay, tucked in the trees of a beautiful, peaceful property. The owners have the details nicely covered. It is perfect for a relaxing retreat or place to write the great American novel. Yearly, my wife and I do a 'planning' retreat where we put suburban suburbia behind, clear our heads, do some dreaming and make some decisions on which dreams we'll pursue for the next year. We'd give it more stars if we could.

Piney Mountain Stay

Wow Nevada City get away! Steve & Ashley out did themselves. The Cottage was exceptionally designed, private, cozy, quiet, decorated and clean. The fireplace was an amazing touch, bathroom ceiling heater, awesome kitchen & pantry oh don’t forget the fridge. The bedroom & closet was amazing with its own private little patio looking out to the forest. I know we never wanted to leave. A must stay for a private safe getaway. Kind Regards, Noel & Kathy

Beautiful Cottage in the Woods

Idealic property that is like something out of magazine. Very, very clean and well maintained and the hosts couldn't be nicer. My only issues were the spotty cell service that made us set our ATT phones in the window sill to get a partial bar at best and I ended up missing several texts and calls. Also the internet is very, very slow at .22 mbps, slow enough that I couldn't even load certain sites. I could answer emails but remote access to servers at work was out of the question.

David, Thanks for your kind words about the cottage. With respect to internet/cell phone service, it's often a real challenge in these rural areas in the woods. We've recently installed a new internet service which promises much better speeds - it's tested well over the past few weeks. As far as cell phone coverage goes, Verizon is decent here but AT&T continues to be a struggle. With the improved WiFI, we're hoping that WiFi calling will be more realistic when there is poor cell phone signals.

We're Steve and Ashley. We've lived in Nevada City since 2016. We run a large flying club in the San Francisco Bay Area. We built the cottage in 2016, and lived in it for two years while our main home was being constructed. We want to be able to share the cottage, property, and local area with you. We've settled here and would love for you to discover the magic of this area as well.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

We've tried to make the cottage as welcoming as possible. Because it's basically new, you get the benefits that come with that newness. It's cozy but spacious at the same time. The surrounding property is tranquil with visiting deer and other wildlife. We're in a particularly good spot where there is essentially zero traffic noise - unusual in most of California.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Out in the woods but only 2 miles and 5 or 6 minutes to downtown Nevada City. We have a half mile walking trail around the property or you can step off the property and walk for miles without seeing a car for a long time.
