The 40-acre private estate on the Colorado plateau sits 40 minutes from Breckenridge, with zero neighboring properties and some of Colorado's darkest night skies — guests describe it as ""close enough to civilization, far enough to feel a world away.""

Two king suites anchor the sleeping configuration. The third bedroom has two twin beds and a dedicated workspace with a monitor and printer — functional for remote work without sacrificing the setting. A chef's kitchen with an indoor wood-burning oven, an outdoor hot tub, and an indoor jet tub round out the indoor-outdoor experience. A gas grill and fire pit make evenings on the property an event in themselves. Return guests consistently point to the hot tub as a highlight — stargazing from the water with 360-degree mountain views above.

The property sits within the Thousand Peaks Ranch Private Community, surrounded by high-altitude meadows that attract elk, pronghorn, and mule deer through the seasons. June and July bring wildflower blooms across the plateau. After dark, the Milky Way is visible with the naked eye from the front yard. Antero, Spinney, and 11 Mile Reservoirs are within 30 minutes for fishing and paddling. Buena Vista and the Arkansas River canyon are nearby for whitewater rafting. Breckenridge is 40 minutes for skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and dining. The historic town of Fairplay is minutes away.

A Level 2 EV charger is available on-site at a per-day rate. Dogs are welcome. This property is managed by Gilson Property Group.

The main living area features an open-concept layout anchored by the indoor wood-burning oven and a fully equipped chef's kitchen — very well stocked, including an Instant Pot. The dining area seats the full group. A record player, sound system, and Smart TV complete the living space.

The primary king suite has a private bathroom and direct access to the outdoor areas. The second king suite is similarly configured with its own bath. The third bedroom has two twin beds and doubles as a remote work station with a dedicated monitor, printer, and fast ethernet connection — ideal for guests who need to stay productive without leaving the property.

Outside, the private outdoor hot tub sits under open sky — positioned for the kind of stargazing that draws guests out late. Guests consistently describe the combination of the hot tub and 360-degree mountain views as one of the most memorable parts of the stay. The outdoor kitchen includes a gas BBQ grill. The fire pit is set in the meadow with views in every direction.

Additional amenities include in-unit washer and dryer, hammock, sun loungers, children's gear including a crib and high chair, board games, and a game console. The property is single-level with a private entrance and no shared walls. A Level 2 EV charger is available at a per-day rate. Dogs are welcome — fee applies.

Guests have exclusive access to the entire property — all 40 acres, the full home, outdoor hot tub, indoor jet tub, outdoor grill, and fire pit. The property is fully private with no shared walls, driveways, or neighboring rentals.

Entry is via smart lock. Your unique access code is provided through the Gilson guest portal prior to arrival. Free on-site parking is included. The Level 2 EV charger is available at a daily rate, bookable through the portal.

Before arrival, you will be asked to complete a brief identity verification through the guest portal — a standard step that takes a few minutes and secures your check-in details.

This property is managed by Gilson Property Group — a professional hospitality team. Every stay is prepared to the same standard: thorough cleaning, quality linens, and responsive support throughout your trip.

Guests receive a digital welcome guide through the portal before arrival, covering check-in instructions, house details, and local recommendations. If you need anything during your stay — a property question, a local tip, or a concierge request — reach us through the listing messenger. We respond promptly.

The Gilson guest portal is where concierge services live: private chef, grocery and alcohol delivery, airport transportation, in-home spa services, guided excursions, early check-in, and late checkout. Browse and book on your schedule, before or during your stay.

The primary renter must be 25 or older. A $250 security deposit is collected prior to arrival and released in full after checkout, provided all access items are returned. Guests may alternatively select a non-refundable Damage Waiver during the pre-arrival verification process.

A 4x4 or all-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended in winter months, as roads can be icy or snow-packed. Dogs are welcome with a pet fee. The property sits at high elevation — plan for altitude adjustment, especially for guests arriving from sea level. The Level 2 EV charger is available at a per-day rate.

Thanksgiving escape

We had a wonderful time over Thanksgiving break…most relaxing trip we’ve taken with the kids by far. We especially enjoyed the very well stocked kitchen and the hot tub. Beds were also very comfy and communication with the hosts was easy. Highly recommend if you are looking for some quality family time in a peaceful and beautiful setting.

Awesome Escape in the Mountains

This place was great, just far enough out of town you didn’t have to deal with a ton of people but close to tons of hikes and access to National Forest. The house was great, super high end furnishings and accessories in the house along with plenty of linens and towels.

Beautiful house in the country

This is a lovely property, with upgraded interior. You have the peace and privacy of the country with very nice amenities. Everything was sparkling clean on arrival, and all appliances worked perfectly. The foam beds were very comfortable and the linens were very nice as well. The bathrooms gave a luxurious feel

The host was exceptionally awesome with making sure my stay was wonderful. When I needed help there made sure I got what I needed. The house was beautiful inside, beds very comfortable, laundry room was awesome to have use so that I was able to return home with clean clothes. Kitchen area had more than what I needed. Parking was no problem. And last but not least the view of the mountains was absolutely amazing, even had a preview of the winter with overnight snow squalls. Also available but Not used by me due to health concerns were the outside hot-tub and an inside hot-tub in the master bath along with a great shower with a sitting corner for those who are fragile standing or wanting to sit for other reasons. Outdoor patio’s and chairs were plentiful and faced the wonderful mountain vistas. Absolutely loved this vacation home stay. Definitely recommended!

Beautiful home in the mountains

Our stay here was excellent! A great place to stay to feel like you're off the grid but with all the modern comforts. Downtown Fairplay was only a 15 minute scenic drive away for supplies. Check in/check out was a breeze. The house was immaculately clean and had a lot of nice touches throughout. The kitchen was fully stocked with supplies to make meals and the beds were very comfy, probably the best sleep I've had in weeks. Our group loved this property! It was very private, the only neighbors were the cows grazing in the morning. We enjoyed the stunning sunset walks, and amazing star gazing at night. The area has everything you need for a day outdoors - lots of nearby trails, rivers, and lakes for hiking, kayaking, and fishing. There's a great fly fishing spot right across the street at Tomahawk. The kids in our group want to come back every summer and it was an awesome and much needed escape from Denver, it was very hard to leave. Highly recommended!

Can I live here forever?

How do I even start this review honestly? This house, and its location is magical. Every single second of every day spent here was amazing. We woke up and saw rainbows, snow falling miles away on the peaks, heard and saw wildlife and farm animals, saw the milky way galaxy, all while feeling right at home in this beautiful house. It is well furnished, looks great, and is comfortable for the entire family. The beds are nice and the showers and hot tub are fantastic. Overall, pretending to live on a ranch in Colorado is a 100% must do, and staying at Josh's house is my number 1 pick out of ALL of Colorado. People in the surrounding town were friendly, and even the people who take care of the house were extremely nice and friendly. Love this house, love the ease of getting in touch with the host, and love the location. Book here and don't look back. You will thank me and yourself.
