This is a great place to stay. The 2 porches, one enclosed and one screened, right on the canal were my favorite spots. The house is clean and very well appointed. I lived on this island for 10 years and know the struggles from weather(hurricanes), trying to keep places together and repaired. This owner has done an excellent job. Would always consider staying here again on our future trips to see old friends.

Great Waterfront Views

The property is located in a quaint fishing and boating village. The patio and enclosed back room offered fantastic views of the back bay. We had no issues at all during our stay. Would Highly Recommend!!
My dad 91 years old and on his last offshore fishing adventure. He loved where we stayed.

Peaceful, Serene and Scenic

My wife and I really enjoyed our stat at Sunset Retreat! I mean, how can you go wrong being right on the canal and can view manatee and dolphin literally out your back window! Such quiet and beautiful setting with calm water and quiet neighbors. The house has a nice dock to put in a boat, or in my case a kayak right into Matlacha Pass and it turned out to be a great place to easily explore the mangrove islands and sandbars. It's also within easy walking distance from the cool shops and nearby restaurants.Miguel and Elvia are super nice and responsive hosts and were just a text away from answering any and all questions we had. Sadly, lightning had knocked out the air conditioners in both bedrooms and parts were needed that didn't arrive before our stay ended. We were able to sleep on the sun porch and couch so it was definitely doable. The hosts kept us informed of the status of the repairs and graciously awarded us a partial refund for our discomfort. About the only thing we didn't understand was the need for guests to launder the towels when a cleaning fee is also charged. But we did so and consider our stay a real favorite vacation because of the accommodations and location! We definitely hope to return to Sunset Retreat!

Beautiful waterfront sunset location!

Very clean. Plenty of room, we were three adults with plenty of space. Great indoor patio and outside patio facing the water. Highly recommend.

This was our second stay at Sunset Retreat . We brought our kayaks and were able to drop them in the water directly behind the house . The house has plenty of room, great amenities and peaceful location . Well equip kitchen and love the upgrades since last visit . So glad to see this beautiful little town recovering. Owners very responsive.

Christmas Holiday in Matlacha

This home was great! Everything is new and well appointed. The location and views are outstanding. The sunsets over open water behind the house. Walking distance to Blue Dog and quirky shops. Highly recommend this property!

Great Christmas stay

We had an unexpected illness hit the family we had planned to stay with so we had to book last minute and Mike was amazing with communication from the get go. He also set out some holiday decor and treats for us. The mini tree was perfect for us to set up our gifts underneath for the kids. The house is so nice with an open layout, plenty of space and amazing view. We loved walking to the nearby shops and restaurant as well as through the neighborhood to check out the Christmas lights. All the neighbors were so friendly. We ended up having my dad over for christmas eve dinner and the kitchen space was large enough and stocked with all we needed for cooking/serving. Would highly recommend this rental and would book it again!
