One of the absolute best locations on The Eagle River Chain on Catfish Lake. Two miles to grocery store, restaurants, bike trail, snowmobile trail, yet the property has close to 900 feet of private lake frontage. WiFI, direct TV, central air conditioning and modern amenities. Old Northwood vintage with all the updates. This property has it all! Ideal for families!

Our stay at Catfish Pointe was nothing short of magical. The property offers breathtaking views that made every morning feel like a dream. Nestled in a serene setting, it felt wonderfully private and peaceful, yet we were just minutes from town—truly the best of both worlds.The home itself was spotless, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Whether we were relaxing on the porch, dock or enjoying the scenery, or exploring nearby attractions, every moment was memorable.A special shoutout to the host, who was exceptionally responsive and attentive to our needs. Great spot for a family trip! Our family really enjoyed this home! It was our family of 5 as well as 4 of my kids friends. The home and cottage slept everyone really well. The beds were very comfortable. The dock is great; we spent a lot of time hanging out just enjoying the view. Boathouse was also a nice benefit! Appreciated being able to use their tubes and fishing poles and kept a few drinks in the fridge. Made everything very convenient!Really appreciated the well stocked firewood & place for s'mores! Great location to Eagle River. Molly is a wonderful host!

This is a fantastic lot with a large yard and sandy beach. The spacious home and bunkhouse were perfect for our group. We will be back!

Very enjoyable, relaxing family vacation with top notch location. While house is a bit rustic to some, it has all the essentials needed and perfect for 12 people. Would return in a heartbeat!

Gorgeous location

What a spectacular setting!!! The property is gorgeous with many different spots to enjoy the view-the patio, lawn, dock and fire pit are wonderful. The peace and quiet at the end of a beautiful tree-lined street is just what we needed!!! I highly recommend this property.

Great family vacation spot

We had a great week! Beach area is great for little kids. Property was clean. While somethings are older on the property, the house had character and everything was functional. Kids were asking when we would be back before we even left! Great location too- private but close to groceries etc.

Great property

Fantastic lake front with lots of privacy. After boating all week, we soon realized this property is on the quieter end of the Eagle River chain of lakes, which was exactly what we had hoped. The owners were great and very responsive. They handled all of our requests in a timely manner. There were parts of the the house nicely updated and other parts that held an older charm. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend this property.

Location, Location, Location

What a beautiful piece of property! If you’re looking for privacy this is your location. Great views and shoreline with a sandy area where the grandchildren played for hours. Enjoyed the kayaks that we provided. Even had an evening ping pong tournament in the bunkhouse. During our stay there were 8 adults and 3 children (6 & under) and there was more than enough room for everyone. We made many new family memories, looking to rent again. Oh and the hosts Molly and her husband were fantastic!

Perfect Location!

My husband, parents, and two sons (9 and 11) spent a wonderful week at this beautiful property. We rented a boat from a nearby business and had a blast! Catfish Lake is large and fun for watersports, as there is not a huge amount of traffic on the lake. There are a few places to dock at and grab a drink or lunch, but busier Duck Lake is just a short ride away. The house has everything you could possibly need. The lake is great for fishing (by boat or just off the dock). There is a large grocery store 5 minutes away, as well as good shopping. We highly recommend this house!

Northwoods Heaven

This was our 13th summer in Vilas county, but our first time on the chain, and we LOVED it! Catfish Pointe was the perfect location, on the quiet end of one of the quietest lakes on the chain — while we enjoyed Northwoods tranquility (an Eagle was perched on a chair by the lake when we arrived; loons called morning & evening; a 10-point Buck walked thru the yard on our last evening), all the fun & crazy of the chain was only a short boat ride away. We spent part of every day fishing & the variety was great, and we barely touched part of Catfish & Cranberry lakes. The property is amazing, situated on a lovely east-facing point with no visible neighbors, and the house and furnishings were perfect for our family, and the level frontage allowed my husband, who has Parkinson’s, to go out on the back veranda every day & even get down to the lake for a last night camp bath. The owner, Molly, was great to work with, answering all our questions quickly, providing great tips for being on the chain, and providing everything we asked for, which is all we could have asked for! We reserved for next summer before we checked out & can’t wait to go back! Thanks for everything, Catfish Pointe!!

Even better than expected

While the photos of the property are accurate, I was still very impressed by the actual property. There was more shoreline and lawn space than expected. There were trees on both ends of the property affording wonderful privacy. The house and boat house provided everything we could have needed. We just needed more time to take advantage of all there was to offer. (We meant to try shuffleboard, but never got around to it.) The bunkhouse also offered a great space for young adults to play games well into the wee hours, without disturbing anyone else. The main house was loaded with interesting artifacts, which often generated discussions about what it was, or how it was used. However, all practical conveniences were provided as well. We took advantage of the extra beverage refrigerator as well as the boat house refrigerator and the bunkhouse refrigerator. Folks were available to provide an orientation to the property, as well as address any issues that might come up. Communication was excellent. We rented a fishing boat and a pontoon boat. Our initial reservation was lost, so we were scrambling to find a boat at short notice. While we were successful in finding something, it would have been better to get our boat from Boat Sport, so that we wouldn’t have had to deal with launching and transportation of the boat. The property and location were great. We plan to rent there again.

Just Wow

We have rented many lake and ocean houses - on the Chain in Eagle River, in the UP, on the Great Lakes, the Gulf Of Mexico, and the Finger Lakes in New York State. This one is extraordinary. The property itself is nearly three acres - you share a peninsula with another house that you can't see, so the privacy and open space to run around is really substantial. The boat dock sits at the very tip of the peninsula, so when you are on it, you are nearly surrounded by water - it's quite amazing. You can do everything here - great sandy bottom and dock ladder for swimming; we managed to get two boats on the dock and a small one in the boathouse. Shuffleboard, ping pong in the bunk house, fishing. (A LOT of fishing boats fish in front of the house - they must know something.) The dogs and the kids loved the space. I loved the seclusion, but it's not even five minutes to town - terrific location. We met the owners only at check-in, which was fine. They were responsive to our one need, when the wifi went down. Be warned that the download speeds (at least in our experience) may not be as fast as you are used to, as the Internet is DSL, not cable-based and the alternative - a cellular "puck" slowed after heavy. I used my cellular when I needed faster service for business, as I did have to work a couple of hours most mornings. Most trips, I would not have been working and would not have noticed. We loved the house, which is pretty vintage with some updates from the owners. We loved sitting in the wood paneled three-seasons room, to take in the cool morning and evening breezes. Be aware that some of the fixtures, like doors and bathrooms, are original and come with their own quirks. That was charming and expected to us, but a few may have more modern expectations. All in all, this is a spectacular place, and we hope to have the opportunity to come back here.

Great Northwoods Family Vacation Spot

Our family had a great stay at this properly, and will definitely try to rent here again in the future. Everything about the backyard was perfect and the location can't be beat. Great flat lawn for family yard games, 3 grills, comfortable chairs on the patio and around the campfire and dock. Sipped coffee every morning on the back patio and dock watching the sun come up. Fished off the dock and caught several walleye. Lake was very quiet with easy access to the chain of lakes, and we rode our pontoon to several local bars and restaurants. Sleeps 12 comfortably including 4 in the bunk house. Molly (the home owner) provided us with a great tour upon check-in and was very responsive to anything that came up throughout the week.

Eagle River Vacation

We stayed at this property for two weeks. Should have booked three! The house was roomy and had plenty of sleeping areas. I don’t think you could find a place with as much room on the grounds. The was plenty of space for the little ones to run around outside, and more than enough equipment that was provided to kayak, fish, play in the water, or just sit around on the pier. Great fire pit to use to end each day. My family and I would return in a second.

Catfish frontage at it's best!

Wonderful shoreline! If you want privacy this is your place. Rainy week, but many good days. The camp across the water is no big deal at all and you really never notice it. We have been staying on Catfish for years and this is a great lake and location. Many cooking options including a Blackstone, Charcoal, and Gas Grill. Wood buring fireplace inside is a plus. Molly was great to work with!

Perfect for large group

We just returned from a week at this beautiful property. There was so much room for our group of 11 to spread out inside and out. The yard is large with room for cornhole, lawn jarts, and soccer all at the same time, and has a shuffleboard area too. Beach is great to walk right in for a swim, or jump off the dock. The house had plenty of room to spread out and relax, and kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need. The bunk house was a perfect private area for the teen girls to take over, and the family could enjoy the living area in there and ping pong table. There was a refrigerator in the main house, bunk house and boat house, so plenty of room to hold all of our food an beverages for the week. The lake is wonderful, and we could boat to restaurants and bars, and go from lake to lake in the pontoon that we rented. The kids enjoyed the kayaks the property had also. Nothing but good things to say about Molly the owner. She checked in with us multiple times during the week to see if there was anything we needed, and provided recommendations on places to eat and boat to. And the one time that we requested something from her, her response was immediate, and items provided in a very timely manner. Hoping to be able to return again!

Could have been better

While the location was nice - its right across from Camp Ojibwa and you could hear PA all day - camp ski boat was out most afternoons right in front or the house with a huge multi rider tube that drove around in circles most of the afternoon - extremely noisy. Seems like house has not been updated since the 1950's, hard to get hot water in showers which were not very clean. Outdoor barbeque had not been cleaned and we had to clean out fire pit ourselves before using. Most of house does not have AC. Quite a bit of goose poop over large lot. Seems like this could be a great VRBO but owners need to both clean, do a better job maintaining and make upgrades

It's been a very busy summer on the lakes and wonderful lake weather- the week you were here was parents weekend at most camps and people including campers were so excited to be together enjoying lake activities. The camp is across the lake with an island in between- not very visible from our property- which we pride ourself with lots of privacy. The house is vintage but we have made a lot of updates to it including two new water heaters- last summer- we have plenty of hot water but the system needs time to catch up if multiple people take showers at the same time or one after the other. We have a very professional cleaning company that cleans every Saturday and I personally walked you through the house when you arrived and it was extremely clean. The geese can be annoying but also a part of lake life- we had a lawn service mow and blow the entire yard the day of your arrival- which we do every week. We have air conditioning units in numerous rooms and bedrooms a long with multiple fans.

Fantastic Property!

We've stayed at a number of Eagle River properties over the years and this, by far, is the very best. The property pictures do not do it justice. The location on the chain, the property itself, and the amenities were all great! The property owners were very gracious and accommodating from beginning to end. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great Northwoods experience.

Fantastic property!

This beautiful spot on Catfish Lake was the perfect retreat for our family. The pictures do not do it justice. The property includes the cottage, a bunkhouse and a boathouse. Molly met us at check in and was incredibly helpful and easy to communicate with during our entire stay. The location is very convenient for trips to town, etc... Being on “the Chain” of lakes is priceless. We had 3 people working/ schooling online throughout our stay and while the internet connection was not perfect, it worked the majority of the time. You definitely get the Up North feel/experience at this cottage! Much of the interior is original and the owners have added some modern updates, including a fabulous Viking double oven range. It was so wonderful to sit by the lake and enjoy the peaceful mornings, afternoons and evenings! We had fabulous weather, the fall colors put on a gorgeous show around the lake and the sunsets were spectacular. Thank you for sharing this exceptional property, Molly!

Great getaway

We were three generations - grandparents, parents, and 2 children (3 and 8). Everyone had a great time. The property had a little of everything; * Sandy beach (good for swimming and great for 3 year old digging) * Dock (with fishing rods), * Three Kayaks, * Grassy yard (with shuffleboard court which go lots of use by all ages), * Fire pit (with lots of wood) plus marshmallow roasting forks. * Wooded areas (which the kids enjoyed exploring) * Views - great sun rises * Comfortable, spacious house (we didn’t use the additional bunkhouse - which had a ping-pong table, LOTS of books, and 4 bunk beds) The owner was easy to reach, very friendly, and took care of all things promptly. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely consider returning another year.

The Best Time

We had the best time at this awesome clean property. If you are looking for a fantastic property to get away from the stress of the everyday life this is the place. The property was unbelievably quiet and relaxing. We especially enjoyed our morning coffee on this the sunny property, leading gently into Catfish lake. The dock was perfect for our boat and we enjoyed barbecuing on the waterfront and management was fabulous. We highly recommend this property and look forward to booking next year.

The property itself is absolutely amazing, the house is very old

The property itself is amazing: the best lake, beach, privacy, location I had in many many years. The house is big and clean and partially remodeled, but very old: outdated bathroom fixtures with issues, running out of hot water often, the heater in the bunk house had to be replaced during our stay. Doors get out of alignment depending on the temperature, so trying to close a bedroom door at night wakes up the entire house. Bathroom door sometimes doesn't lock, etc. Kitchen has some extraordinary items, like Wolf range, but is missing some small necessities like dish rack. Overall, the owner was very friendly and helpful and our stay was very enjoyable in spite of small inconveniences. For the price of the rental though, I would expect no such inconveniences, so I knocked off one star.
