Enjoy the Royal Coconut Coast in a 180 degree view oceanfront penthouse!

Located on the trade wind side of the Garden Isle, you’ll relax your days away in tropical sun and gentle breezes. Soak in beautiful sunrises on the lanai while sipping coffee and enjoying breakfast. With views of the mile-long sandy beach, Ke Ala Hele Makalae walking trail and Pacific Ocean, living Aloha has never been easier.

The Space

Our remodeled 1 bed, 1 bath home is located on the top floor, so you’ll enjoy more privacy in your home-away-from-home. Being in the corner of the complex also gives us breath-taking views of the Pacific Ocean. During season, you’ll also see whales breaching from the lanai!

Our home has been completely remodeled as of 07/2020. Enjoy a modern home with Hawaiian flare as you melt the days away in paradise. The fully-equipped kitchen shines with quartz countertops and backsplash and new stainless steel appliances. Traveling with other guests? The dual-sink marble vanity in the bathroom is perfect for sharing.

Pono Kai Resort’s luscious 12-acre landscaping is picture-perfect with meticulously manicured grounds and koi pond. Do you enjoy lounging on the lanai, but would like other activities as well? The resort offers plenty of amenities including shuffleboard, tennis courts, swimming pools, BBQ grills and more! Be prepared to relax in paradise while also having access to a variety of activities right outside your door.

Pono Kai Resort is also located right on the walking/bike path, Ke Ala Hele Makalae (“The Path that Goes by the Cost”). The trail leads from Nawiliwili to Anahola. You’ll find eclectic shops and wonderful eateries along this path – within walking distance from the resort!

Other things to note

Our AC system is located in the living room and cools the kitchen and living areas. There isn't an AC in the bedroom, but the ceiling fan and ocean breezes keep you nice and cool while you sleep.

The previous owners of the condo also hosted guests on VRBO with over 100 five star reviews! Those reviews were uploaded to our VRBO page.

Everything was as advertised- clean, quiet, beautiful apartment. Much better than hotel options! We had a lovely breakfast each morning if on the patio looking out at the ocean. My kids loved the facilities (pool, ping pong table, etc). Hosts were immediately responsive to all of my questions. Very happy with our stay!

Stayed 30 days & maybe 5-7 days would be ok. It's REALLY all about the VIEW! Can see ocean even when seated on sofa, or at dining table, or in kitchen cooking. The sunrises are OUTSTANDING! Were disappointed with: furniture old-dated-scuffed-stained-uncomfortable if you stay-in 5 nites/wk, only one set of sheets & had stains-holes, mattress sinks in middle had to sleep on very edge, had to buy our own wine glasses (only old plastic ones) & hangers (hosts happy to reimburse us but on site people should be on top of this), dish/kitchenware old-dated, lanai had wood table & 4 wood chairs w/ 3 thin cushions-super uncomfortable to sit-read, ancient heavy uncomfy beach chairs so had to buy our own TBahama ones, no cleaning products other than counter cleaner (for a month, would have dusted/mopped/cleaned bath; did get another sponge & trash bags from cleaners), knew from vrbo listing that we must buy our own paper towels & toilet paper but this is 1st out of MANY 30 day stays have ever had to, while portable AC in bedroom a surprise & could cool room before sleep, it couldn't be on all night cuz must empty water bucket every few hours. In a few words, it's a very basic unit with an amazing view. What did we like? the VIEW!, clean, convenient location, prox to beach walk, power outlets by bed, bed bug protectors on mattress/pillows, responsive hosts. Just not best for long stay & is pretty basic in finishes. 1st time we were ever happy to go home from a vrbo for lack of comfort.

Clean condo with a great view

This is a great one bedroom, one bathroom condo with a great view. Check in is easy at the front office/desk. It’s on the third floor with the options of stairs or an elevator to get to it. The photos provided on the listing are a few years old, but are largely accurate. There’s A/C in the living room and a second one in the bedroom. The A/C in the bedroom is a portable and will require your attention to prevent water from overflowing onto the floor. We used the pool/hot tub on property with no issues. There are also laundry facilities (two washers and two dryers) for each building. They cost 1.50 for each use and require quarters. There’s a change machine near the front office. We love Kaua’i and Kapa’a is a more central location if you want to visit the north and south sides of the island. Because of this, there is increased vehicle traffic for most of the day, but have patience and drive friendly.

Best Pono Kai View

This unit has the best views at the resort and is well maintained. The location is excellent, with restaurants and stores in walking distance. Parking is also plentiful. The host is responsive. Highly recommended.

Perfect Location!!!

Fantastic location. Place was clean and had nearly everything we needed! View was incredible and the resort had a lot of fun activities for us (pool, golf putting, horse shoes, etc) Having air conditioning was great! Walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Will be back in the future! Highly recommend!

Concerns

First the view is fabulousl! But the bedroom - there are issues,there: first the a/c unit. The water from the unit empties from a hose into a plastic bucket. We were lucky to return on Sunday early and the fluid was just starting to drip onto the floors we got the bucket empty or it could have been a lot worse. Second, it is a small room into which is a placed a king sized bed. On my husbands side he could barely get out.

Perfect location

Great stay at this property, location is perfect, sleeping to the sound of the waves with shops and restaurants just around the corner. The coastal path is also great for long walks. The unit was very clean and spacious. AC throughout, basic amenities provided sufficient for a 4 night stay. Was a great base to discover both north sand south shores

Great location!

Loved the location. Lots of stores and places to eat within walking distance. The view was amazing! Unfortunately the beach isn’t super swimmable (pretty rough), but still nice to walk and play in the surf a bit. The pool, albeit not fancy, our 6yo thoroughly enjoyed. Feeding the fish in the morning was also a highlight for her.

Perfect Spot on the Beach

The location and setup of the condo was exactly as described. I was hoping for a location not just with a view of the ocean, but on the beachfront, and this condo has just that. Third floor means a better view overall, and walk down the stairs, and you are steps away from sand and a very quiet beach. This beach isn't necessarily popular for swimming, so it doesn't have any kind of crowds. Perfect for watching the waves and relaxing. Our hosts were communicative and helpful. The condo was just as described, clean, and ready for us when we arrived.

Very nice condo in great location!

Great location for a stay in Kauai. The condo is arguably the best location in the complex with maximum privacy! Very clean and nicely furnished. Many restaurants/shops/markets within walking distance or very short drive.

Loved hearing the waves!

Can’t beat this oceanfront location. Took the provided chairs and umbrella to the beach. Easy walk to awesome bakery/coffee spots, grocery & dinner options from cool food trucks! Centrally located to explore the East side.
