North View Cabins #2 - Cozy 2Bed/1Ba Cabin with Private Deck on the Lake!

Welcome to North View Cabins on Houghton Lake! We have 3 cabins onsite; you can rent one or rent all 3 to accommodate your group.

This is Cabin 2, where you can experience convenient waterfront access ...at an affordable price. This cabin features 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, accommodating up to 5 guests.

Outside...Walk a few steps to reach the lake shore and dock. Cabin 2 features a private deck by the lake equipped with a cooler, chairs, and a table (available from Memorial weekend to Labor Day weekend). The swimming area has a sandy bottom, and your stay includes the use of paddle boards, kayaks, floats, a raft, and water toys. Cabin 2 has its own picnic table and small deck with a BBQ grill and chairs. It also has its own fire pit and complimentary firewood. Overnight mooring/anchoring available. Docks are available mid-May to mid-Oct. Onsite parking can accommodate up to one small trailer and 1-2 vehicles; additional offsite trailer parking is available for larger trailers.

Inside the cabin...The property features a living room with a large television and a fully furnished kitchen and dinette. Enjoy your morning coffee in the sunroom, where you can open all the windows to let in the cool breeze from the lake. The bathroom has a stand-up shower. The first bedroom has a queen bed and a TV, while the second bedroom has two twin "trundle" beds and a TV. A single foldaway bed is available for the sunroom. Amenities include WiFi, board games, all linens (excluding beach towels), and starter coffee supplies.

In the area...The trailhead is located approximately 2.2 miles away, and you can legally drive your toys there. You can easily walk to grocery stores, bars, diners, and shops. Additionally, the DNR boat launch is close by, along with parks, beaches, golf courses, and historical landmarks.

As required by Vrbo policy, this is a camera location disclosure. There are three (3) exterior cameras to monitor lawn parking areas (on the southwest corner of cabin 1, in the tree in front of cabin 1, and on the east side of cabin 3) and one exterior camera on the back of Cabin 3 to monitor the dock area on water.

If the outdoor temperature is in single digits, leave the faucets on a drip from both hot/cold sides to prevent pipes from freezing. Turn off lights. Close and lock all exterior doors and windows.

Communicaton with Sarah from the get go was spot on from check in to check out. Cottage #2, from the moment we walked in, was everything we expected. Everything inside that you need for a flawless vacation. The cottage is very cute and CLEAN. I was concerned about parking our boat trailer onsite but the trailer fit in between the cabins easily without being intrusive to the neighbors. Sarah has added a personal dock with chairs and table for cabins #1 and #2 with a cooler for your beverages. It is clear that Sarah is attentive to any concerns you may have (we didn't have any issues) and is making this new venture of hers a priority. Everything listed in the rental ad is spot on. You can swim or cool off by your personal dock. The water is shallow and the sand soft. There is a slight incline and a few steps to get to your dock. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and had great weather to cruise the lake with our boat. Because of the heat and humidity the week there, the wall air conditioner made it easy to cool off after a day on the lake. We enjoyed the fire pit in front of our cottage one evening when there was a break in the heat. Our neighbors in cottage #1 took advantage of the kayaks that are provided at no charge. Thanks so much, Sarah, and wish you well on this venture!

not so cool getaway

left florida for the cool north, only to endure a heat wave in michigan.. not the hosts fault. the cabin was better than most, but the description of the section of mud by the lake as a beach, not good.and, the elevated walkway is wobbly, terrible, felt like it is unsafe.

Peace and quiet

It was very neat, clean. We didnt eat in. Just coffee in morning. Three seniors lady enjoying the cottage. The little porch was so cute. Good place to read. Really a nice get away.

Houghton Lake Fishing Trip

The cabin was very nice and exactly as described. Location couldn’t have been better we were close to restaurants and groceries and even though the weather kept us off Houghton Lake there were other lakes close by that we were able to fish. Would highly recommend both this cabin and the area itself.

Very nice Florida room was an added benefit for snowy gear . Would of liked a coffee maker that was a full pot, but very nice that kireig coffe was made available. Close to all activities . Very comfortable furniture.

My family and I enjoyed staying here at this place which is conveniently located by the lake shore. This made lake access very nice so that we could ice fish on the lake. I would consider another stay by maybe in the future!

What a great week at a great place! The house was very clean and comfortable. The host was very prompt in answering and questions and had someone right there for any issues that arose. The 3-seasons room was a joy to sit in. A+ property and host. You will love staying here!

Cabin was decent but lacked expected amenities. Amenities like soap (went thru 4 liquid soap bottle as every one of them was basically empty), Kleenex (partial box but no back up to replace when empty, two trash bags, no coffee maker just a Keurig which only had two pods. Furnace would not operate, trash cage that was supposed to be at street was not. There is no beach access, there is access to the lake tho. Worst was the musty smell that permeated the bathroom. Did not get access code for cottage, messaged owner then has to contact VRBO a help to get owners phone number. Once we called him he was super friendly and gave us access code. The cottage is basically cute and view to lake beautiful but it really could use some basic updates to make it outstanding.

we are in our 80s and it was in no way set up for us. mis leading information such as "beach access", there was no beach. Information did not give specifics,no instructions for TV, Heat, Grill was not suitable for cooking.Twin beds, was a TRUNDLE, not for everyone.

Over all okay. The cottage was low on cooking supplies, wash cloths (none). The small bedroom smelled like urine. Guests should have been warned about the automated air freshener that could not be turned off. One guest has severe asthma that was triggered by the air freshener. The view of the lake was very limited due to the large cars parked at cabin 3.i would recommend a hand rail for the steps going down to the beach.

Really Enjoyed

No issues. Really enjoyed the cabin and the appliances all worked. Realized just today that kitchen pictures have a regular coffee pot but there was not one in any of the kitchen cupboards when we went through them. It was no issue for us as we just got the kcups and I wasn't expecting it anyways. Everything else was as pictured. One thing I will mention is the toilet flow is slower, possibly just water saving, so we had to flush a couple times to avoid clogging sometimes but it never clogged on us dont ket that discourage you, just know for when you stay. Dave was super responsive when we had an issue on our PIN when trying to check in. Lake was quite choppy the firstvtwo days due ti the wind but we just went out to the Rec Center nearby thise days. The last few days the lake was super nice and calm so we got out on the kayaks. Definitely would like to come back one of these years.

HOUGHTON LAKE

First of all Dave the owner did not give me the door code until I contacted him the day before arrival. The amenities listed a hot tub but none was there. Interior pictures misleading. no regular coffee pot, the tiny shower, barely big enough for a child was not pictured. Did I mention that the toilet paper holder was three feet above the floor and a foot behind my left ear. The living room had couch and love seat and an arm chair. Two lazy boys on the porch should be in the living room and the love seat on the porch. Watching tv in a lazy boy is way more comfortable. The hot water stunk like rotten eggs. The BBQ grill had not been cleaned in a very long time. The beach was littered with a dead fish and mounds of seaweed.

Houghton Lake getaway

Easy to get to right in town. Good parking for truck, boat and car. Owner Dave went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back if we are able next year.

Great vacation

We stayed at this cabin for 10 days, it was perfect. Great clean cabin with plenty to do in the area. The host was wonderful and took great care to make sure that we had all of what we needed to make it enjoyable.
