Notre casa est juste Ă  cĂŽtĂ© de l'une des cinq missions de San Antonio, Mission San Juan Capistrano, un site du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Nous sommes sur la riviĂšre San Antonio et la magnifique piste de randonnĂ©e et de vĂ©lo rĂ©cemment rĂ©novĂ©e qui relie toutes les missions. Évitez les rochers sur la riviĂšre, regardez le coucher du soleil ou dĂ©tendez-vous dans notre maison confortable et charmante. Avec un vaste terrain, nichĂ© sur 2 hectares, nous avons une vĂ©ritable sensation de "s'Ă©vader de tout" tout en Ă©tant idĂ©alement situĂ© Ă  toutes les meilleures attractions de San Antonio -10 miles Ă  The Alamo- 3 miles aux Ă©piceries, restaurants, un film thĂ©Ăątre et shopping!

Histoire: La partie principale de la maison a Ă©tĂ© construite en 1890, puis le reste a Ă©tĂ© ajoutĂ© Ă  la fin des annĂ©es 20. Tous les terrains au sud de la maison appartenaient aux Southwell. C'Ă©tait un verger de noix de pĂ©can. La partie de la riviĂšre Ă  l'ouest a Ă©tĂ© coupĂ©e Ă  la fin des annĂ©es 50 afin d'Ă©vacuer plus rapidement l'eau du centre-ville et d'Ă©viter les inondations. La riviĂšre Ă  l'est est le vestige d'origine de la riviĂšre et a une incroyable vie d'oiseau. Vous pouvez Ă©galement voir des coyotes et des porcs sauvages sur la riviĂšre. La rumeur dit qu'il s'agissait d'un arrĂȘt de diligence et mĂȘme d'un bordel.

Great location for visiting Lackland AFB during our son’s Basic Training—very convenient and close to Riverwalk. The area itself is a bit rough and not our usual preference, as we typically lean toward Hill Country stays.Guests should be aware that dogs and chickens can be noisy, trains pass at night, the master bedroom is a walk-through without a lock, and a caretaker family lives on the grounds. That said, the property is private from neighbors, fairly priced, and full of character. Good value for travelers prioritizing proximity to the base.

We loved staying at this character-filled and beautifully-appointed home! The location was so cool being next door to mission San Juan and riverwalk hike and bike trail, and we loved the roaming chickens and dogs on the property. We would definitely stay here again for a long weekend. It’s the perfect place to relax and hang out with family and friends.

Out of town retreat

The property has cozy charm and is a great escape from the city. Pleanty of cool little spots to hang out and enjoy coffee in the morning. The dip pool is great when its hot out. Be advised the main bedroom has the bathroom in it that everyone uses. The basement steps are very steep.

Perfect Home Base for Exploring San Antonio

This wonderful property is situated perfectly to access all of SA, and in particular the mission trail and SA River parks and trails. It is very comfy and clean. A great place to stay on your visit to the city.

The pics do not do this gorgeous house justice. It's incredible! We loved hanging out, drinking wine, doing puzzles and just enjoying the beauty of the house. It's also in a great location. We loved it!

Nostalgia

Reminder of days on the ranch. Great acreage with multiple cozy sitting areas. Plunge pool is just right for youngsters. The house is a delight around every corner. Hope to return soon.

Amazing, Historic and Fun

We enjoyed our stay at this unique property both inside and out! Esmeralda’s on the corner has the best breakfast in town. Record player was a fun touch! Love all the separate sitting areas. To help with sleeping arrangements, both staircases are extremely steep and narrow so seniors and very young kids that get up in the night might need assistance for safety reasons.

Hidden Gem

This was a perfect spot for our San Antonio rodeo weekend. My grandsons loved the yard and played outside the whole stay. The solo stove fire pit was so great, we enjoyed time out there with friends, and dining al fresco on the patio. The house is so cool it’s hard to explain. There are a million things to look at and admire inside. The stairs to the basement and the loft are tricky as stated in the explanation, but I’m 64 and made it to the loft for a cozy sleep. We want to come back. My boys were calling it our San Antonio home all weekend.

Margaret is WONDERFUL!!!! Very easy to work with. The house is amazing! Beautiful, historic, and absolutely perfect! A Great Week Away

We enjoyed our time at the Walker River House! This was our first trip to San Antonio and staying at this property made it special. The house has a charm about it. Alfredo the care taker is very nice and the fresh eggs were a treat. The 2 dogs on property were so loving. The owners were attentive through email which was a nice unexpected outreach and made us feel even more at home. We hope to visit again soon and will suggest this home to others. Great location, lots of outdoor activities and only a 15-20 minute drive to the river walk. We loved it!!!

Hidden Gem!

This house was so special and authentic! The kids loved playing in the yard, and it was so safe. We grilled on the patio, had a bonfire at night. It was a quick drive to downtown. Also victor the caretaker is in a house next door to help with anything. He gathered wood for the fire and helped the kids out with the bikes, along with bribing us fresh eggs from the chickens. The kids also loved his dogs and cats!

We have an insatiable case of wanderlust - we traveled around the world for 6 months prior to getting married. Two teenage sons with the same love of travel. San Antonio is an absolute favorite and the riverhouse is truly our happy place.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

We fell in love with this historic treasure and renovated it to preserve its roots. When we bought the house it needed a lot of love - it had gone to disarray, but after a lot of sweat and restoration magic, it is now a treasure. The original house was built pre1900. The rest of the house was added in the 30s. It used to be a ranch (cows, sheep, goats) and a pecan orchard. There have been whispers of it being a stagecoach stop, brothel and popular spot during prohibition. The ruin across the street is what's left of Berg's Mill. San Juan, the mission next door was built mid 1700s. The ambiance of our property is seductively peaceful - we are so glad the house can continue to enchant visitors!

We have a fountain and a pond - our kids love looking for frogs, or feeding the fish. The birding on and around our property is spectacular. In the wintertime, we love having fires in the fireplaces, especially the fireplace in the master bedroom. Our property is surrounded by national park land so we are very secluded.
