Unique, tiny cottage, set back in a quiet, residential neighborhood only 2 mins from I-380 & downtown. Remodeled late 2020 w/ an updated, but cozy feel.

Restored, original wood floors from 1929 throughout, as well as the exposed chimney and cupboards in the kitchen. Your loaded kitchen also features butcher block counters, stainless steel appliances, tile backsplash, open shelving, Keurig, traditional coffee pot, toaster oven, and anything else you might need to make a meal for yourself while you enjoy your stay.

The remodeled bathroom & laundry room features ceramic tile floors & a bluetooth fan with speakers to hook your music up to as you enjoy your time to yourself getting ready for whatever your day might bring. Not only do you have your own, private W/D in the laundry room, but be sure to check out the shelves full of approximately 30 different board games, puzzles, and decks of cards to entertain yourselves on your nights in.

In the bedroom, there is a sitting area to relax and watch your favorite program on the Firetv/smart tv, so bring your passwords for your favorite streaming apps! The most popular apps used on this tv include Netflix, Disney +, and Hulu, but there are many more to choose from. Like gaming? Bring your system to continue those games while staying with us. For your convenience, the tv is able to pivot toward the sitting area in the bedroom, as well as the bed to enable you to see the screen with no problem anywhere in the room. Get a good night’s sleep on our brand-new, queen size Leesa bed, a made-in-the-USA product.

Our cozy cottage features its own driveway (to be paved in the Spring), additional street parking (non-metered), & a is a short uber to C.R.’s best hot spots, inc. Czech Village, NewBo and the downtown area.

The cozy cottage met our needs perfectly for our stay. The host even provided shopping around the area prior to our arrival. The water pressure is excellent in the shower and its a quiet area at night. The host is easy to contact and has a quick response time with any questions you may have.

Great little place that is well equipped for a wonderful stay - including a wide selection of board games. The property manager is awesome and responds to messages promptly. Neighborhood is quiet and the property has a great yard and garden.

Cozy cottage was the perfect location. The Czech village and the Newbo market were so cool. The owner had a great selection of visitors materials and town history. We learned about the 2020 derecho and 2008 flood. We chose to go to the Kernels game based on what we read— and loved it. If you have a long stay you’ll enjoy the washer and dryer, but I missed having a place to unpack. There was no drawer or empty shelf available.

Love this cozy cottage!

This is the second time I have stayed at this property! Its the perfect, cozy place to stay while I visit CR! The bed is comfy, the house is clean and stocked with about everything you could need, the water pressure is great, and Krystal is very friendly and communicative! I will definitely book again if I can!

Cozy little cottage that is close to the interstate

This little cottage is absolutely adorable. My husband and I needed a place to stay overnight while relocating from Tennessee to Minnesota and this cozy home gave us a night of much needed rest. We will definitely be staying here again when we travel home for the holidays!

Weekend Away

We stayed for a weekend for our anniversary and to go to a CR Kernels game. The place is homey and inviting and perfect for a short stay close to the baseball field and hockey arena. Many details and accommodations thought of for any traveler. Short drive to I 380.

Hi! I'm Krystal and I've just started this VRBO journey as a private host! I love traveling and staying in short-term rentals instead of hotels, including when I go "home" to Seattle for a few weeks in the summer to show my kids where I'm from and see family. During the day, I'm a teacher and HS cheer and dance coach. "For fun," my husband and I started to purchase and remodel properties in Cedar Rapids that still had character to save, then renting them out to my former athletes and friends. That being said, I'm also a landlord. Most importantly, I'm a wife and mom to 2 crazy kids. During the school year, my daughter and I spend our time at HS sporting events and her gymnastics competitions and in the summer, we are active on the Five Seasons Ski Team (a nationally-competitive, show-ski waterski team). My younger boy likes to game and isn't into the active activities my teen girl and I are into. :)

We keep our eyes open for cute houses to remodel to rent and when this little cottage hit the market, we knew we had to see it. The poor thing needed some love, but we could see the potential quickly. It was in a great, quiet neighborhood full of neighbors who have lived here for decades and wanted to see someone bring it back to life, while still being 2 minutes away from an interstate exit - the location was so perfect! I was ready to make this little girl my baby and my husband (luckily) gave me the thumbs-up. Next thing we knew, it was ours. When restoring and decorating, I wanted to keep in mind all the neat things I've seen in short-term rentals, as well as including other things that I imagined would be nice to have during a stay. The word in my head as I planned to open up for visitors was "relaxing," while having all of the benefits of a home, full kitchen, and 2021 technology. While you stay in our cottage, we want you to feel these same things that I envisioned, while being a part of a Cedar Rapids neighborhood, forgoing the typical hotel experience. I love feedback on anything that you think would be helpful, including new, must-read books, helpful kitchen tools, fun board games, etc. We're always striving to make each visit better than the last!

Staying in our cottage means that you are part of a neighborhood who has loved to see the turn-around of this little cottage that sat for years while an owner lived out-of-state. While coming and going, you may encounter a friendly neighbor walking by, people walking dogs, kids walking to the nearby middle and elementary school, hear a dog park down the road, while enjoying the quiet when inside the cottage. You won't be experiencing the stuffy hotel check-in, hearing people in the next rooms or people loudly walking down a hall, etc. However, if you like the benefit of a hotel suite, we have all of that and more. A fully-stocked kitchen and laundry room awaits you, complete with all of the laundry supplies you may need while staying with us. No need to pay with quarters in a hotel laundry room, having to constantly check back to see if your laundry is done and no one is waiting to use the machines. Start a load and night and leave it 'til morning - it's up to you! Want to crank up the music on our bluetooth bathroom fan while you're showering? Do it! Our closest neighbor isn't that close, so enjoy. Staying up, having a few drinks, and enjoying a board game together? No need to whisper because people might be sleeping next door. Enjoy yourself while you stay with no worries and make yourself at home.
