Property was a great place for a family gathering with plenty of space. What I did not notice was the beds had no sheets on them, I was frustrated at first but felt it may be because they wanted them to be fresh. There were dead stink bugs in the bathrooms (but it is the country side) so I was not upset, I just swept them up and threw then away. The kitchen has tiny black ants, so you will have to make sure to keep counter clean and leave no food out over night. The house was a beautiful setting with a really nice view of the water and the dock worked, we rented a boat for the stay and overall I was really happy with the property. Just maybe needs a thorough cleaning of windows and I used a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar each day to cut the ants back. But well worth the money and it felt like I was a grandparents home for the summer!

HI Tippie, I appreciate our positive comments, and I'm sorry that you were disappointed about the folded sheets at the foot of each bed. My cleaning team arrives at 10:30 after the guests leave, completely cleans the house, does the laundry, and leaves by 3:30 the same afternoon before the next guests arrive. It is impossible for them to also make all the 19 beds and 2 sofa beds in the short time between guests. It has been that way since 2004, and you are only the second person in 22 years to complain.

What a wonderful property for big families. We had family members from four states, ranging in age from 3-93, for Thanksgiving. The kitchen was well equipped. We had everything we needed to make four pies, a 22-pound turkey and all the fixings. Our host was pleasant and easy to work with. Very quick communications and so accommodating.I have rented many VRBO a homes, and after my experiences I come to appreciate a well-organized, professional host. We highly recommend this place.

Beautiful setting, fun for kids

Great family getaway with plenty of activities for the kids. We caught a ton of crabs off the dock and were able to cook them. The pool is a great size, and the view from sitting on the pool deck is amazing. Highly recommended for a family looking for a quiet place to stay that will keep kids entertained.

Wonderful

Our family group of age 3 to 75 had a wonderful time at the house. Everything was just as described in the listing. Everyone especially enjoyed the pool and deck area. The beds were comfortable and it was fabulous to have 6 bathrooms for our group. The only issue we had was the bugs. Be sure to bring your insect repellant!

While the home had a great layout and worked well for our family vacation, it definitely had quite a few issues. Day 1 just after we checked in we discovered a handle on one of the upstairs toilets was broken, so you couldn’t flush the toilet. We reached out to the host, she instructed us to “just reach into the back of the toilet and pull the chain” to flush the toilet. Her handy man would be out on Monday. Finally on Tuesday he came.Day 1 the ceiling fan in the living room would not work. The downstairs of the house was 86 degrees and not cooling down. We insisted the fan be fixed, it would help the air conditioning work better. Finally the electrician came out and told us “thank goodness it didn’t come on, the remote module was completed melted from electrical issues.Day 3 one of the umbrellas on the deck was barely holding on and broke off the stand collapsing and trapping my son in law under it, hitting him in the head. It took two of us to get it off him. According to the handyman, the host knew it was “going” so there was a replacement in the garage he installed. Day 4 the motor for the pool cover stopped working. The motor box was filled with trash, broken tiles, pine needles causing water to not drain, shorting out the motor. The cleaning of the house was only a surface cleaning. The black caked on dust and yuck on the track lights in the kitchen was absolutely disgusting. Cobwebs in every room. Broken furniture just piled at one end of the deck.

The guests initially thanked me for a wonderful stay. This complaint was submitted only after I charged the guests for the pool-cover service call and repair. The guests overfilled the pool, submerging the pool-cover motor, despite long-standing instructions for operating the cover and maintaining the proper water level. They also bypassed a tripped circuit breaker and continued trying to run an electric motor while it was underwater, creating a serious safety hazard. For that reason, I scheduled a $300 service call to address the damage and prevent a potential electrocution risk. Only after receiving that bill did the guests raise additional complaints. The toilet issue was a disconnected chain inside the tank; I explained how it could still be flushed until my handyman repaired it two days later. The ceiling fan was addressed the same day it was reported, with an electrician completing the repair and the air conditioning adjusted appropriately. I replace deck umbrellas at the start of each season and had new replacements available in the garage. I dispute the claim that I knew an umbrella was about to fail or that my handyman said so. I also dispute the claim about visible caked-on dust on 10-foot-high kitchen fixtures. They would have needed a ladder to see it. Other summer guests found the home clean, well-equipped, and operating properly.

Repeat customer -- Wonderul multi-generation family gathering

Exactly what we needed for our multi-generation family gathering, and had stayed there a few years prior. May stay again in the future. Great location, beautiful, remote setting with private dock, only a few minutes from open water. Comfortably accommodated great-grandparents, infants, and everyone in between. Generally well-appointed and supplied -- just bring food and a swimsuit! Had a few maintenance items, but owner/manager Ginger was extremely responsive.

Outstanding location. Peaceful, quiet lovely view House needs to be freshened up

Loved the house and location. Beautiful view and so peaceful. Enjoyed watching the birds and crabbing from the dock. Plenty of space for our family. Pool and deck were lovely. Great seating outside and loved the grill! Only complaints- house needs painting, new sofas and new mattress in the master upstairs. Fishing Cove was neat, tidy and clean. Our family agreed that we would love to return.

I am so glad you liked the house and appreciate your honest feedback so I can replace/repair the items you reported to me. The house is scheduled for painting right after Thanksgiving. Completely new kitchen cabinets, countertops and appliances will be installed in January. The new sofa and picnic tables have arrived. I had the pool light replaced. The pool service cleans the pool weekly. Dorchester County mosquito control sprays a non toxic product weekly. Thanks again for your review.

Lovely spot for a gathering of friends!

Our book group (9 women) spent a delightful two nights at Fishing Cove House. The house easily accommodated the 9 of us with its variety of sleeping options, and enough bathrooms for minimal sharing. The house is very well equipped (new kitchen and appliances) with spaces for large and small group gatherings as well as quiet corners for individual reading. The location of the house is quiet and private, with great outdoor space with ample seating and lovely water views. All in all a very comfortable place in easy access (2 hours) from Washington DC.

With 3 married children and five grandchildren we added a second floor to Fishing Cove to accommodate all of us as well as our friends. When our family isn't using Fishing Cove we offer it to other families so they can enjoy it as much as we do!

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

We bought this house because of its PERFECT location. It is only 60 miles from Annapolis so getting there is easy, going from the hustle of city life to perfect peace in an hour's drive. It started out as a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that we enlarged and improved to fit the needs of our own large extended family. Then we decided to offer it to other large families for their vacations so they can enjoy it too!

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

We have a large house with lots of space for multi-generational family get-togethers. There's something to do for everyone.
