Our home is located right on the Straits of Mackinac. With scenic views of Mackinac Island, the Mackinac Bridge and the freighters passing, it is the most relaxing getaway. We are located just over a mile away from one of the ferry lines that take you to Mackinac Island and walking distance from the Lumber Jack show. We are right on the water so you have your own beach. The house also come with free access to a local waterpark and discounts to local restaurants.

To whom it concerns I had contacted the host like five to six times before we arrived and did not receive any contact until she sent info to get in the house which gave a code for the box and didn’t state that you had to go in the garage and that’s where the box was once my sister and I figured out we went thru garage to get in there was no heat I tried calling her no answer so then I texted and then she replied back and sent some one my sister and I went to Walmart to buy electric blankets and smoke detectors when we got back it was warm the gentleman got it working this was about 10:30 in the evening when we were finally getting ready for bed around 11:30 we heard a load noise we both ran to garage and water was pouring out of the furnace they sent people back to check the boiler broke down they were going to have to send someone to fix it they said the would come the next day note that this is all in the garage which was pitch black no working lights and that was how you get into the house and we did have our elderly mothers with us they did bring three space heaters that night I had bought a light to put by step in garage we waited awhile the next day to see if someone was coming to fix the heat finally when we didn’t hear anything back I texted her to see if someone was coming the only response I got was that yes no time or nothing else then we had friends that were camping mill creek came to have dinner with us while visiting she called. Need to say more but no space.

This location was perfect for us and our 7 year old rescue Aussie Shepherd... Our goal was to "escape the normal" for 3 days.. enjoy time with a dog who needed a home after being "tossed out" and let him learn that he would go back to his new home... Off Season, the neighborhood was quiet and that was what we sought... it fit our needs.. and his quite well... Smoked fish at Big Bay Fishery was AWESOME as was Whitefish dinner at Audies..

The house was great and perfect location and beautiful views. The only thing there was no air conditioning and we stayed in August so it was a bit warm (hot). Over all great experience and a wonderful neighbor.

The location of this property was very nice – quiet neighborhood with a great view. It was also convenient to have laundry available during our stay.Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. The house was not clean when we arrived (dust on lamps, dirty radiant heat units, and the oven/stovetop not cleaned). The heating system was not working, and the garage was nearly 90 degrees, so we had to leave the garage door open to help heat the house. The dĂ©cor was extremely outdated, and some pieces were damaged. Essential kitchen items were missing (no mixing bowls, measuring cups, or oven mitts), and the bathroom had several issues – burned out lights and a missing center mirror from the trifold.Communication could also be improved, as we had to reach out to the owner before arrival since no entry instructions were provided.With some simple, inexpensive updates and better attention to cleanliness, this place could be a much more enjoyable stay. However, until improvements are made, I would not recommend this property.

Wonderful place right on lake heron. Our dogs love the opportunity to stretch their legs a bit. Porch has sliding doors so we opened them up to hear the waves.

PROPERTY ADVERTIZED WAS OLDER THAN I THOUGHT. UNIT HAD CLOSED UP FOR QUITE AWHILE, NOT AIRED OUT. BEDS & MATTRESSES WERE OLD, BUT OK TO SLEEP ON, COUCH WAS AN OLD BROKEN FOLD-OUT BED, THE FRAME SANK IN THE MIDDLE. HAD TO SHOVE A CUSHION SO YOU COULD WATVH TV.. ESPECIALLY WHEN SLEEPING, TOO.THE THE KITCHEN WAS OK, BUT NEEDED UPDATED .COOKWARE. THE HALF BATH WAS TOO SMALL AND YOU COULDN'T SHUT THE DOOR BECAUSE OF THE NEW OVERSIZED WASHER. LIGHTING IS POOR AND ALSO NEEDS UPDATING. THERE WERE SOME SHORTS IN ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS WHICH ALL THE WIRING SHOULD BE CHECKED BY A LICENSE ELECTRICIAN. THE BEDROOMS WERE SMALL,OLD, AND STUFFY. DIDN'T COOK ANY MEALS THERE. GARAGE DOOR WAS LOCKED SO YOU COULDN'T RAISE IT TO BRING IN SUPPLIES. DRIVEWAY WAS A SINGLE LANE SO WE HAD TO CONSTANTLY MOVE VEHICLES AROUND, WHAT DREW ME TOTHE PROPERTY WAS ITS CLOSENESS TO THE BAY. VERY BEAUTIFUL WATCHING THE SHIPPING, MACKINAC ISLAND AND THE BRIDGE LITE UP AT NIGHT. OVERALL THE PRICE WAS TOO STEE[ FOR THE OLD ACCOMADATIONS FOR 3 DAYS. WHAT I DID'N'T KNOW AT THE TIME WAS THAT MACKINAW CITY HAD BEEN BUILT UP SO NICLY WITH MOTELS EVERYWHERE, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT CHEEPER AND MORE MODERN.. I'M REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN VRBO FOR NOT CHECKING OUT THIS PROPERTY. I THINK YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BREAKING TIES THESE PEOPLE AS THEY LIVE IN MANSIONS DOWN THE BLOCK. NEIGHBORS SAY THEY NEVER DO ANYTHING TO THE CABIN.

The view is amazing and made this a memorable stay. The view cannot be beat and was lovely. However there are some important things to know, especially if planning to stay with a family and cook: inside fridge doesn't work, no dishwasher (or dishsoap), water smells and tastes like sulfur, heater is very noisy waking up kiddos, pull out bed missing many springs so adults wouldn't be able to use, garage is not connected to the opener so you can't use it to park your car. There is a fridge in the garage that saved our food but wish the one in the house warned us with a sign at least as this seems to be an ongoing problem. Overall a deep cleaning, having some maintenance done to the property and updating furniture could make this worth 500 a night minimum. We appreciate the discount but weren't quite sure what we were getting into.There was a surprise pool included at a local hotel which was nice and had a lazy river and hot tub. The slides were all shut down there and also in need of maintenance but it was a nice perk we didn't expect. Thankful for that and the view. Linens and towels were clean which was also nice. I grew up in an old house and know they are harder to keep up but this one needs some attention. Heater servicing and perhaps water heater servicing would go a long way to making this a more enjoyable stay.

Great view but did not comfortably sleep 6. The sleeper sofa was so uncomfortable a group slept on the floor instead. If you have a group of six be prepared for only 2 queen beds. The proximity to town and view of the water were beautiful!

Great location; worked well for our family

We loved the location; easy 15-min bike ride on a lovely packed gravel trail to the ferry! The beach behind the house is rocky, but my kids really enjoyed collecting rocks and feathers on it. Great view of the bridge! The house itself was fine; it worked well for our family. We enjoyed meals on the screen porch right on the water! There were a few things that could use attention: one burner on the stove didn't work, many of the doors & windows were hard to open, the bathroom mirror was missing the middle part...etc. The kitchen was small but functional, though there isn't much in the way of cooking implements; plan simple meals or bring your own cooking stuff. The house was pretty clean, though some of the dishes had food residue. Overall, the house worked well for my family of 5, though it could benefit from some simple updates.

I will start by saying that the location and views from the property were great! However the entire property is grossly outdated. I’d say everything in the home is 40 years old. The price for the 5 days was outlandish especially for the condition of the property. The pull out bed in the living room is almost unusable as my small child sunk down into it so badly we had to stick pillows under the mattress so we wasn’t on the floor. The blinds are only half there so there is no blind in that room to make it conducive to sleep in. The 1/2 bath door doesn’t close due to the washer. The sunroom doors were covered in cobwebs and didn’t slide so you have to walk all the way around the house. There’s a stack of chairs outside. All but 2 of them are busted. The 2 that aren’t are so filthy you have to put a towel on it to use it. The fridge inside doesn’t keep anything cold. The one in the garage works ok. Stove is so outdated that there’s no way to know what setting the burner is on because it’s all worn off. The water stinks horribly so buy bottled water to drink (we have well water at home). I was very disappointed as we’ve used VRBO multiple times and had a nice stay. This one really missed the mark.

Starting with the good great location and view. It was clean. The bad.. In the bathroom off the kitchen, the door did not close all the way/blocked by the washing machine, so it made going to the bathroom uncomfortable. The fridge in the kitchen stopped working correctly Saturday night, not keeping stuff cold. The screens in the three season room had rips, that let bugs in. several weeks before we arrived I aske Jodi for a phone number in there was issues. She did not provide one, SO If left me to believe I was a introruption of her day and not a important part of her day. Most of the lawn chairs are broken.

My expectations weren’t high and the stay was as expected.

The door to the 1/2 bath on first floor cannot close due to the size of the washing machine. This would have been a significant problem if weren’t a family; obviously there was no privacy in that case. The refrigerator was broken, but freezer worked. There was another refrigerator in the garage that functioned well; I do not know why these weren’t swapped out. It was inconvenient to walk into the garage to retrieve refrigerator items but moreover, we nearly lost food we had purchased for the stay due to spoilage in the broken refrigerator. The water is well water. Not a deal breaker but I didn’t see anything regarding this in the description. We brought our own spring water for consumption. The beach is entirely rocky. This was somewhat unexpected as, again, that detail is not included in the beachfront property description. My children happily played but we would have likely stayed elsewhere for a sandy beach which would have been largely safer for small children. The pull out mattress is in terrible shape. My young children slept on it and complained about discomfort, as well as the obvious dip into the middle where they both ended up while asleep. Lastly, communication with the host was a bit poor. Questions via messenger received no response. However, more than that, a service call was made to repair a screen in the house that we didn’t know about, so during our stay, a repairman showed up with intention of fixing whatever the host called on & we weren’t informed.

Everything in the cottage feels about 40 years old, and very low quality. Cheap blinds do not block out light, no hand towels or washcloths in kitchen, powder room is right off kitchen with a door that won't close because the washing machine is too big so if someone is in the kitchen you have zero privacy in the bathroom. Dirty old couch and throw pilliws, filthy, broken outdoor chairs etc. I message the owner asking where I might find some kitchen towels or paper towel.She responded by leaving 1 roll of the cheapest paper towel on the dirty floor of the garage for me.

Great potential, but needs work

Location is very good and the view was amazing, but the floors were very dirty. Our socks got black just walking around the house. When we arrived we had to walk through the garage to access the home. There were a lot of garbage bags in the garage and coupled with the heat of the day it smelled awful. It would be nice to keep garbage away from the only entry point to the home. The bathroom door to the half bath does not close because of the washing machine. The vanity in the full bath has a broken mirror and the lights do not work. The beds were decently comfortable but my kids found black hairs in theirs under the blankets. The chairs for the two dining tables were covered in stains and looked dusty. We also noticed ants coming from the wall behind the sink while we were washing dishes. The screened porch has poorly fitting screens which allow bugs to enter the home. There is a tree/bush growing directly next to the steps on the back screened porch, which makes it difficult to enter and exit the area. We did not have a lot of trouble, but for older guests this could be a problem. This property could easily be a 4 or 5 star location. It just needs some touchups and attention to detail.
