Very Nice Stay

We had a great stay over the holiday. Maya and her father were very welcoming, and having so much space in NYC was wonderful. Close to subway, grocery stores, etc...I would only quibble on two things: Bed on highest level (next to balcony rail) squeaked very loudly when you moved. This needs to be fixed. There wasn't any shampoo in the showers. For soap we had to use the liquid hand soap at the sink. My wife had brought some shampoo so no big deal. Overall we had a great time and would rent from them again if needed.

Hi Guest, Thank you for your review. As a reminder, since we are not a hotel, we only offer a mild hand soap and Johnson's baby shampoo/shower gel. Amenities like toothpaste and shampoo & conditioner we consider personal preferences and never have we provided them. Will see about fixing the squeak in the wooden bed in the mezzanine.

Très bel endroit où séjourner en famille ou avec des amis . Spacieux , bien aménagé , bien décoré . Un peu loin de centre de Manhattan mais Métro et Bus proches . Une super semaine de vacances !! Merci à Maya pour sa disponibilité !!

Nous avons bien apprécié la propreté et le confort des lieux. L’appartement est très lumineux. L’accès au métro est rapide. Le quartier compte plusieurs restaurants. Nous recommandons cet appartement sans hésitation!

A great stay but....

We were a group of 6 for a 7 days stay. First, we have appreciated the apartment location (very close to Central Park, metro station and bus stop), its size (really really big), its luminosity, its comfort and we have nothing to say about the cleanliness. Just a comment about bathrooms : both doors cannot be closed (lock seems to be broken), and at the beggining, we've been shut away a few minutes in the last floor bathroom, because the door handle didn't work ! I think it won't be a big spending to repair it, and it would be appreciable for customers. One of the washbasins is also blocked (last floor) But this is just details. There are 2 things that we did nont apreciate, and that's why I only give 3 stars : 1) The free wifi never worked for all the week. Maya told us that it had to be repair soon (because of the rain ??!!), but it hadn't. Free wifi is an important service in our choice of apartment, and we read on others forums that customers from previous stays had the same problem... 2) The famous "free shuttle" from airport to Harlem....is no more paid by Maya...although it is still written in advertisement !!!! We didn't pay the first shuttle from airport to Harlem (but Maya asked us if we have talked about this...) but she made us pay for the return, from Harlem to airport (we had to pay 90 $ !!!). This is not acceptable because it's written everywhere that the shuttle is free. So if it is no more free, please make an update everywhere !!!! Finally, I recommend this apartment to future customers...BUT be sure to ask for these 3 points with Maya. JS

It is unfortunate that during your stay of a week and out of the 4 times I checked in with your group and inquired about your day and how NY was treating you, never once did you or anyone in your group bring up these issues. They were brought to my attention only now through this review and have already been fixed. The week of your stay also experienced internet trouble in the area. Mine included and that too has also been addressed. To clarify and I realize this may have been due to a possible language barrier, the ONE TIME ONLY complimentary pick up and shuttle was offered earlier last year but expired at the end of December 2011. You booked with us January 9th 2012 and I still honored the one time shuttle and paid for your trip from JFK. On both listings on HomeAway and our sister listing on VRBO the changes were made then and have been clearly in effect since January 2012, Please revisit our site under the amenities if you would like. Spacious, Historic Harlem Haven

This property is the perfect antidote to the bustling city. Plenty of room to stretch out, quiet and feels like home. I’ve never been in a NYC townhome so large. Beautifully and comfortably decorated. Brick walls, great art, huge windows, loads of light, warm and inviting even in the cold winter. Equipped with everything you need.

Perfect for our Christmas stay in NYC!

Everything from the start was fantastic! Maya was on top of communications with us and answered all of our questions. The house is close to the 2/3 and the 4/5/6 to get downtown. There was a good coffee shop (with food) right around the corner. There was great natural light in the house, a big table to play games and a cozy living room to congregate. Thank you Maya! I took a great walking tour of Harlem and the entire tour was within walking distance of this house. Great location! I read previous comments about the cleanliness of the house and honestly, I thought it was just fine (and I'm a bit of a cleanliness freak). It's an old building, but maintained very well. All the important things - like the floors, showers, etc, were very clean. There were a few little things that could have been cleaned up, but nothing that would stop me from staying here again or from recommending this house. We didn't anticipate the street cleaning, so we had to move our car every day, but that's city living and it wasn't a big deal. Definitely a great find!!

Large row house apartment ideal for a family

This apartment was conveniently located in Harlem, close to Subway and train lines, supermarkets and walking distance to Central Park if you like walking. Good setup with most kitchen supplies needed for cooking. Host was easy to contact and assisted when needed. I would stay here again. (I would not book again through Homeaway as the service fee was huge for no extra assistance) Highly recommended.

Great Location and Convenient

We had a great time at Casa Tua during this difficult time for our family. We were in Harlem for a funeral. This property was big enough for people to come by and pay their respects. The decor is contemporary artsy and modern. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and utensils. A couple things you might want to take in consideration is 1) if you are traveling with older people or children there are 4 flights of stairs in the property not including the steps on the outside to get in the door 2) the beds aren’t comfortable at all, i think they could invest in better linen and better mattresses. 3) the cleanliness of the property was not that great like it hadn’t been thoroughly or deep cleaned. For example the bathroom shower had mildew on the floor and hair in the drain. But nonetheless the good definitely out weigh the bad. The property manager does stay in constant contact and she is easily able to be reached at any time. The property is decorated beautifully and in a great location. There is a playground right next door if you are traveling with kids and want to tire them out. The living room is big enough for a lot of people to come and visit you just to say hi . The kitchen was well stocked and if you need to whip up anything everything is there for you to make it except the food. Which a market is close by for your shopping pleasure. Also the little terrace upstairs allows for you to sit outside and see the stars or smoke if that’s your thing. I would definitely stay here again just for the size and location alone.

Wonderful New York Experience

This was an amazing house. Old charm meets posh accommodations. The house was beautiful from top to bottom. The location was great, a quick walk to the subway station and you’re in Manhattan. 236 door dash options and lots of neighborhood restaurants. Great little wine shop on the corner and several markets. We’d love to come back!!

We loved our stay. Property had lots of stairs so beware if anyone has mobility issues. Rooms were big and airy, lots of sunlight and we fell in love with Fati at Harlem Blues Cafe around the corner. Would definitely stay here again.

Fun Times in NYC with Greenville Girls!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the South Harlem townhouse. The location was perfect - close to subway stops, restaurants, delis and grocery store. The setup of the townhouse was perfect for us. We had 7 women in our group! There were plenty of linens, blankets and kitchen towels. Plenty of beds and 2 bathrooms. However, we only received 1 bath towel per person, so I would suggest bringing extra towels if you are staying for more than a few nights. The only negative thing we had to say about this property is that it could have been a little cleaner. The refrigerator was on the filthy side and some of the counters had quite a bit of dust. Also, the VRBO property listing states the townhouse sleeps up to 10 at $xxx/avg/night. What it does not state is that after 6 people they charge an additional $xx per night per person. Other than that, we had an awesome time in NYC.

A long weekend in NYC

Had a Great time in NYC and, if you don't mind taking a 15-20 minute subway ride into the heart of the City, this property offers plenty of space and convenience. Whole Foods is 5 blocks away and a wine shop is located at the end of the block!

This place was truly a great experience. It was great to come back after a long day, stopping by the local deli grocer for snacks, and relaxing in the living area. The place was filled with character. Nice photos of famous artists, and beautiful atmosphere. Harlem is great, and full of culture. Dont forget to drop by Lenox Coffee on 129th.

wonderful stay in Harlem

Our family stayed here for 4 days. The house is very nice and we had a relaxing break. 2/3 Train is 12min walk away from there all tourist destinations in manhattan are about 20 min away. There is a Whole foods next to the train station that made groceries straightforward. Totally recommended for young families looking to tour NY area.

Great Harlem Stay

Loved our stay. Great space for a large family. Traveled with my husband, 5 kids and our nanny. Kids loved the park next door and all the neighbors were kind and welcoming! Easy and short walk to 135th for the 2 or 3 train downtown. If you need space while visiting the city this property is perfect.
