Oldest functioning property in Old Town dating back to 1750. Surveyed and purchased by our founding father, George Washington on behalf of his beloved, older half-brother, Lawrence. Walk and live in the footsteps of authentic American history.

This property includes recently renovated Old Town Alexandria historical carriage house upper apartment situated as the first property next to the intersection of South Lee Street and King Street, which is the true heart of Old Town.

Perfectly placed amid the restaurants and shops of Old Town Alexandria, within walking distance to water activities, trails, and parks along the river. Updated bathroom, TV, and kitchen appliances along with a small electric fireplace for ambiance (not wood due to guest safety) provide for a wonderful stay in Old Town on the oldest functioning property in Old Town, Alexandria.

This was, by far, the most charming VRBO we have ever booked! The location was ideal as it was walkable to restaurants, shopping, and historic sites. Thomas could not have been more welcoming and helpful!We also booked the upper carriage house along with the Washington Family home main house and it made for the perfect place for my sister to have some comfortable privacy to sleep and bathe. My parents stayed here on vacation. We live in the neighborhood. We wanted to get something close to us. They had an excellent time. You can't beat the location in history of this building. My parents had everything they needed and the apartment was very clean and cute. Additionally, the owner was incredibly kind. He was around to make sure they had everything they need and told them a little bit about the history of the property as well. We will definitely be having family stay in this location again.

Fantastic, quiet location. Nice, well-stocked kitchen. Everything kept in good condition.The only cons are that parking in the nearby garage is paid, and the heat/ac unit is kinda loud - think hotel room volume. We had the electric unit in the fireplace on too, but it wasn't able to keep up.Besides those nitpicks, it was a fantastic location that we loved!

Superb location to Old Town Alexandria

As locals, we used this as extra accommodations over the Christmas holidays. The location is excellent to the wonderful feel of historic Alexandria charm and history. The room was wonderful and parking options given by the owner were brilliant. Worked perfectly for our needs!

The first owner of the property was Lawrence Washington, George Washington's half brother. George Washington surveyed and purchased the property for Lawrence. Truly, you will be walking in the unique footsteps of pre-revolutionary American heros.
