Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay! The location was great (easy access to the beach). The downstairs apartment was very cozy and gave us a nice break. I personally loved the porch below the deck. It was a great reading and relaxing spot. A blender would have been nice for making frozen drinks, but we managed. We plan to book for next October.

Cost friendly location

For the price, this rental is just what we were looking for. It’s not super nice or fancy, but it is clean and has plenty of space.

Review

Our stay at the beach birds was great. House fit all of our needs. The only thing i would say is they may want to think about provinding pot holders for getting things out of the oven or letting renters know they only provide ppts, pans, dishes and silverware that they would need to bring their oen seasoning, tin foil, stuff like that. Other than that, stay was great.

Summer vacation

We had a great stay. The property r is in a great location. Our only complaint is the home is in need of some repairs and work and new living room furniture. We expressed our concerns and the rental co stated the owners are in the process of updating and repairing the unit. They were responsive and appreciated my feed back. The new deck and flooring and shower were nice! I would stay again once the furniture is updated.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house was falling apart... the deck to get upstairs was pulling away from the house and it shook as you walked up the stairs. The inside of the house had an awful smell of mold/mildew and there was a stain from a leak in the ceiling above the kitchen. The downstairs room was unbearably moldy/musty that we couldn’t even use the space. The wood around the stilts of the house had rotted through. There was also mold and dust around the air vents inside the house.

A few things were not up to expectations and it was slightly disappointing. The pictures on the website were clearly pre-hurricane. Both decks were not safe and a lot of the wood was rotting. We were completely unable to use the front deck due to it leaning forward a worrisome amount. On the back deck, the two sides that were not covered were scary to walk on. One side detached probably 6 inches from the house while we were staying there and it made us not sure if we should even use that deck. Also, an outdoor shower was advertised and there was not one there only a water hose. Other than that, we love the island and wish the best!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It is an older house. The air conditioner upstairs does not work well and needs to be replaced. It was 77 and 78 at (the coolest) part of the day. They replaced the air conditioner downstairs on Tuesday, but we were miserable until then. We purchased a small window unit to get relief until they came. They have updated the beautiful deck and built an outdoor shower. Suncoast rentals is always helpful in making our reservations and communicating with us.

Always a good time on SGI

The lower unit was excellent for guests who stayed with us and appreciated the privacy. The deck facing the Gulf was nice, a good view of the water. The house needs some T.L.C. paint, a little update on the furniture,,but overall,,it suited us.

The air conditioner would not keep the house cool but the rental agency did have someone bring a portable one to try and help. Restroom doors would not lock for privacy. Only 1 t.v. would work but rental agency said there were 4 working t.v.s. This was reported to agency but nothing was ever done to solve problem. We have been coming to SGI for over 20 years and have rented from Suncoast several times and homes are not the best.

We were switched from Beach bird to Dunescape due to owners remodeling.

Dunescape was a nice location, only stepped away from the beach. The house was well furnished. Only one small TV in the living room. Yard not maintained, grass and weeds growed up all around.

Reviewer Comments: We had our original reservation across from the beach cancelled when that house was sold to new owners. We normally stay on the beach or across from the beach as was our original reservation but by the time of the cancellation, there was no availability for our large family. This house fit our needs as far as the size goes with the added bonus of the downstairs guest suite (access is separate from main house). Access to the beach was a little over a block away but was not bad, especially since we rented golf carts but it was also easily walkable taking 1-2 minutes or so. The house is older but could use a little TLC. Note there is no dining room so plan for that when dining. It still worked for us. Property was clean except that it could use additional cleaning on baseboards, etc. (deep cleaning). We had to call for the wifi password as it was not included in the paperwork we received but other than that we had no issues.

Reviewer Comments: We stayed in mid June.This house was in a great location for not being on the beach. Very short walk to beach. The brand new deck was nice. Couldn't enjoy it at night because none of the lights or ceiling fans worked properly. The A.C. would not get below 80% most of the time. Gaps at top of and bottom of doors. This allowed whatever cool air we would have gotten to escape. These gaps also allowed bugs in. You could tell house hadn't been deep cleaned in awhile. Base boards and door frames were filthy. Really bad soft spots in floor at one end of house. Encountered a swarm of flying termites in the living room one night. Poles under deck ate up by termites. One out of five ceiling fans inthe house worked properly. I could probably list more but will run out of space. Would not recommend unless these things are taken care of.

Quaint and comfortable

Everything I wanted in a beach house rental. I’m not wild about being directly on the water, so this being a block from public access was perfect for my vacation. Everything worked well in the home, parking and living spaces were more than adequate. Area is quiet and secure, far enough from town that you don’t have much traffic. We will definitely be staying again!
