Luxury 5-bed/4-bath in foothills w/ stunning mountain views, close to campus

This is a beautiful and unique Californian mid-century country home, with 5 full bedrooms and 4 full baths across 3,500 spacious square feet and a large deck looking out over Bishop's Peak. The property backs up to Cerro San Luis (Madonna Mountain), with stellar views and gorgeous hikes all around. It's in a venerable and safe neighborhood that's only a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to downtown. The home is perfect for family getaways--but not for parties! *Please plan on quiet stays to respect the neighbors, and comply with local laws and rules.

The house features 5 bedrooms, with 3 King Beds and 2 Queens, and four luxury full baths, including a Master En-Suite with a jacuzzi tub and large walk-in closet. Most rooms, including the large central living room, feature amazing views of Bishop's Peak. Guests can see red-tailed hawks and California Condors soar overhead, and during certain times of the year the cattle herd will mosey over to the fence line we share with Madonna Ranch and serenade guests. It's a cool place to stay.

The space
Beautiful and spacious mid-century home with select modern renovations and finishes. The home has clear views of Bishop’s Peak and the surrounding Santa Lucia mountain range, among others, and is only a few minutes walk from a lovely hiking trail that begins just a few minutes’ walk from the home and will take you up Cerro San Luis.

This is a uniquely charming home with classic wood finishes and select modern renovations to make for a luxury stay. The home has clear views of Bishop’s Peak and the surrounding Santa Lucia mountain range, among others, and is only a few minutes walk from a lovely hiking trail that begins at the end of Serrano Heights Drive and will take you up Cerro San Luis. The street winds up into the foothills of Cerro San Luis, and it's one of the most charming neighborhoods around San Luis.

Guest access
Guests should plan on having a vehicle to get around the city, although you can also join the many San Luis Obispans that walk, run, hike, bike and skateboard around the city. You'll have your own parking spaces (enough for 3-4 cars, if you park thoughfully).


Important Notes During Your Stay

This is a uniquely charming place to stay, and great for friends and family to reconnect. It is NOT for parties however, and parties and guests with unauthorized guests, loud music, and/or police/neighbor noise violations will have their stays immediately terminated, at the discretion of the host.

We think it’s great if you want to throw a bash—but you can not do it here. Parties, unapproved events, extra guests, noise violations, and loud music are subject to $1,000 fine per instance, at the host’s discretion. Note that the entrances are protected by cameras and a security system. We’ve yet to levy such a fine, but we will not tolerate someone destroying our home.

Note that the garage and storage room are used for personal and supply storage. You don’t have access to the garage and can only access garage or storage with prior written approval of host. Unapproved accessing of garage and storage room can lead to $1,000 fine per instance.

Pets are not allowed. However, if an exception is made and your pet is allowed, you are responsible in full for any damage your pet causes. Pet damage is the same as guest damage, and guests will be charged in full for damage caused by pets they have in the home. Any pet that is brought without host’s written permission is cause for an automatic non-negotiable $1,000 fee per unauthorized pet.

There are security cameras in the front, back and side of house, and also in the locked non-accessible laundry and garage. The laundry and garage are not available to guests without express written permission of host.

Extra Guests - Guests (any one not included in the approved booking) are not allowed. Any guest that is not included in the total number of guests submitted in the reservation request, or otherwise approved in writing by the Host, is considered an extra guest and will cause a $50/night charge per extra guest. House can not accommodate more than 10 total guests, including adults and children. We monitor all outdoor, garage and private storage areas (clearly marked) with security cameras. Tampering with cameras is subject to $1,000 fine.

Guests are not permitted to sleep on the leather couch upstairs for obvious hygiene reasons.

Early Check In - Early check may be available depending on cleaning and maintenance schedules. Early check in is $100.

Late Check Out - Guests checking out after 11 am may be assessed a late check out fee up to $300, applied at the sole discretion of the Host. We need you to check out at 11 am so cleaner can get started on her job. Please respect her work, and the next guest.

Trash/Recycling/Compost - Guests are expected to properly bag trash, and to put trash, recycling and compost into the proper container. They are labeled, but for clarity, Green is Compost, Blue is Recycling, and Grey is Trash. Failure to do so is subject to a $100 waste recycling fee, as the host or the cleaners have to go through the trash and resort to avoid fines from the city. It's simply a matter of respect to avoid making us or them do this, so we appreciate your compliance with this rule!

Any lost or stolen items are guests’ responsibility.

Guests are responsible for all shipping costs and time(labor) to send items back that are left at house, if required. Time includes driving time and all time required to prepare shipping, billed at $50/hour, with a minimum of $50 plus shipping costs.

Thanks for understanding that we need to set and enforce rules so that we can ensure all our guests have a good stay. We're not rule making people, but we've found it necessary to be clear about expectations in advance of guest stays.
