First of all the view could not have been better. the Staff were excellent but the repair of the Casa leaves a bit to be desired. There were too few lights in the Kitchen area and what there were not adequate. The pots and pans were plenty but there was not a knife that you could cut your finger on.the gas BBQ is just a shell of a bbq that you have to use charcoal in. We had one guest in the upstairs bedroom whos bed got rained on when it rained and had to move downstairs.its obvious the owner wants to sell and not fix anything on the property.i would not say i would not go back if a few things were repaired, after all we had an excellent experience with Leo the cook and the cleaning staff.

Spacious house with friendly staff.

The villa was nice and spacious and plenty of room for three couples. The villa is dated as some other reviews have said, but that didn't detract from us enjoying our time there.

View from the Villa is definitely the best in Puerto Vallarta. We saw whales every AM and PM. At least 3 different locations of fireworks every PM. The Villa sold during our stay. We hope the next owner does some much needed updating, as we hope to book this Villa again.Thanks for a wonderful 30 day vacation.

BEST VIEW IN P.V.

The place was just about perfect for my family of six over a ten night period. Yes, as previous reviews have noted, the place could use a facelift BUT it is clean, spacious, strategically located, full of character and.....the view alone is worth the exceedingly reasonable price of admission. We will definitely be back!

We loved it!

We stayed here as a group of 5 friends and it was fantastic. Highly recommend. We didn’t really cook at all so can’t say much about the kitchen but the bedrooms and common spaces were stellar with great views and bathrooms. We are already planning on our next trip to come back. Also having Isabel there was amazing and I loved coming home to clean bed sheets and an organized bathroom every day.

Annual family vacation.

This property will give you the best view of Beautiful Puerto Vallarta. You can walk to all of the wonderful spots in just minuets. Isabel cleans and changes bedding daily. Leo and her son will make food so good that you will not want to eat out. I cannot say enough good things about Leo’s food. She will make anything you want but I suggest you ask for cultural food! The only con I have is about the beds. They are very stiff making it hard to recharge after miles of walking in the city.

Character-filled villa with unbeatable views of PV.

Incredible stay for a group of 9 people at Mar Y Cielo. The property is sprawling, open and expansive. It is full of character and Mexican flare and there's plenty of space for large groups. The views from the main floor, pool deck and upstairs bedroom are incredible (photos do not do it justice) . We had 3 meals prepared by the chefs and all were delicious and fresh. There are some improvements to the property that would make for an even better stay: (1) update to the electrical and lighting - some rooms and areas are quite dark as some lights are broken; better use of the lobby area - perhaps as a small gym room; upgrades to the hot water system - showers often ran cold; more house keys or a keyless entry system - sharing a single key between a big group was challenging to manage. All in all though, a brilliant location and highly recommended.

Disappointed

Pool was ice cold and hard to even get in. Kitchen facilities are in major need of upgrading and furniture is in desperate need of repairs. Bedding was ok at best. Cooking and cleaning staff was wonderful and made us feel at home. All meals were excellent. Main locking doors are a pain to use with 3 locks to open to get in or out of the villa.

Stunning

Although the photos of the property are accurate, they really don't capture the feeling you get when you walk in. The house is spectacular. Each room is unique with its own character and charm. The open-air living area was incredible. Eduardo and Alejandra made us the yummiest meals and were both so sweet and fun to talk to. Eduardo was helpful with local recommendations for us first-timers. Isabel was incredible. Swept and mopped each day. She kept the house spotless! We weren't sure how we'd feel about having "staff", but I'm sold! Sign me up! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful view

The layout of the main floor was great as was the view. The pool was great. The furniture by the main fireplace smelled of cat urine. There was bird and rodent feces on top of oven structure in the kitchen (was a lot of poop). I was told there were ceiling fans in all of the bedrooms, most had no ceiling fans at all. The housekeeper did an excellent job cleaning. Overall the home was very dated and we expectef more considering how much we paid.

Abby's 30th Birthday Celebration

We loved the property. The stairs are a challenge, if you are not used to stairs - but you're going to have a difficult time navigating the city, if you can't handle the stairs in this place! The cook and housekeeper were great! The house was cleaned every day, and the cook goes out of his way to make sure that you are getting the traditional foods that everyone should have while in Mexico! The one improvement that could be made is the hot water for the shower at the top of the house. The person that stayed up there did not have hot water for the whole trip, but they improvised and were okay with that as a trade off from the beauty of the surroundings.

Absolutely Stunning

Our stay was incredible. The pictures truly do not do this space justice!! I mean that. I was travelling with a group of friends and the villa was perfect for our purposes. Everyone could have their own space but come together as we wanted to. The view is unparalleled. The villa has so much character and it’s just far enough out of the busy Zona Romantica to be out of the hubbub but close enough to get there by foot no problem. Isabel the housekeeper was so sweet. I loved it and am thinking of a new reason to come back and visit. Some things to consider are: there are a lot of stairs and it’s located on a hill. So if those factors impact you they are a defining feature of the villa. As well, the church bells are a presence so if you’re a light sleeper maybe bring some ear plugs! Otherwise I highly recommend this villa.

We were BURGLARIZED!! Pictures are deceitful!!! Don't do it!!!

The description is very misleading. The address is different from the actual address. There is no air conditioning, which is not listed in the description. The home is too accessible. Pool guy has a key, housekeeper and the cooks! Burglary was totally an inside job. The lock was still in tact. Jerry the owner was of NO help and didn't offer any assistance. He didn't respond to any communication after this happened. We were told we weren't the first. There were several negative reviews posted. However, they were deleted!

Beautiful views! Wonderful staff!

This is an incredible location. Within walking distance of downtown Puerto Vallarta. It is not for the weak though. The uphill is quite steep. I wouldn't want to rent a car here. The streets are very narrow. We were able to get taxis quite easily to the Port. Eduardo arranged a private boat tour for our group. The home is in bad need of repair. A door fell off the hinges and a chair had already been repaired many times. The owner could put a little more into this property for it's maintenance and it would be perfect. The staff keeps the place well cleaned and the meals are to die for! The cook is amazing. We let her surprise us each meal with authentic Mexican dishes. It truly made our vacation! I wouldn't feel comfortable having very young children here as the fence on the veranda is rickety and it is quite high. The streets are not at all stroller friendly. It was great for my family though of 6 children 20-years-old to 7 and some very hip Grandparents.

Million dollar view

The villa is amazing... vaulted ceilings, huge spaces to roam, and great traditional Mexican architecture. This is not a 'Hilton' type accommodation... it is open air and charming and anyone who wants fancy and AC should likely look elsewhere. The outdoor pool is unheated but is the perfect temperature to cool off. Our group spent lots of time sitting around the pool relaxing! Even with hot temps, the interior spaces stayed cool with beautiful onshore breezes. Our group of 8 adults [ 28-60 ] all agreed that they would book the place again anytime! Observations: ** The villa is not suited for anyone with mobility issues. Lots [ and I mean lots ] of stairs within the home. ** Location is amazing and provides a stunning view of the entire bay. It is quite the trek up stairways/roads to walk to the house... like, a serious workout! Our group walked back and forth multiple times per day... but it was challenging. Uber can pick you up and drop you off at the door... which is highly recommended. ** The building is old and is showing the years, but the interior spaces are kept very clean.

Family vacation place for fit people

Here’s my honest assessment. 3 families stayed together here, 11 people altogether. The villa has a fantastic million dollar view! It’s located just above Hacienda de Angel so we also got the added bonus of listening to their listen music every evening. The pool was fine. Our teenaged kids aged great fun playing in the pool. The best parts also included our housekeeper, Isabel and Eduardo and his mom Leo who cooked breakfast and dinner on occasion. Honestly, they should be charging more for their outstanding service so we tipped them well. If there’s anyone on your group with issues walking up large steep flights of stairs, this place is not for you! You gotta work a little to get this view! One person in our group slipped on one of the spiral staircases and badly bruised herself. I very much enjoyed the Mexican open air style of the villa as well. I would recommend this place and come again in an instant if the owner invested in nice bedding and refreshed sone of the furniture and kitchen wares. it’s confusing to me why some of these simple details that would really elevate the experience are so neglected.

“Puerto Vallarta: Mixed Experience, Saved by Exceptional Staff and Cuisine”

Our stay in Puerto Vallarta was a letdown, though it was salvaged by the incredible staff. Eduardo, the house manager, Leo, the cook, and Isobel, the cleaner, were absolutely fantastic. Their professionalism and kindness made a difficult stay much more manageable, with Leo’s meals being some of the best we’ve ever had, even in challenging conditions.The property itself, however, was a disappointment. The open-air concept was pleasant during the day, but at night, the inability to keep wildlife and noise out was problematic—raccoons were frequent visitors, and many doors didn’t latch properly. The furnishings were outdated, and the property lacked basic comforts like air conditioning in the bedrooms, an iron, or a hairdryer. The beds were uncomfortably hard, and there wasn’t a good space to relax after a day in the sun.The pool was unheated and on the cooler side, and the furniture around it was rickety and broken. While the property is advertised as having five bedrooms, only three were functional; the other two were nearly unusable.Communication with Jerry, the owner, was adequate but uninspired. He didn’t seem particularly invested in the quality of the guest experience.While the staff was exceptional and truly saved the trip, I can’t recommend this property without significant updates. It has potential, but it falls far short of expectations in its current state.

Amazing Villa

My family and I (total of 6) stayed at this location for 5 nights Nov 21-26 with temperatures in the mid-80’s, and very humid. The villa is beautiful, three stories (plenty of stairs) with a loft overlooking El Centro, and magnificent view of the city and the water. The pool is so relaxing! The house is open to the elements which took some getting used to as geckos can easily enter the house through open vents and windows. There was a total of five bedrooms and six bathrooms, each with their own charm and charisma. Most rooms had ceiling fans but no A/C. I would recommend adding A/C to the first-floor bedroom. The ceiling fan was too high to cool down the room. The housekeeper (Isabel) is available except on Sundays. Isabel did an amazing job cleaning rooms. Tips are appreciated! A cook is also available. Meals are an additional charge, $25 for breakfast, $40 for breakfast and dinner. You pay for the food upfront so that the cook can buy the food you request. We took advantage of the services for breakfast, and dinner for our last evening of our stay. Ms. Leo (Leonora) and her son David provide amazing meals! Her breakfast is amazing! For our dinner, she made chicken mole (moe-le) from scratch. Delicious!!! Tips are appreciated. David also has the hook-up on excursions and places to eat! He was kind enough to set up our Sunday afternoon excursion. Walking distance to shopping/food/drink! Perfect place for a large family. We'd stay again!

This is a beautiful home located minutes from the historic center of puerto Vallarta. The house is beautiful, with views of the ocean in every room. However, our experience working with VRBO and this owner was terrible and I will not plan to use VRBO again. The house has a capacity to sleep 11 people, with another "casita" across the pool deck that sleeps an additional three for a total of 14 people maximum. Several days before our trip, we needed to add one additional person, for a total of 9 guests, for the nights we had already planned to stay. The owner lied about the capacity of the house, saying that it would only sleep 8, and asked me to pay a price that was three times what we had originally agreed to. When I spoke with VRBO about the capacity and rate, they told me that the owners are in their rights to change rates whenever they want to and that this was allowed. The owner ended up calling the house during our stay and verbally abusing the guest who answered the phone and saying that we were trying to cheat him, which was not the case. Although the house was beautiful, in a perfect location, and with excellent staff, I would not recommend working with this owner or platform.
